Cain Suspends Campaign

Those are stupid reasons, and should work just as well without marriage. (Except fitting an image, but it's a stupid image, and doesn't fit nearly as well if everyone knows you're boning other people.)
You can call them stupid but that's why most people get married. Nobody gets married cause they're like "oh boy, monogamy!". :crazyeye:

Also, most people don't exactly want people to know they're boning other people. Regardless of your views a large percentage of married people have cheated & will continue to cheat all while enjoying the benefits of marriage (such as companionship, longer lifespan, etc.). Of course some cheat because they're unhappy & will eventually divorce but many want to have their cake & eat it to and they will and many either won't get caught or they will but will work it out & still be glad they got married. That path is not for me but it seems to work for some.

Sure was. I debated putting it as the thread title, but apparently made the wrong choice. I blame fatigue.

And here I thought I was being clever. :p

Great minds think alike I suppose.

I like how the Onion put it. "Presidential Candidate's extramarital affair ends campaign of candidate that didn't know China had Nuclear Bombs" I feel like that reflects pretty poorly on the base for the primaries.

Noooooo!!! Why do the most amusing candidates drop out?! First Bachmann petered out, then Cain dropped...

I think the most amusing part of this campaign is how hard Romney is working to get the nomination of the party that literally wants anybody but him. It's like a bad relationship where both parties don't realize how much they are hurting themselves. It's really twisted, when you think about it.

Man is programmed to have sex with many women. I'm sorry, but I don't think a few women should be able to ruin a guy's potential career (and I'd feel the same way if the reverse was true with a woman candidate). Sex should have nothing to do with being president. I felt the same way in the 90's with Monica Lewinsky. Bill Clinton has every right to put things into her mouth and other places, it doesn't make him a worse president.

Yay, more power to the crazies (by not splitting their vote)! Here's what I'm hoping for:

-radical right-winger wins nomination
-some third party becomes big enough to take 1-5% of the national vote
-lefties show no enthusiasm for Obama
-Obama squeaks by in Electoral College without winning >50% of the votes
-Obama(/Clinton) triangulation strategy seen for the idiocy that it is

I mean seriously, why is he a bad candidate because he likes women? People are a bunch of friggin' hypocrites. I like women, and most men like women. All of us have hit on women at least once in our lives. So why is Cain not allowed to hit on women or have sex with them?

It's B.S. that he was forced to drop out.

If he was terrible enough at affair-ing to have gotten caught, what does that say about his damage-control and secret-keeping abilities, both essential to any strong presidency?

I can only comment that any of those candidates you have there make Berlusconi seem like a great statesman...

I heard earlier that while Democrats tend to think Newt will be the main beneficiary of this, Republicans tend to think that Bachman will be. That'd be good for a laugh.

he kept the secret just fine, it was Monica who had loose lips.

Oh no, there aren't any other black Republicans running! How will we tell them we aren't racist?!

It's not so much that he likes women, it's that he molested them, lied or paid them to cover it up, and then failed to maintain any reasonable sort of damage control when the scandal broke.

Good. Cain is an entertainer, not a politician. He missed his calling in life as an Eddie Murphy-style comedian. I don't know which of the Republicans is more horrid this time around [Ron Paul excepted, but he will never be allowed in anyway]. However, none of them are Barack Obama so hopefully one of them will be able to get elected.

Here he is at his best - fast forward to 1:00 ;)

I haven't read anybody serious who thinks Bachmann will benefit. I think the votes will go to whoever the strongest "not-Mitt" guy is for that state. Nobody else has been able to gain any traction with that demo (and keep it), besides Newt. Cain is expected to endorce Newt this week.

It's kind of a shame Cain dropped out of the race. In all honesty, I thought he had a shot at the presidency. I would have voted for him. :)

Actually, a ton of people get married for that reason. They have found their "soulmate" or whatever you want to call it, and they commit.

Doing it for tax breaks is probably a reason pretty low on the totem pole... or, at least, it should be!
