Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, a Spanish film from the eighties. My first time with this director (Pedro Almodóvar), but definitely not the last. Loved his use of color and interesting props. Also will be looking for more Carmen Maura. Dios mio!

Ah , yes, that's one of his best-known films.

In case we forgot that Hollywood is a wretched hive of scum and villainy... :shake:

Matthew Vaughn said:
“I said, ‘What is this?’ They said, ‘This is the Halle Berry script, because she hasn’t signed on yet. This is what she wants it to be. And once she signs on, we’ll throw it in the bin.’ I thought, if you’re going to do that to an Oscar-winning actress, I quit.”

What would even be the point of that? Why needlessly irritate your major stars like that?

Because studio execs might just be a bunch of little ****s?

Because X2 made $400 million and because Berry is a woman, who'd had a 1 or 2 flops headlining a movie. I mean, this was when Hollywood was covering for at least one known serial rapist (and I guess I'm assuming that H'wood doesn't still do this, which may be naive). Just being a [donkey] was probably the normal state of affairs (and even if it's not considered normal anymore, it was just a couple of months ago that one of the big CEOs said he was going to starve out the families of the striking writers, rather than make a deal).

Vive L'Empereur!

According to the article Halle Berry had not yet signed up to do the film and they desperately wanted her to sign. However, she wanted the movie to contain scenes of her Storm character saving children in an African village in order for her to agree to do the film. So they wrote up a script that included those scenes, fully intending to cut them once she signed the contract to do the film.

Napoleon is not out yet, I don't believe. Looking forward to seeing it.

Watched Annie Hall last night. I'd say it's my introduction to Woody Allen, but I'm almost sure I watched ONE of his films in college, but that's been fifteen years ago so I can't say for certain. This one was funny, at any rate, and had cameos from Christopher! Walk-en, Jeff Godblum, and frickin' Marshall McLuhan.

Did you spot Sigourney Weaver and Sylvester Stallone?

I've been doing a weekly watch party with a friend for the new episode of Loki and then watching a movie afterward. Last week's movie was Elemental, which was very good. I had low expectations and generally think the latest era of animated movies has been unappealing, especially after suffering through Soul. 8.5/10.

Well, even if she didn't specify such scenes in  that contract, such shenanigans may prompt actors to consider specifying "red line" scenes in future contracts.

Did they actually intend to film them and then cut them, or just cut them from the script before filming? I've seen both done.

Tons of stuff gets cut from most all movies

They Call Me Trinity

There are okay comedies..and good comedies..and really funny comedies..and super duper great comedies..and then there are classic lines from the best :)
Not everything is awesome here, there are some lengths..but when those legends hit they instantly throw me off my chair.
10/10 of course

Below Zero on Netflix. Spanish thriller. Excellent and satisfying. A prison transfer goes sideways.

Saw Winnie the pooh Blood and Honey.

Yup, it was exactly what I expected.
It cost $100,000 to make, set a low bar, and hopped over it.

My main question was why everyone in the town had British accents.
It was a UK film. :o

The masks could have used more work and maybe another few $1000 worth of effort.

Bit of an old-school slasher film with a sledge hammer specialization.
They don't move the camera away at the last second at all.

Eeyore was originally the donkey character I think in the children's story.

Redeeming qualities?
None!
Campy, gory, and banal.
It has a sequel coming too because it made like a x50 profit.
