Alternate History Thread IV: The Sequel

I wouldn't mind giving up Italy if there was a chance for an American Revolution in the Arcadia TL. As for the Unlightenment TL, I'd like to reserve Denmark if that ends up being the TL that is chosen.:)

Edit: Josef said he left for good a little while back in WWW.

I simply forgot many details since then. I guess I can try and dig stuff up from everywhere in this forum, but that would take a lot of time. If you do it for me, I'll see what I can do. :p

This is the part where you read the history of the TL and stop talking. :p But keep Italy. Or take Denmark in the Arcadia TL, I'm settled on that now.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of the following: Panda, LittleBoots, Perfectionist, dis, and Josef, who are either MIA or have left the forum, please drag them back here. I want them in.
Panda's intermittently back briefly but is probably available via AIM, LittleBoots is MIA and hasn't been on AIM MSN or CFC in a very long time, Perfectionist makes the odd WH post and has been around here a few times semirecently, and Dis and Josef are gone.

Uh, Arcadia is centered in America. :p

They could always have a socialist revolution, you know. :p Not much cause for separatism, though.

Thanks for the population matrix. Not sure how I'm doing economy yet, but that'll help deciding manpower for conscription at the least.

Almost everything you answered has been assembled on this page, though it's somewhat badly categorized. Just do a search to find anything specific.

You mean, Arbeiter revolution. ;)

In Arcadia? I mean, you're welcome to take our socialists and have them revolt in your country, we won't complain.
Assuming, of course, that they are your socialists...and not Maroni's.

I've already got plenty, thanks.

Expressing disappointment that Arcadia is the preferred timeline. No offense to das, but it's one of his more boring settings...

Basically, there's such a thing as TOO multipolar of a world...

I also think that Unlightenment is the best map/timeline: I modded it once with my friends as players (a strange yet enjoiable experience) and it was easy and interesting to mod.

Unenlightened reminds me too much of the NES2 V and NES2 VI settings.

No there isn't. :D Besides, NESers can raise sorry nations to great heights even in a disgusting bipolar world like the Unenlightenment, not that I prefer the thus reduced suspension of disbelief in such a setting...

I didn't want to read one TL and then have you go pick the other forcing me to read that. I have other things to do. I'll read the Arcadia TL now that you've settled on that one and see how much of an idiot I was.:(

There ain't no TLs exactly, mostly just a series of discussions. It was a Guess-the-PoD map, after all.

Yes there is. France, Arcadia, Portugal, Germany, Japan, and maybe more can be counted as major powers. This means you'll have a lot of trouble getting everyone to play in character, you'll stretch the good players over too many nations, wars will be confused, nothing one player does will be related to another, and so on...

The competition is fine, but the NES is going to be so unfocused that no one will care about what happens except in their immediate surroundings.

I think I disagree. Being the moderator of this experiment, I can say that the diplomatic dynamic of this is interesting and fresh.

Unenlightenment would be a gigantic Hispano-British brawl anyways...and that's fun, but I'd like to try something different. And I have the prerogative to put the good players where I see fit. :D And if players don't play in character, I'll kill them. I have a "zero tolerance" policy on player stupidity. Nations in democracies or parliamentary democracies can face legislative opposition or override.

For player benefit, I'll add a Diplomatic Standing section which incorporates the relative warmth or hostility of relations between nations at the outset of the NES. This will change as time goes on. For the sake of nostalgia I'll use an EU2-esque -200/+200 scale. For example, Arcadia's Diplomatic Standing would look something like: (France: -140, Australia: -70, HRE: +40...etc.)

Anglo-Spanish brawls don't usually happen. It is more usually the case that war happens between Britain and France, or France and Germany. I think the world of the Unenlightenment could be a nice change from that. The Arcadia timeline will see the usual France, British equivalent, and Germany dynamic, and that is boring.

BTW, sorry, I'm translating right now and stuck in Simple English. :p
