True, but distance doesn't matter in the 21st century. I can be in Tokyo in a day if I wanted.

Why can't they just be West Asians? West is better sounding anyway and there's fewer countries that encompass British "Asian" than normal "Asian."

I prefer the British grouping because when talking about "Asians" I immediately associate them with the geographical continent of Asia. If I want to get more specific I can use subregions or countries.

Because "West Asia" refers not to India, but what from a Continental perspective is referred to as the "Near East."

It would've been so much easier if Columbus could of called the Native something else so we could call people from India Indian.

But no one called it India at the time.
