I remember thinking that Solo was better than I anticipated when I watched it, but now I can't really remember a thing about it.
Same. Also...

@hobbsyoyo and
@civvver ...remember that we have a dedicated
All Things Star Wars thread where the movies, particularly the latest installment, are being discussed in earnest.
Going against my usual rule of not watching movies with poor audience AND critics RT ratings... I watched
Fantastic Beasts:Crimes of Grindenwald over the holiday. My wife and I had been re-watching all the Harry Potter movies as Amazon was offering them all for free, so after watching them we decided to watched the
Fantastic Beasts movies as well. I had seen the first one before but not the second installment. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. The movie was actually pretty good and nowhere near as terrible as I expected it to be, given the RT ratings. I'm not really sure why the ratings are so low TBH.
The two things that disappointed me , SPOILER ALERT... were that:1) They didn't go anywhere near as deep into Dumbledore's family origins and what happened between him, his brother, his sister and Grindenwald, as I expected (which was really the whole reason I ignored the RT ratings and watched it anyway); and 2) In spite of the title... they never really show, or give any detailed explanation of WTH any of Grindenwald's so called "crimes" were... other than him having racist ideology. I mean he escapes from "prison" or "police" custody at the outset of the film... but they don't really show why he was there in the first place.
So it seems like he is essentially a political prisoner for being a bigot... although the knowledge of his bigotry seems more implied as a result of his followers' actions and statements rather than his own public statements. As I understand it though, they are doing a third film, so maybe they will explain more in that one.
