Next to window (the view can be nice occasionally) and next to emergency exit.
Not because I'm terribly afraid of crashing but because there is more leg room.

If I am flying on business, business class obviously.

I'll do my best to find you a suitable Ball Turret, then. :p

As for myself, assuming I'm a passenger on a civilian flight, yeah, I like the window seats as well. I don't mind being able to see some of the wing, as long as I can see something else. I love looking out the window; even on long overseas flights I find the view of the clouds rolling gently beneath me to be a soothing sight, especially under a full moon.

As close as possible to the engines, if they go I want to be hopefully taken out first because crashing just doesn't look fun.

I prefer to be in the copilot's seat, where I am able to see all the controls and can fly it for a while if I wish but have a more experienced pilot who does most of the work and can correct any mistakes I may make.

I've never actually been in a commercial aircraft. I have however been in a flight simulator (actually, 2 or 3 different simulators) at the Atlanta airport. My Sunday School teacher back in middle school worked there and got us in to simulators that normally only actual pilots can use. The guys before me kept crahing the plane into the DELTA sign on purpose though, so the instructor got tired of rebooting the system and didn't let me control it during takeoff or landing like those before me did.

The next year's Sunday School teacher took us flying in a 4 person private plane once. I had somewhere to go later that day though so I had to leave after only one ride, in the backseat right behind the pilot. If I hadn't had to leave early I could have operated the controls as we did another loop around Stone Mountain.

and in the backseat right behind the pilot of a 4 person plane.

I prefer window seats for the view, and to be near the middle of the plane or forward so I'm not on the plane all that long after it pulls up to the gate. Although slightly behind the wings has its benefits, as watching the flaps can be interesting. Emergency exit rows are nice because of the extra legroom, although I rarely book far enough ahead of time to get one.

I didn't vote for any first/business class because I've never flown it, mostly because it's too expensive, but also because they aren't that common on the routes I usually fly. I'm sure it would be a nice way to fly, but it's well beyond my budget.

The best flights tend to be the ones where I hit it off well with whoever's next to me, though. Despite this, on 1|2 left|aisle|right configurations (the most common config I fly on - very cramped Embraer 135/145's used for regional flights), I've traditionally chosen the 1-width left side a lot - now that I actually analyze it I realize perhaps I should be choosing the 2-width right side more if window seats are available.

As for planes, I like MD-88's and Airbus A319's a lot, amongst the planes I fly somewhat often. Embraer 135/145's are my least favorite, with the Bombardier Q200 probably second-least favorite.

Since there wasn't an "in the cargo bay" choice, I rageclicked them all :mwaha:

Any window seat is good for me for the view + not having people bother you while you do stuff. One with a bit of leg room is also nice, for instance next to an emergency exit. If it's a really short flight, preferably near the door so it doesn't take too long to get out. Otherwise, I really don't mind about the length of time to get out... a few minutes doesn't make much difference after 10-12 hours.
