2020 US Election (Part Two)

The way Trump has been acting in foreign affairs, I seriously doubt Biden can be worse. At least Biden will be the usual US warmonger/out of touch. Trump uses foreign affairs just to run his own hotel businesses or get lobby backing.
The comparison is between a senile figurehead (Biden) and a self-serving cretin (Trump).
Now, maybe if the Corona hadn't happened, Usians would still choose Trump, but thankfully this is very unlikely now.

If I would bet on it yes
but
The "not sure" voters are more than 20% and increasing the last weeks

Biden's best strategy is to stay as much out of the spotlight as possible - same he did in the primaries.

That would be my guess as well !

Though we both are far away over the pond outsiders with some interest in US politics

Taken from the National Review magazine:

[CBS News’ Errol] BARNETT: Please clarify specifically, have you taken a cognitive test?

FORMER VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: No, I haven’t taken a test! Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man! That’s like saying you . . . before you got in this program, you’re take [sic] a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not. What do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?

BARNETT: What do you say to President Trump who brags about his test and makes your mental state an issue for voters?

BIDEN: Well, if he can’t figure out the difference between an elephant and a lion, I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Did you watch that — look, come on, man. I know you’re trying to goad me, but I mean . . . I’m so forward-looking to have an opportunity to sit with the President or stand with the President and the debates.
I think if Trump loses to Biden, it will also be his own fault. When Trump makes the odd statement where you kind of step back and say “huh...” he has unwittingly paved the way for the man of the hour of “huh” statements to replace him. Has his strength turned out to be his own weakness? It would be amusing if the circumstances weren’t so terrible.

Trump vs Biden is a repeat of how Borges described the Falklands Malvinas war:
"Two bald men fighting over a comb".

Or, as the more elegant ancient greek saying puts it:
"(Like) dogs fighting in a well" (both victor and vanquished are goners)

These two have to be the two worst speakers in American history. Even GWB seems like a majestic orator by comparison.

Spoiler Donald Trump-style reply :
George W. Bush was a disaster at talking.

He couldn't talk to anyone. Trust me, I have people that talk and they say, "this guy George, is not a good talker."

A disaster!

I've been talking for years, and I think some would say maybe I'm the best talker ever. Everyone says it.

Spoiler Joe Biden style-reply :
George Washington Bush? That's talking about two Presidents. Only one of them ever crossed the Atlantic. Potomac.

You know what I mean.

Now you're trying to throw me off.

You're a slippery wax monkey.

No, whoever wins and whoever loses, the fault, and the criminal and treasonous failure to and betrayal of the nation resulting therefrom, will be on the head of the corrupt party caudillos - the DNC and RNC - the bipartisan, NOT non-partisan, as they should be, and are in most other First World Nations, FEC and Federal Judges, and the media giants granted power to run debates and monopolize coverage to force partisan agendas - who are guilty of NUMEROUS counts of electoral malfeasance and interference for decades - the VERY SAME CRIMES the enigmatic "Russian hackers," of 2016 were alleged to have committed - not necessarily for deciding in advance who WILL win like many African and Asian Dominant Party Systems and Post-Soviet Party-of-Power Systems do, but, instead, who will ABSOLUTELY NOT win - a result just as criminal and rigged, for all intents and purposes, in the long run.

@Patine, both Trump and Biden won/are winning their respective nominations from fair elections. If you want party insiders choosing candidates, go back to before the 1970's.

@Patine, both Trump and Biden won/are winning their respective nominations from fair elections. If you want party insiders choosing candidates, go back to before the 1970's.

But all candidates who are NOT Republican or Democrat are institutionally locked out of contention by coverage, ballot-access, advertising limits, fundraising limits, never being invited to debates since Perot in '92, and a Hell of a lot other institutional impediments by organizations that are supposed to be neutral and non-partisan in other First World Nations. A good example. In the 2010 Mid-Term elections, the Green Party candidate for Texas Senate was disqualified for filing for candidacy one day late. He then discovered that both the Republican and Democratic candidates for Texas Senate that year had filed a WEEK late. He went to a Federal Court in Texas to have them taken off the ballot, too. The case was SUMMARILY DISMISSED WITHOUT BEING HEARD IN COURT! The deck is firmly and corruptly against any non-Duopoly candidate, as firmly as it is against any true opponent of United Russia in the Russian Federation. And, since the Republican and Democratic Parties are ones with long histories of failure, lies, screwing their people, high crimes, betrayals of the trust, seditious secrets, treason, and corruption against their people and nation, and kowtowing to Plutocratic Oligarchs over, and often in defiance, of their own constituents and the very laws that bind them, and then put themselves above the competence of common law-enforcement and courts, these are the two parties that have overstayed their welcome, need to BOTH be voted out of power, and meet the political demise they've so deserved for so long, but have made impossible because of thorough and CRIMINAL electoral rigging.

@Patine, I can’t find that Texas case. I looked for it (googling “tx green party senate late 2010” and other variants.)

I read the article a decade ago, when it was fresh. I don't have any bookmarks to websites left from that period. Google is not my friend anymore, and it shouldn't be yours. It has become an aggravating and crappy excuse for a search engine, and I usually have to filter through TONNES of dross to get any meaningful results outside hot and current zeitgeist stories from a Western perspective. I just wish a better alternative existed that was well known and not plagued with things like advertising and cookies and crap.

:dunno:

Personal anecdote but I always find what I’m looking for. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the Google Books interface doesn’t have a mobile version, or if it does, is incompatible with my old iPhone I’m using here.

Biden did good in a debate with Bernie, I dont know if he can make it thru 3 intact but Trump aint exactly an inspirational speaker either.

The debates will end up like two old men in a dementia ward. And then the REAL horror will dawn at having to choose one of these senile half-zombies...

What you show there isn't "undecided voters", but which candidate voters think will win. There's a rather significant difference between the two.

Oh, but wouldn't a REAL choice be nice, and prevent another election with an abysmal candidate guaranteed to win, because major party candidates are abysmal, to join 1852, 1920, 1968, 2004, and 2016. When are real criminals guilty of electoral malfeasance and interference in the U.S. - as opposed to phantom "Russian hackers," - and who have been committing these electoral crimes for almost every election in the U.S. for decades, going to face criminal justice for their high offenses against the nation, and then they, and the organizations they work through, FOREVER AFTER divorced from the electoral process, or completely dissolved and replaced with an analog that fits modern First Worlds standards of impartiality.

Oh, but wouldn't a REAL choice be nice,....
Sure a lot of things would be nice. Most of those "wouldn't it be nice..." ideas are not likely in any immediate sense. There is a real world we live in and have to deal with.

Now, on the issue of the Senate...it was also designed as a sop to the slave states, due to the population issue mentioned in the Madison quote here. The North's preponderance in voting-eligible population meant that it would inevitably dominate any legislature which was properly "democratic," ie, one which gave equal representation to people on a one-person, one-vote basis. The Senate meant that rather than having to outweigh the North massively in population so that they could hold their own in the House of Representatives with the right to vote restricted to a smaller subset of white men, all the slave states would need to do was ensure at minimum, an equal number of slave and free states to ensure that their power in the Senate could forever veto any Northern attempts to limit or abolish slavery.
Which was one of the underlying issues simmering and ultimately boiling over into Civil War. The slave states were starting to lose ground to the free states and tensions and violence were resulting as the slave states were becoming outnumbered and thus worried that the institution of slavery would thus be banned nationwide by the free state majority.
