And in my opinion there is no reason to claim that western part of Russia is not Europe.

Piedmont - a region of Italy in which Torino is located. So there must be something in it...

Warsaw was called "Paris of the North" (alternatively also "Paris of the East") before WW2. So who knows.

Heck, even Tromsø has been referred to as "Paris of the North".

My version says that Gondor definitely isn't part of Europe, but Rohan might be. But, it's possible that I'm not using the standard set.


edit: My post originally included a question to the effect of "how is Russia not part of Europe?", hence Borachio's response, but I deleted it because I thought that it's probably been answered in here somewhere already, and I'm either just missing it or not quite following people's arguments. Apologies for possible confusion!

Because Europe is only conventionally defined, and since Russia has no political intention of becoming part of the EU, it's become part of the accepted view that Europe ends at Poland, at the moment.
