Putin doesn't really have hair, but seems to be good for Russia (better than Yeltsin, who had more hair :) )

Not that it is difficult to accept that most people see the president/prime minister as somehow the face of the country, and take it (in some way) to a literal level.

You don't think America was in love with Reagan's hair?

You don't think Reagan knew that America was in love with his hair? I mean he dyed it and everything.

I'm not doubting, it's just a vastly amusing realization. I mean, you still want to win one for somebody, right? If only he had some sort of online mafia game to really get people jazzed up with him. Hehehehe.

I remember a comedian years back, I forget which, doing a bit where he showed pictures that Russia was following a balding-full hair-balding-full hair pattern of selecting leaders. It was uncanny at the time.

When my parents were kids, those were called "movies"... and he had several so...

At some point it changed to "reality TV"... and here we are...

I'm just thinking, you could have ACTUALLY won one with the Gip, or whatever. Good lord. Thank you, the puzzle pieces have clicked on that one. I was being slow.

Just watched the clip... the Gipper was pretty good ... a regular Kevin Spacey... jeez no wonder he won so handily.

EDIT: Youtube showed me a clip after that had the panel, Jerry Lewis in particular, making some naughty jokes towards the guest that would get his ass cancelled nowadays. Then Walt Disney came on which was kinda cool, particularly seeing him sign his name... really interesting to see tv from the past... it shows how much things have changed... and also how much things have stayed the same.

That and Archbishop Fulton Sheen are the best two of those celebrity episodes to watch, that I've found. But yeah, it was weird for me, seeing him young. Actually, Yul is up there too.

What happened to the laptop from hell thread? So are the photos fake? What's the latest in American media?

It didn't get picked up at all in this part of the world. Is it due to a lizard people conspiracy? The ghost of Khomeini pulling strings?

Just look at a picture of Arden versus a picture of Bernie. Bernie just isn't physically attractive enough to pull off his message, because he looks too old. I've been saying this all along. A candidate who had Bernie's message but looked like Arden would have beaten Hillary in 2016, and could possibly have won the nomination in 2020.

Attractive people generally get it easier. Ardern also has charisma and oozes empathy.

Charisma is the big one though. Best message in the world won't matter if people don't like you.

Anyway, not to restart the argument, but to be a bit more helpful and less taunting. If you legitimately can't vote for Biden, there are still a ton of races at lower levels that are competitive, even in deep blue/red states. As well as a ton of ballot initiatives which are simple yes/no questions, no personalities involved.

https://whatsontheballot.com/

Stuff like voting rights, weed legislation, a campaign by Uber and Lyft to keep treating their workers like ****, Prosecutors (who can decide sentencing, review cases and decide to prosecute at all), sheriffs (who can decide if local enforcement cooperates with ICE or not), Governors, legislatures, etc.

Could also generally be useful for knowing who is who, even for people who knew they were going to vote anyway. I've seen an example of US ballots, and some have shockingly poor designs and wording.

It’s a shame though that they have some cool names for their things. I mean, I want to be a Grand Imperial Wizard. That sounds awesome!

Extremist groups wreck all the neat stuff.
Darth Vader gets the cool cape, helmet and black shiny boots.

Indeed, comrades, polar opposition in terms of capillaria per capita is what gives legitimacy to the ruler in Russia.

Judging from the emotional investment I see here about the election, this poll is probably right. You really did not need this on top of all the other problems. But it's another thing already locked in.

I saw the new Borat film, and one of the most politically poignant moments of the film, but easily lost among all the gags, is when he goes to CPAC and Mike Pence is speaking about the new coronavirus emergence, and he says:

Mike Pence said:
"As of today, we have 15 cases of coronavirus, with only 1 new case detected in the last two weeks. And while the risk to the American public remains low, as the President said yesterday, we're ready, we're ready for anything."
SMFH :shake:.. just... chilling.
