Capto Iugulum: 1920 - 1939

ooc: Lets not let religious demographics get in the way of Libya's simplistic attempt to convert the Berber Catholics of Spanish North Africa to its own brand of Arab Islamism Luckymoose:p .

While your offer is greatly appreciated the government of Mayaland is able to report that another nation has already offered to fully fund the project. Thank you for your interest.

ooc: What about the Ibadi population? IRL the Ibadi (who are distinct from shia and sunni) make up the majority of the Omani population, and are dominant in certain parts of Libya, Algeria and the former Omani posessions in East Africa. Capto's history could have brought them to greater prominence, who knows :p

By that logic, OTL Lebanon should have been 100% Muslim in 1926, not 84% Christian.

ooc: Your assumptions are wrong, Mount Lebanon for almost the entirety of the period since the Islamic expansion was not actually controlled on the ground by Islamic state authorities due to its geographical peculiarities and the hostility of the inhabitants even if it was formally under their rule. Geography helped as such to preserve a Christian majority there.

A better example would be say Egypt or Syria, which were directly accessible to Muslim authorities and which before the Islamic conquest were almost totally Christian. Today the Christian population has been reduced to roughly 10% of the population of both countries respectively. The Maghreb is an even more stark example being totally Islamised, although that was a product of the Church's weakness in that region due to the continued presence of the donatist heresy.

Catholicity in North Africa also would have been boosted even more by the settlement of Spanish colonists in the territories.

OCC: I heard the comments but I was sort of waiting to see things play out a bit more. Things escalated really fast especially with the sudden German declaration of war.

Norman Statement on Burgundian Crises

We would just like to state we are pleased there was a peaceful solution to the belligerent nationalists that instituted a coup in Burgundy. Not only was no blood spilled but democracy was restored in Burgundy. The Norman government views this coup as a part of broader problem in the French region relating to extreme French nationalist elements. The terrorist attacks last year combined with the recent Burgundian coup which led to war (albeit brief) means all governments need to be more vigilant against such groups. We urge everyone in the region to continue intelligence sharing and work to stop these groups before they do any harm.

That being said we are concerned how quickly and without consultation the German government declared war. It created a complicated diplomatic situation between both our Burgundian and German allies. In this situation war may have been necessary to restore the rightful government of Burgundy but not all options were exhausted before hand. We hope that in the future there is better communication between all parties and Germany actively involves other French governments.

From: Florida

We cannot agree to peace until the Jacksonians agree to a fair and equitable distribution of the water rights of the Colorado, including at least 50% of the waters being granted to Floridian systems. We would also insist that any peace treaty allow for both nations to give the final word and receive the benefits of any hydroelectric installation constructed on the said river, once again, split evenly. Until the Jacksonians recognize both of these two demands, there cannot be peace until victory.

We have ROUTINELY offered this point, year in and year out. We are glad that Florida is willing to come to the peace table, and we will be willing to ensure that an equal solution is made that both parties are comfortable with. Peace should return to North America and Florida and Jacksonia should embrace once more as nations of peace.

If Aztlan would be so kind as to host a treaty conference between our nations, we can begin negotiations to end this war that has caused nothing but pain and suffering

As a sidenote, Portugal could be an incredibly interesting power, and it is in position as the dominant power of Iberia to unshackle itself from the Brazilian mandated naval restrictions

@Spryllino, it will be even more effective propoganda for the proles once the cesspool of Spain loses their albatross of an Empire :p

Also @Spryllino, make a social group for this treaty and invite EQ and I

OOC: A single treaty probably doesn't need a social group. :p

We applaud the efforts of Florida and Jacksonia to restore peace in North America. To peace, prosperity and diplomacy!

Haha, what? Portugal is not the dominate power in Iberia and is in no position to challenge Brazilian naval restriction (which, by the way, are backed by most of the Americas too).

We were not aware of the Puerto Rican war games. However, we would remind Hispaniola that Puerto Rico is your friend and ally, and through Brazil they are there to assist in the security of Hispaniola.

I've got to side with ChiefDesigner on Morocco. Despite centuries of Spanish rule (I believe the timeline I made put Spanish conquest in the 1760s), Islam is likely still well engrained in Morocco, probably still the majority religion at least. There are numerous examples throughout history of this sort of religious stubbornness, despite Paradox Interactive's perspective in their games.

Also: There's no reason for a treaty social group between two nations.

We lost sailors and a ship too, and once again, the Puerto Ricans fired first. We will await Puerto Rico's response to our proposal, since last we checked, they are not a part of your empire.

To: Jacksonia
From: Florida

Our proposal remains: 50% of the Colorado River water rights to each nation, both nations must give approval for construction of any dams along the river, and must receive 50% of the proceeds. A nonaggression pact will be implemented, and there can be no military (national or militia) forces positioned within three miles of the River.

We are very concerned with the second clause of your agreement with Denmark on the grounds that the Danes are known Russian sympathizers. Should Anglo-Russian relations ever sour, your ships may be used to support Russian tyranny or provide a source of intelligence for the Russian bloc. We urge you to reconsider this portion of the treaty.

Re: Catholics in North Africa

We have no such wishes, merely representation and freedom to the inhabitants of Morocco. The Koran teaches us to respect other people of the book, among whom are Catholics.
