What is this, Fallout?:p

If you are going to re-divide the country, why use existing states and boundaries? Just get rid of Texas altogether and call it all Gulf and give the rest of it to the other neighbors. Why does the Northeast get so much Pacific frontage?

I would say the Gulf, as long as we divide Texas between the other surrounding Commonwealths.

Same reason a Vancouver-Seattle conurbation becomes the location for the headquarters of the organization representing humanity's political, economic, and military might in a few hundred years. Political power nobody knew they had.

I would say the Gulf, as long as we divide Texas between the other surrounding Commonwealths.
The Texas Commonwealth borders make me chuckle every time.

You cannot divide Texas. Texas is the one true state, perfect in its size and shape.

That being said, I haven't the slightest idea how we have more to do with Arkansas than Louisiana. Maybe that's because I'm from Houston.

If I wanted the monopoly of the Gulf, I could divide it any way I wanted after the fallout.

Speaking of Texas, can the Union legally secede from Texas?

I'd prefer if they broke it into smaller pieces and then gave half of those pieces to Mexico and used the other half to restart above-ground nuclear testing. :p

No commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands???? What is this? I want that Guam on a map

HA! I've always told DT that Ohio wasn't in the midwest!

Anyway, Plains Commonwealth FTW followed closely by North Common wealth with Midwest Commonwealth rounding out the top three.

The Columbia Commonwealth of course, because I'm from it. Which, pollmaster, also includes Delaware, Maryland's little brother.
Delaware is my favourite US state, because beyond its geographic location, I honestly don't know a goddam thing about it. Even non-places like North Dakota I know a little bit about, but Delaware? Total mystery. What language do they talk? What colour is the sky? Do hambugers eat people? Who knows!?

Yes, those are the sort of options I was expecting in the poll: territories which actually are commonwealths of the United States. Puerto Rico would be another example.

Or, more cleverly, be a poll regarding states which call themselves a commonwealth (although that is not their legal status) e.g. the Commonwealth of Virginia.
