the picture shows the (byzantine) hagia sophia (color of the blue mosque is different). and as posted in the other thread it should say "ottoman" and not "ottomans". Makes not too much sense. But i might be wrong.

Context please. Who is your friend? Why is it significant that this is the last image he sent? Did he die or something? Was he discovered as a leaker, and did he find safe haven? XD

sorry for being unclear: I meant it should be "Ottoman" in the video title and not Ottomans, because they always referred to the Civs like that in the FL Videos (Aztec, Brazil, France and not Aztecs, Brazilians, French). The lighting in the screenshot (we can see were the sun is) let's me doubt it is the blue mosque at sunset. Architecture does fit tough.

The Aztec/Aztecs have usually been refered in their plural forms (The Aztecs, The Incans.
Not sure, but Ottomans I believe have usually been refered to as "Ottomans" and not "Ottoman" in previous game when naming their noun (with Ottoman being their adjective)
As it stands right now we have 9 civilizations revealed. If we go with what Firaxis has said and confirmed about there being 18 civilizations in game at launch, then we have 9 more civilizations to be revealed. We also have 9 weeks remaining before the game launches (time period of August 14 - October 15). If they keep the trend going of one civilization revealed per week then we get the grand total of 18 with the Aztecs being one of those 18 and part of the pre-order deal. The remaining four (of the 22 shown on the board) will then end up being the four DLC civilizations.
So I'm sticking with the pattern of Firaxis doing civilization first reveals on Tuesday which leaves them the rest of the week open to putting out any other info about game mechanics.

Okay, so if we say for a second you have correctly identified the building, then the leader would have to be a post Suleiman the magnificent leader; that is to say an Ottoman ruler during a time the Ottomans were in decline. That choice would make little sense.
So, I am still inclined to think that it is the Hagia Sophia in that picture, and that Mehmed II is the leader.

Appeareantly you have missed the number of memos where, it's not necessairly how great a leader was, the question is whether Ahmed's got a great personality. That is the core basis of how they have chosen the leaders.
They haven't shown any consistency with putting out game info mechanics but they haven't broken their trend of first reveals at the start of the week. I think the times they doubled up was when they needed to in order to get the info out on time for all 18 civilizations.

I checked the Hagia Sofia. It has similar domes, but not in close proximity to windows of that style. Also, stepped dome architecture is on the back side of the HS. Both features are in close proximity and located on the front side of the Blue Mosque. The BM is also the place of worship for Sultans and is close proximity to the Topkapi Palace. So it makes quite a bit of sense for a Sultan to be pictured with it.

I've seen your arguments, yes, but there other things at play in those cases (Trying to include female leader, etc.), and I was not arguing that leaders would not be included in the game in most of these cases, just that I did not like the inlcusion of certain leaders. Ahmed was beaten by the Persians in a war, and lost a lot of territory for the empire-not only not a great leader, arguably a poor one.
And even if it is his mosque in the background, it is not necessarily him; some later leaders like Murad IV would arguably make more sense. Murad IV restored the Ottoman empire to some extent, beating the Persians decisively, and ruled for a lot longer. He also is undeniably a 'big personality'; he was famously strong, a capable military leader and notoriously cruel.
A quote from wikipedia:
Murad IV also banned alcohol, tobacco, and coffee in Constantinople. He ordered execution for breaking this ban.He would reportedly patrol the streets and the lowest taverns of Istanbul in civilian clothes at night, policing the enforcement of his command by casting off his disguise on the spot and beheading the offender with his own hands. Rivaling the exploits of Selim the Grim, he would sit in a kiosk by the water near his Seraglio Palace and shoot arrows at any boat man who rowed too close to his imperial compound. He restored the judicial regulations by very strict punishments, including execution, he once strangled a grand vizier for the reason that the official had beaten his mother-in-law. Historians including Halil İnalcık as well as primary sources report that even though he was a ruthless supporter of alcohol prohibition, Murad IV was a habitual drinker himself.

Well I suppose you are right then. Still, that just confirms the leader ruled the empire since the construction of that mosque, not necessarily that it is Ahmed. Mahmud II and Murad IV would both seem better choices to me. Also, if we ignore successful leadership, then what is it about Ahmed that makes him someone that would well represent the Ottomans?

That guy sounds worse then Caligula! Would be a bit weird borderline racist to portray a civ with such a [not a nice person], one the other hand could be fun...

Racist? I'm sorry, but that is way too politically correct! Is Shaka for the Zulu racist- he could even be seen as reflecting racist stereotypes about African tribalism. Would Ivan IV for Russia be racist? Vlad III for Romania? I have no idea why you would compare that to racism. It's like saying Hollywood commonly casting English villains is racist.
That being said, yes, his excessive cruelty could put Firaxis off putting him in the game, and maybe they would feel that Turkish people would be offended, but racist certainly seems a strange term to use!

18 was the total originaly slated for launch. But Beach and others have suggested adjustments will be made on the game before the release date. Meaning not all is set in stone maybe. Perhaps they will make room for 4 additional Civs to bring it to 22.
