So many euro countries were secretly huge.
Well, apart from Greece, and England.

I don't think the Scots and the Welsh will like that map.
On the positive side, there's Ireland.
Some of the larger islands were just named geographically and not nationally in the map- though the larger island obviously is Great Britain.
I am not sure why Germany extends all the way to Slovakia, though.

Old map? Ukraine is in Russian control, and Yugoslavia exists
Yes, old, but was there any time where Germany had this border and (say) Hungary that one?
Maybe it's from the period of the Moravian protectorate etc, before the "gifts" to Hungary.

Google gives a different map for "just before ww2", with the gift(s) to Hungary, without Slovakia-in-Germany and also without Lithuania-in-Germany.

The map is a very poor rendition of Europe in the late 1930s. The pre-war colonial empires were usually much larger than the controlling nation. You could do the same for Belgium, Netherlands, and Britain.

With India, Australia and much of Africa would Britain fit?

that's some English langusge media of 1930s supporting the Portuguese Estado Novo in its claim that it gives up the exploitationary aspects of colonial regimes and all the coloured peoples would EVENTUALLY become full citizens of the country and possibly Democracy in the 21st or 22nd Century . If it is no longer a regular Colonial Regime it can seriously claim Angola to Timor as its own , Ultramar being the same with Metropolitan Portugal . Like supposedly they had some Black citizens in 1500s or whatever , lacking enough number of Whites and whatnot .

from Ireland one could assume this is some American map .

What an inconsistent country-naming choice though.

Ex-Yugoslavia: bear country. And I guess you could say that the bear has taken over Belarus.
There are some in Greece too, particularly near the border with Albania.
Some countries sneakily expanded, taking advantage of continuously colored regions.

Chinese Kyrgzstan... I think they made the same mistake on the board of the game Twilight Struggle :)

Belarus and Russia together; well, that's not too far from reality, isn't it? Russia and Azerbaijan, that's a new one. Eritrea and Ethiopia is a bit in the past...

What a mess.
