AOC and Republican misogynistic values

Oh okay... so even she didn't hear it said? I was wondering about that because I hadn't been able to find any such claim from her directly.

So on the one hand we have an article that contains an account of the exchange that happened that already diverges from AOC's in other respects, and contains the claim that an unnamed (as far as I can tell) reporter "overheard the heated exchange", and then goes on the make the claim that Yoho said the B-word, which presumably must be based on the testimony of this unnamed reporter, but even that isn't made clear. Literally no-one else in the universe claims to have heard the slur. The guy accused of saying it denies it.

So it's not even he said/she said, it's he said/she didn't say, but some anonymous person did say, perhaps.

And yet somehow not being 100% convinced it happened is "wilful denial to hold a narrative" and also... "mansplaining"?!

You are being so so dumb, when he said it didn't register he meant it did not register as a "thing"(she heard it but considered it beneath response automatically, she didn't even plan on talking about it until it went viral (via reporter) and Yoho went on the floor to give a lying apology) ffs your flag waving is just hysterical. Literally you are hysterically trying to defend this making the point of the entire thread. . .

Yes willful denial. Nails it exactly.

So in essence the Republican Party has been holding off cleaning its house for years?!

More like they realized that, at least for the time being, they can succeed in their goals while doubling down on the filth. And they choose a win now over doing the right thing, ever.

The Yoho incident also reminded me how toxic LinkedIn can be as someone posted a link to the story and the comments were bombarded with hate speech from old white dudes.
And since this episode I've seen many more threads in LinkedIn which consist of someone saying something positive about a person of color or a woman and it immediately descending into hate speech from old white dudes. It's disgusting and shocking that they're so entitled they think they can talk like that publicly in what should be a professional/career oriented platform but hey that's old white guys for you.

And dear god, if someone dares to post anything about AOC, it turns into a real trash heap of hate right quick.

Compare that to, say, the current Trump Administration Press Secretary.

LinkIn?!? Holy crap. That's hard to believe. Not doubting you, I totally believe you, but isn't that site supposed to be for finding jobs & posting your resume? Why in the world would anyone make political comments (one way or the other other) on that site?

I guess that's the explanation, but still, bizarre & disturbing.

Microsoft tried to make a "social network" out of it. Looks like it succeeded...

People can make posts and comment on other people's posts. It's turning into a slightly less vitriolic version of facebook. There's a ton of virtue signaling, posturing, bragging and hate speech and I've come closer and closer to deactivating it until the next time I'm job searching. I do like that through the posts I can pick up a lot of industry news but it's mostly garbage.

Oh, I get that they *can*, I'm just wondering why in the world someone *would*.

Allow me to introduce you to the reactionary white boomer

Allow me to introduce you to the reactionary white boomer
The reactionary white boomer who wants every future employer to know they are a reactionary white boomer?

People on linkedin are sort of stuffed up their own asses to begin with, so I wouldn't worry if you are a "boomer" boomer or not.

To be fair, I see plenty of young white dudes being just as ugly as well. And not even just Americans like you'd assume, some of the nastiest hatespeech I've seen was in response to someone saying something nice and uncontroversial about Jacinda Adern in kiwiland.

Spend less time reading stuff on LinkedIn.

If that is a poke directed at me, then... @hobbsyoyo has said before that he falls into the trap of reading too much stuff that is not good for his mental health. I am just reminding him of that.

That’s a helpful reminder, really. It’s necessary to practice self care. But the root of his anxiety is also a very real issue that isn’t going away on its own. In the end it’s necessary suffering to be aware of things.
