I see cats as sacred animals, so I'm against eating them.
I don't like dogs, but I sure as hell don't wanna kill dogs for their meat, so I'm against eating dogs too.
Anyone who eats cats and/or dogs deserve no mercy whatsoever. No exceptions.
Why can't you have an attachment to cows or pigs? Happens on farms all the time (exc. factory farms) and they rarely have qualms eating them
I don't really care if I sound stupid.Anyone who eats Cows deserves no mercy whatsoever. No exceptions.
See how stupid that sounds? (unless your Indian) I love my cats, but if we ate cats in America, I would have no problem with eating them.
What if they're bad dogs?I don't really care if I sound stupid.
My statement stands.
If I tried them, and they tasted good, I wouldn't mind it.
But so far, I haven't had the opportunity.
Because they are common companions. You don't eat your friends.Same here. I don't see why people are more emotionally attached to cats and dogs.
You don't eat your friends.
It's simply cultural: We (Westerners) are not used to think of lots of animals as food.Simple question, inspired partially by the vegetarianism thread, and partially by the pets thread.
I personally do not eat dogs and cats because I see them as 'pets' more than 'animals'.
But what it is about them that makes it seem much less acceptable to eat them to you (assuming you find it much less acceptable to eat them...)? Is it more right to eat a cow or pig than a dog or cat because we feel more of an attachment to the latter pair?
Dolphins is a bit different, since they're quite threatened by extinction. If you can point me out a dolphin specie that isn't threatened, I would probably want to eat a bit. After all, I do eat whales. To extend this further, would you have an aversion to eating dolphin, for example, and why?
I think it would be pretty hard for me to eat a being I was emotionally attached to, whether that being would be a sheep, a dog, a cow or a whale. I prefer to eat "anonymous" animals.I find it interesting that there isn't as much of an aversion to eating cats, dogs and dolphins as I had anticipated. Is this due to a lack of emotional attachment to these animals, or the belief that such an emotional attachment is not a valid reason not to eat them?
No exceptions? Fascinating.Anyone who eats cats and/or dogs deserve no mercy whatsoever. No exceptions.
I have considered this, since I am allergic to both dogs and cats. However, I'm actually much more allergic to horse and cow (their fur makes me unable to breath), and horse and cow meat is absolutely delicious! So I'll take my chances, and probably I'm not allergic to the dog meat itself.Allergies
Plus I can't find any recipes for dog or cat. How do you expect me to eat them?
I don't think there's anything wrong with eating any animal as long as its already dead. If its dead you can't hurt it anymore by eating it. I'd be willing to give it a try.
This is how I feel. One does not eat one's family/friends. Or other peoples' family/friends.I would never eat a dog or a cat, it would be just as bad as cannibalism in my opinion. Dogs and cats have evolved with humans over thousands of years, not to mention there freaking precious.
