What book are you currently reading?

Just finished: Furies of Calderon, by Jim Butcher.

Now reading: Storm Front, by Jim Butcher; Ad Infinitum, by Nicholas Ostler.

I consider myself a bit of an avid speculative fiction fan, and I've heard good things about Butcher's books, so I decided to check out the first of each of his main series. So far I like what I've seen, and I'll definitely be trying to fill out my collection later.

As for the other: I just finished two years of studying Classical Latin, and I've always been something of a Romanophile (which also helps explain why I wanted to read Furies).

I am currently dividing my time between Excession by Iain M. Banks and All Things Considered by G.K. Chesterton. I'm wondering, once again, why I bother reading anything that isn't by G.K. Chesterton.

I'm re-reading James Clavell's Noble House.

Yes it's trashy and sensationalist but who cares? Once in a while my brain needs junk food.

I found a copy of the Greek translation of Maupassant's "Old things". I do not have this particular story in my large Maupassant collection. I would have bought the very small book, which also contained something by Russel, but it cost 7 euro. 7 euro is not a good price for 20 pages...

However i found a bookstore that sells old books, which have been used. It would have been my paradise if it was not some scary vast basement with only one thin stairway as an exit. I did not feel comfortable walking past the ancient corridors of the basement. :D

just started the third book of Robin Hobb's Soldier Son trilogy: "Renegade's Magic"

Quite literally right now I'm reading - "Political Shakespeare: Essays in cultural materialism" which is fascinating, but not really a read I'd recommend.
My more lighthearted read at the moment is "Bright Shiny Morning" by James Frey.

Currently re-reading A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin.
Dammit, whenever Tyrion says something I hear Peter Dinklage's fake british accent in my head.

On a renewed Palahniuk kick now - re-reading Fight Club currently (it's been years, I'd forgotten how good he is) and I'm moving on to Lullaby or Choke next.

On the nonfic side, I just finished a book about beer and the brewing called Beer is Proof God Loves Us by a British professor / chemist / brewer. Made me really want to try a pint of mild in a traditional English pub. :(

Jared Diamond, The Third Chimpanzee.

Just finished World War Z...

oh my god...

so awesome...

Picked up The Warren Report at a local antique shop for $1.25. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

I've just started 'Iris: A Memoir of Iris Murdoch' by her husband John Bayley. It's wonderful.
