What are you working on now?

I put up some hooks on the rafters of my shed to better organize some of my tools.

I've been doing woodworking projects this weekend. Mostly done with a coffee table, just have the trickiest bit to do still (attach the top with a lift kit). Also made my daughter a step stool so she can reach the faucet in her bathroom and a toddler balance beam.

My wife is painting our kitchen cabinets and reorganizing the pantry, so our kitchen right now looks like a bomb went off.

An idea for a oneshot fanfic went into my head and it wouldn't go away. So I started writing it down hoping it would go away. Now I'm 2,600 words in. Oops.

Patched a pothole at the end of my driveway.

That is awesome!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.:please:
Thanks! Today is day one completely free of nicotine, no patch or lozenges. I didn't even think about it either, which is super helpful. At the beginning of last week when my dose had dropped to nearly zero, I started having a bit of a nicotine fit but then I took so much benadryl for my allergies that I was out of it and the rest of the withdrawals passed without me noticing.

So there was a weird silver lining to all the smoke wrecking my allergies after all.

Optimising rectangular flying carpets again. :)

I now know that the lift coefficient slope of a thin circular wing is 1.79002 30364 50297 17...
and that the strength of the (composite) singularity at the wing tips is 1.59308 82221 44...
To optimise flying carpets of circular and elliptical planforms, I just need a good, fast method that can handle > 400 variables.

1 month later... Oooh, look, new civs!

2 months later... Ooooh, look, civ updates.

3 months later... Better hurry, Byzantium available on Thursday!

I had to lower the coffee table I built by 2 inches to fit the space better after getting it in there and hemming and hawing about it. My wife has almost finished painting the bottom and staining the table top...all that's left is some poly on the top and then to attach them and it should be done.

I made it all week without nicotine. Yesterday I had some cravings but I got through them. It's nice to not have to carry around a bulky vape any more or think about where and when I'm going to vape. I also haven't slumped into depression as I feared would happen.

We also started viewing apartments yesterday for our move. It was kind of fun but also kind of a hassle.

That looks like a picture that you'd see in one of those interior decorating magazines.

And I see he has child-proof covers on his doorknobs! and welcoming pineapples on his walls. But the place looks awfully neat and clean for a lived in house....

The picture is slightly staged...but that is generally how we keep most areas of the main level. It is certainly messier when the toddler is home, but we always tidy up with her at the end of the day, and have tried to instill an attitude of "clean up your previous toy before you play with a second". Our bedrooms and basement are always quite a bit messier.

Online trading. I like it. It has a grinding feeling in it. Boosting up your product exposure with advertising and your store reputation level with sales. Building up instagram with advertising and content to create pool of potential buyer to create sales power. I like it. But it's far from enough for me to stand on my own feet. But I really enjoy it, it's kind a gamey in a way.

edit: I come to realization that I actually love grinding, I can be quite obsess about it.

I think it's been 2 weeks without nicotine. Maybe 3? I lost track as it's (mercifully) been a non-issue. I do get an odd twinge of craving here or there but it's been within my limited self-control abilities to ignore and I have.

We've toured 2 apartment complexes so far and are about to see a 3rd this morning. Unfortunately because of our dog, we have not been able to find a unit we like that is available. We're still too far out from our move date to really know what's going to be on the market but it's already bugging me that we're going to have to choose a sub-optimal apartment when really I want a semi-forever home that I won't feel the need to leave for at least 5 years.

If you ever need additional motivation to overcome your nicotine cravings, just think of your coming child. As someone who usually lacks intrinsic motivation, I find thinking about how they will model my behavior an unusually powerful motivator.
