Altered Maps XII: Not to Scale

Well, you guys ended up inspiring me a bit, and I've started to work on it again.

'cept this time I'm starting over with a new map, in order to clean it up a bit and make the borders more realistic. This also gives me the chance to add more pleasing colors and eye-candy (like color coding dependencies to their master).

This is the progress so far:

I wonder if there's a Eurowank postapocalyptic America scenario around that doesn't have the Mormons running Utah.

It's too great of an opportunity to miss :p Plus, it's entirely plausible.

@Joecoolyo:
Do go on.

Also, the future of the Netherlands is blue :)

Joe, you should probably increase the transparency on the political part of that map, or maybe turn it into a border glow instead of a flood-fill. It's hard to make out geographical features with that on - you might as well have free-handed it in that case.

I'm not really sure how to do that with Paint.NET, since it refuses to save pictures without flattening all the layers I've made into one.

I'll tinker with it though, I'm not that far so it's not like I can't just do it again except with more transparency.

EDIT: Oh derp, I could do it just by saving it as a PDN file instead of a PNG. That should makes things so much easier.

that's if you want to save them as something else than a pdn.

Yeah, just realized. Paint.NET just got that much better!

:lol:

The creator of xkcd recently made a map of Earth shifted by 90° (with the prime meridian as new equator), with a general guess of the resulting climate:

I'd have to move to New York or Osaka to escape the heat!

More like Manila or Dubai.

That would actually be a pretty fun map to play for Civilisation.

@Joe

I reject the notion that San Jose could ever be considered "Southern California". And you cut the city in half, at that.
