What Video Games Have You Been Playing, Part 10: Or; A Shameful Display!

I finished Bioshock 2. I died a bunch of times along the way but since there's the resurrection chambers it wasn't so bad. It was a lot easier once I got the upgraded security command because the flying robots distracted a lot of the enemies. Since I saved all the little sisters and spared the NPCs I got the good ending. It was sad anyways.

Started Dragon Age: Inquisition again and this time I will finish it. Once I'm done, I might buy the DLC. I should have about two years until Dragon Age 4 comes out.
The game won't be cancelled and Bioware won't be shut down, right ?
EA will get it's head out of it's arse, right ?
well, on Twitter, Weekes is currently bragging about forcing Epler to make the "lemon face" in writers' meetings

seems fine for now

Rumours are that Bioware has one quarter to fix Anthem, by fix it needs to make a certain amount of money for EA or else mass layoffs are coming, you can forget about dragon age 4
Bioware had major problems using the Frostbite engine, and were out of their depths trying to build a loot shooter what were they thinking ?

if we go by rumors, DA4 was canceled something like eight times before it was ever announced

Division 2 is super good, spent basically all day in it

Wanted to have a fix of good ol' RPG, so I replayed Dragon Age Origins these last two weeks. Gave me the occasion to really play Awakening, as the only time I ever tried it several years ago I just didn't find it good (the fact that the only recurring companion is Oghren certainly didn't help).
Well, it's still not good, the writing is really several steps down from Origins, and Oghren is even worse if it were possible. But I don't have the "disappointment" kickback as I knew beforehand, so I can somewhat enjoy it. Though my god, what a bugfest it is.

Pretty mediocre overall, but I'm interested in seeing what the whole Architect deal is. Now I'm wondering : once I've finished it, should I bother with DA2 or just skip it ? It was a really, really terrible game, and though the dialogues were pretty rad (especially Varric), the mere idea of having to endure again the crapload of fights at every corner with paradropped Templar and the same three locations copy-pasted everywhere just makes me feel "meh"...

Fallout 4, Stellaris and 3 hours of Star Wars Battlefield II

Also Star Wars Empire at War Thrawns Revenge mod.

Yeah oghren is a dope, one of the shallowest companions. I mostly liked talking to morrigan and leliana, as they seemed to have the best backstories and interesting things to say. Allistair was ok but kind of one dimensional as well. Shale is interesting too but less to say. Sten has some funny lines about cookies. I never finished awakening, couldn't get into it.

It's less him being shallow than the crass humor which I find just repulsive and nearly never funny - and yet I have a pretty tolerant humor, but that's just falling flat on its face.
Sten is absolutely great, perhaps the best companion of Origin - he's very consistent, very funny in a subtle way and an extremely interesting window on the point of view of the Qun. He's a fresh and successful take on the "sarcastic companion" archetype.

Path of Exile: Synthesis

KalakonaTheTortoise has taken up the two-handed axe, with Double Strike and Cyclone. KalakonaTheBlender. KalakonaTheLawnMower. High Templar Dominus gave him some trouble with his sprays of 20 or 30 fireballs at a time, but the first fight with Kitava wasn't too hard. Onward to Part II. I'm also giving Blood Magic a try. Mana. Pssh. Mana is for soft people, people who read books and bathe and eat with utensils. In other news, I'm not really getting how the Memory Map works. It's not clear to me what the overall goal is. I see memories that contain a Memory Modifier, but it's not very clear what that is or what it does. The memories are great sources of XP, though; it seems like the enemies scale up with you, unlike the Delve mine, where you have to drill down to find worthy foes.

I've been playing Enderal to the almost complete exclusion of other games that have been piling up in my steam library such as Dawn of War and XCOM 2. If you have Skyrim on Steam you should download Enderal yesterday. It is a free total conversion for Skyrim that doesn't make the combat ridiculously hard and the main quest is leagues better than anything found in Skyrim - the voice acting is also quite good by AAA video game standards - let alone a free fan made production.

just completed 'Nehrim' its in german with English sub-titles by the same mod team, but for Oblivion, a sort of the prequel to 'Enderal' and am about 4 hours into 'Enderal' both would Qualify as stand alone pay for games
the world building is outstanding... still cannot speak german but am enjoying the English voice acting in Enderal
they are not just fan made conversions they are complete new worlds with different terian and maps and mythology...

SSE is garbage, why not just get the normal edition for like 5 bucks?..

Oldrim has many advantages over SSE. Probably more than half the existing mods aren't available for SSE and most of the SKSE reliant mods don't work. It's a mess.

I also hate the new main menu / esc menu, and the "hints" at new CC content, completely destroys my immersion. what kind of collossal a-hole thinks having in-game ads is okay?

yeah, Enderal is pretty cool. still have yet to do my full playthrough. never heard of Nerim, though I recently unearthed my copy of Oblivion to do a full Morroblivion playthrough. it's godly, 100% recommended.

I've never played Skyrim on my computer and assumed SSE was the same but with better graphics. :dunno:

Bethesda hyped that it would look better and have better performance, but in my experience performance was significantly worse.
