Cobalt Command
Destroyer of Worlds
Thought I'd go ahead and share a little something I've been working on for about a week, with frequent breaks of course.
This is the main setting of the first third of a story I have been planning to write for quite some time now. I posted a hand drawn map of what gave me the idea for the second third like a week and a half ago, but this I finally decided to define so I could share it on here and get a little bit of progress done. The map itself takes place just before what I've dubbed "Chaos Rising" as The Cobalt Knights powerful influence throughout their region begins to crumble from within; both internally and abroad. Below I've decided to explain a bit about the three most distinct and inhabited regions of the map, with some commentary on those inhabitants.
The Rainforest: That dark green colored peninsula and islandy bit in the south? It's inhabited by tribal elven pirates that have for centuries pretty much blocked off trade from one side of the continent to the other. The red outlined area's are the three "civilized" elven nations who attempt to conform to human like nation patterns. Their countries are however built on the back's of a slave race known of as "Troggs," basically a five foot tall bipedal chimp who's intelligence is somewhere between the former and humanity. The area is next to impossible to navigate with pirates practically always ready, and mangroves literally connecting some islands seasonally. Not many venture here and return.
The Desert: Sand that extends for miles in every direction. Not much can live here, with trading and mining connecting the scattered human settlements along The Great River and rare Oases. The Great River is the safe rout for goods from North to South and vice versa if you can lug it across the treacherous mountain passes; but more on that later. The sand does harbor the loosely connect Brother's of Skaar, a very religious humanoid snake that lives alone in the most remote parts of the desert, only meeting for mating and religious services. They pay homage to Skaar, a long lost Dragon who is said to have created them centuries ago. It's not often they are in the human settlements, but once in awhile they'll be about, ready to be contracted for assassinations or trading of trinkets found in the sands.
The Mountains: Only two races inhabit these areas regularly, those being the Digg'uhz, and The Oni. The first is sort of a mole like Goblin standing 3 feet high. They dig, obviously, and make their residence here mainly because humanity views them much like vermin. They speak comon languages, but not very well, and they're only really useful for trading of scrap. While they live here, they are frequently seen everywhere else on the continent. The Oni are something different, something not entirely of this world... said to have been created centuries ago when demons 'mated' with the now extinct Ogres, they roam aimlessly about the northern mountain ranges in packs, scaring off humans from walking in all but the safest of mountain passes. If you saw the movie "Sucker Punch," just imagine the metal suited warriors who were in the first fight. They stand 9 to 10 feet tall, and their eye's look like smouldering embers, and no other organic part of their bodies are visible.
I'd love to post more, so if any one likes the upcoming map and is interested, I'd be more than happy to explain further.
I'd also like to point out that there's nothing really going on on the West Coast of the continent because.... well... to be perfectly honest, _I_ don't even know what's going on over there.

And yeah, I know the KEY is rubbish.
