Sometimes, I forget that people on this board appreciate the nerdy physics joke. Don't know why I feel like I'm hanging out out with the jocks.

We have jocks? Don't those itch?

After testicular surgery, jock straps are perhaps the most comfortable thing ever.

Oh? And what is it about jock straps that keep them from being as comfortable as testicular surgery?

Although from the Civ4 threads, still brilliant:

EDIT: Jarhead, I did find a crucial disk in my fridge once (not Civ tho). Immediately rushed back to the machine to check I hadn't tried to wedge a mini-pizza in the DVD drive...

And the link.

Oh yes, I remember that guy. He was seriously weird. About that subject, anyway.

He puts me to shame. I've been brought up with Iranian history (often being heavily biased in Iran's favor) spoon fed to be on a near constant basis since maybe age 4, and this guy comes up the best things.

Of course, supposing everything he says is true, he certainly knows a lot more about it than me. And that's even more pathetic. :(

I'm even a history minor. Christ.

Yeah? Well, he seemed kind of autistic to me (and they can know a very great deal about one narrow area). A one trick pony. But to be fair I didn't pay it an awful lot of attention. So I probably malign the guy. For which I'm sorry, whether I'm right or not.

That said, if he ever published a book about that Parthians and Sassanids, I would be incredibly eager to buy it.

Yes. I can see that. Me too, I suppose. But it is such a niche interest.

And the world is truly vast.

True, but let's put it this way: I don't have the time or patience to write such a book (it would literally take years of research and heavy duty digging for such a narrow topic) but reading it would nowhere near that much time. He's done the nasty, hard work for you. Supposing the book is of average length, it should take you no more than a month to finish it. And people read historical books all the time, so why not?

He's exclusively interested in their military tactics, absolutely nothing else.

Yes. Well, has he written a book? And if so. And you have some interest in the subject, then I can see how reading his book would be worthwhile.

The point you make about researching and books is a good one.

the problem with the Nazis was that they took a good idea, like the genetic supremacy of the Aryan race, and just took it a bit too far, e.g. by gassing the Jews.

Horrible misquote, [*], but I think it was too good to miss.

Scuse me, sir, but I disagree. And so I'd rather you provided some context for that, if you'd be so kind.
