What if Fox News was the only source of News

Idiocracy.

Chiteng's blindness is a good example of what happens when corporate interests trump critical thinking.

Or a mod's foolishness that he thinks his opinion would ever trump mine =)
I can think for myself thanx =)
I used to like CNN but slowly over the years they simply stopped covering
events that I wanted to know about.

Fox does put spin on its stories, but oh well. I chalk that up to the man running the
company.

We all know Fox is a joke... so shouldn't this thread be in the Humor and Jokes section? I mean there is only so many ways to beat a dead, disgusting, lying, piece of crap fox that we don't need to have another Fox thread up here?

Well, we don't all know that despite the overwhelming evidence.

I don't think my opinion trumps yours at all. When I disagree with you, I indicate why.

Like in this case - you're blissfully unaware that one of your news sources actually argued in court that they should not be required to tell people actual reality-based facts when they label something as "news" - that it should be perfectly legal for them to fabricate "stories" and air them in a newscast.

Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? It's a disturbingly accurate satire of US culture. And FoxNews is an enormous part of the problem. We'll, really, the problem is people who don't employ critical thinking. But I digress..

And by the way, my Junior Mod badge only means that I have to do Housecleaning and janitorial services here - it has absolutely no bearing on my comments in threads. Posting here I'm no different from anyone else.

Anyone who has participated in high school debate or speech........
Should be aware of the reality of relayed information.
It always gets distorted by the delivery system.
This is especially true with religions (for example)

What is contemptible is when they try to mold the listener by delibretly lying to them.
Polls, are very good at this. It is because of exactly such attempts that I stopped
trusting CNN NBC CBS etc etc

Even now for example, USA today simply cannot accept that people dont like
Obamacare. They keep claiming it is evil conservatives that have simply lied
to us all (or Republicans)
No it isnt. It is because it has re-created largesse. The Prez dispenses from on high
exceptions to the law, for people he likes. Gaining a political following for the favor.
That is contemptible. If the law were any good, Congress would use it.

Since they dont, it is obvious that it sux.

I dont need a news service blaming some sub-set of politics to realize that.

I don't care for poetry - but I completely agree with the content of your verse.

Umm, why are you not including Fox in this? Since your blindness has thus-far precluded you from viewing facts contrary to your world-view I'll kindly paste some into this post:

FoxNewsBoycott said:
an appeals court issued a ruling reversing the jury, accepting a defense [FOXNEWS] argument that had been rejected by three other judges on at least six separate occasions…

The whistle-blowing journalists, twice refused Fox offers of big-money deals to keep quiet about what they knew, filed their landmark lawsuit April 2, 1998 and survived three Fox efforts to have their case summarily dismissed. It is the first time journalists have used a whistleblower law to seek a legal remedy for being fired by for refusing to distort the news.

The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves.

The court did not dispute the heart of Akre’s claim, that Fox pressured her to broadcast a false story to protect the broadcaster from having to defend the truth in court, as well as suffer the ire of irate advertisers.

And this shows why critical thinking is necessary. You claim to 'not trust' certain TV infotainment companies - how do you decide which ones to trust and which ones to be skeptical of? If you're not skeptical of the only one who has (so far) petitioned a court for the Right To Lie, then how much will it take for you to start thinking on your own??

Even now for example, USA today simply cannot accept that people dont like

Ignoring the fact that Obamacare is a massive give-away to the medical industry, your last line is a gem. Liberals have argued for decades that the congressional health coverage should be expanded to cover all citizens!

Since they dont, it is obvious that it sux.
Wrong. They don't because it's not in their best interest to advocate for that. It does happen to suck in some ways, but it's FAR better than the status quo antes. If you think it's not, please list specific ways in which the Obamacare system of health-care coverage for americans is worse than the system that was in place in 2009. You must be detailed in your response, because the meat of the program is in the details. Simply whining "government control" is a non-starter - that's the sort of response that causes people here to ignore your posts as being not worth responding to.

I dont need a news service blaming some sub-set of politics to realize that.
Apparently you do, since that's not what the ACA does :crazyeye:

For one: It helps if what they say is not contradicted by what I observe in reality.
When it IS so contradicted, then it becomes suspect.

FoxNews is not immune to my ire, they just get less of it.

Telling me over and over something that isnt true, merely irritates me.
But Fox must be doing something right. Because people do watch it. However much
that annoys the posters of this forum

BTW the thread is not about Obamacare. I cannot reply to the other questions
asked w/o being offtopic

Hookers must do something right too - since people go to them. That's not a very good conclusion. You can get people to watch you just by pulling your pants down - it doesn't mean that you're doing anything well. It just means that you're attracting the most attention.

What do you write your posts on btw? It's always so strangely formatted.

I would argue that many many years of being watched would imply that there
is more to it than sensationalism. Maybe people like what they see

Truth is sometime cold, hard facts that go against beliefs. Take the President's record enforcement against undocumented immigrants . . .

Telling me over and over that heroin ins't bad for my health, merely irritates me.
But opiates must be doing something right. Because people do use it. However much that annoys blah blah blah...

See? That's not a rational objection. It's a silly line of reasoning.

"people do watch it" is precisely the warning in the movie Idiocracy - and you've just demonstrated yet again the necessity of critical thinking.

"people do watch it" is the antithesis of critical thinking. FoxNews caters to the lowest level of viewership in order to sell advertising: that's the model of for-profit "news".

"people do watch it" implies nothing more than that they're successful at placing ads infront of susceptible eyeballs. If you watch FoxMews that means that in a statistical sense you're the equivalent of a consumer lamb being sung a lullaby. Critical thinking, indeed.

And telling you something over and over must indeed be irritating. I imagine you'd have to cover your ears and stick your head in the sand at some point. Because at the end of the day, FoxNews has earned its reputation as the least fact-worthy and most spin-polluted TV news organization around. Christ, they make Democracy Now! look like moderates

You are a perfect example just now of bending the truth.

How many five person(or more) families has he deported?
You see I give no kudos for people who parse the reality.
The Prez should enforce the law impartially. NOT with his obvious bias.

The raw numbers demonstrate record enforcement . . . you have to start bending the truth and parsing reality to conclude otherwise.
