In Spanish it is the same, so I was confused for the longest time as both my parents referred to them as fingers.

Anyway, I am the only person I know whose second toe is small and stumpy and the same size as my other toes minus my big toe instead of long and elongated like everyone elses. I feel like a freak of nature.

Really? That's really weird. In French toe is 'orteil' and finger is 'doigt'. I'm confused on why some of these European languages don't have a word for them...
