Why Bill O'Reily is such as great journalist

You can't always agree with everything he says, but can you honestly say there is someone who you agree with all of the time? But I'd say 80-90% of the time he makes a good point. And 95%-100% of the time, he's not trying to mislead anyone. He gets angry, yes. Some times he acts like a madman because he's angry. But at the end he always recollects his calm and let his opponents have the last word.

The amount of blind hatred shown for Bill O'Reily in this thread disgusts me. It only proves that none of you are tolerant.

I tried to watch him unbiased once. It disguted me. What disgusts me is that you conservatives always are accusing us Liberals of having blind hatred towards Conservatives. It's just not true, get over it.

What the hell? This is a guy who still believes in WMD, and who boycotts France.

So basicly your argue that he is a great journalist because he eventually lets his guests speak?

WMD are real things. A lot of countries have them. If you're talking about WMDs in Iraq, they're unconfirmed, so anyone can sway either way on this issue. Boycotting France has nothing to do with the integrity of his reports. I'm boycotting Vietnamese beef. Does that mean I tell lies or that I hate Vietnam? No! I think the Vietnamese are an excellent tribe of people. I just don't think that their beef is safe.

Bill: I'll let you have the last word.
Guest: "x" is hurting America, and we need to seriously consider that and fix the problem by doing "y."
Bill: Well, we all know that's just stupid. And now we need to take a commercial break.

Gee, what a sport! The last word!

Personally, I find I agree with Bill's newspaper columns. Often they're spot on. But I avoid political commentators on television like the plague. I've been one; I know the games they play; I've played them all myself.

He's a great journalist because he presents both sides of the stories. Even in his viewer emails he shows both sides of the stories.

Yes they do. Look through this damn thread. I once saw someone (Rambuchan I think) say that Fox News should be shut down. They claim to be tolerant, but truth is they actually hate everything that disagrees with them.

Ram put forth a well-researched, scathing criticism of the commercial media in general and Fox News in specific. Whether you agree with him or not, at least recognize that his thread was most certainly not an "I disagree with them; they are therefore evil" rant.

Having said that, there are plenty of people with an "I disagree with them; they are therefore evil" mindset. On both sides.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to realise which emails to put on the show, (from both sides of the story). I am not american, I don't follow american politics, but I find the man immensely annoying, inpolite and biased. I do not find his shows to be balanced, his guests fairly selected, or his topics really worth watching.

That's just my non american, unbiased opinion.

By the way, I also avoid watching Larry King incase he bores me to death!

I wont comment on the thread, but the comment about shutting Fox down proves that the seemingly more inteligent lefties are intolerant.

Edit: He also said that "Fox has more in common with Tom & Jerry than news". Even if he does make good points every now and then, he is just as blindly hatred as anyone else.

Having said that, there are plenty of people with an "I disagree with them; they are therefore evil" mindset. On both sides.

True, but I can come to this forum and see lots of conservative bashing. Not so much liberal bashing, though.

Way to take the extreme and apply it to all. I don't say all Conservatives are trolls just because garric is one. The ones that hate people who disagree with them are Conservatives.

Ah...hardly. You dont see such threads about Al Franken here do you? But you can see more than a few about Foxnews and O'Reilly.

I really dont understand the hatred directly at O'Reilly. I think he basically tells it like it is. I find I agree with him far more often than not, especially about things like child abuse and Jessica's Law.

Basically, O'Rielly is reviled because HE IS RIGHT thus, the old tactic of screaming hated is required because that is the only way to combat truth.

Go ahead and make them, all you Conservatives do is go into threads and troll against Liberals.

I can, he's stupid, he makes up information, he's a hypocrite, and he's biased.

Sure, we can have an Al Franken bashing thread, and tell you what, I'll Join in.

The man seriously claimed that wherewolf never existed, it was all an idea made up by the evil bush administration...and Robert Ley, Heinrich Himmler and Albert Speer. :crazyeye:

I am not calling you on that claim just yet, but I would like to see evidence of him making stuff up.

Whether he is stupid or not is irrelevant, though I seriously doubt anybody who is truly stupid could be a best-selling author, prime-time host, AND host of a popular radio show.

As far as being biased goes, I doubt you'll get anyone to disagree with that. His show is an advocacy and/or ananytical show, not a "news" show. He talks about things he wants to talk about and he thinks are important.

Now, back to the making stuff up. If you can provide some information on that, I'd like to see some evidence of it.

There is the issue of the Made up Peabody award. Usually even the most rudementary of Journalistic methods can be used to discover significant events in ones own life. I'll be posting more

September 19th 2005 Bill O'Reilly claimed
"Under President Clinton, the tax rate climbed higher than at any time in history except in World War II. President Bush then came in and cut taxes for everyone. And guess what? Federal tax revenues will be more this year than at any time during the Clinton administration."

The highest rate under clinton was 39.6 percent for those making over $250,000 dollars. In 1955 it was 59 percent, in 1965 it was 53 percent, in 1975 it was 60 percent, and in 1985 it was 50 percent. So the first part of his claim is complete crap. As for the second part of his claim, that is also false.
