Civ4 Beyond the Sword Patch v3.17 is out

I've noticed that I get a lot more requests to declare war and other interactions from the AI after patching to 3.17. Has anyone else noticed that or am I going gaga?? :)

I haven't really noticed that, but what I have noticed is that it is really hard to get Polytheism first by tricking the AI. Normally the AIs starting with mysticism mainly go for meditation because it needs less research, leaving a human player who does not have mysticism to tech mysticism whilst they are trying to reach meditation, then go straight for polytheism which they often neglect until they have failed to get bhuddism. This leaves you with a small chance of founding Hinduism despite not having mysticism in the first place.
However, now the AI seems more likely to tech to polytheism, especially Asoka, who has founded a religion three times in a row now, whilst normally I find it is Saladin who gets Hinduism.

BUG: the quests section of the log doesn't scroll anymore.

well, I think I first saw that behavior from the change from WL to BtS.

I've never played WL, but it seemed to happen to me all the time in BTS. It was a good strategy when it worked, basically stealing a religion because the AI was too dumb to deserve to found one. Mind you, if everybody did it then Bhuddism would be missed instead...

I've had warmpngering AI friends that went from friendly to cautious all because I was't stupid enough to get into a war with no dicisive outcome, or that I was bound to loose. I've also had both parties in a war ask me atack the other.
I wish they would chage it to only -1 relations...

I've had that as well, Russia and Germany went to war and they both asked for my help. What would they do if I said yes to both of them? :crazyeye:

Mansa Musa still loves to become a vassal even when he is a tech leader and controls half a continent...

So is it worth breaking mods to update to 3.17?

How do you install after downloading from here?

I guess, the other one won't ask after you agreed to come the other's assistance... At least I wouldn't... the AI wouldn't... or would it?!?

I've never been asked by a civ to declare war on another civ while I was at war with the first civ. That just wouldn't make sense.

I think he ment both during the same turn.

Which has happened to me.

Most funny? Shaka declaring war during the same turn he trades writing for mysticism, beggining and ending war during the same turn.

(I looked on at it as possible counter-counter-agents (from some group of dissidents) doing a technology breakthrough media release sting operation from within his own boarders. Which may have been a tad convoluted for 2500BC warriors scratching thier heads over why the river flooded 'seasonally')

I attempted to patch thorough the "Check for Updates" option. I strated at midnight and by it still said it was updating. Then, I checked at 10:35, and it still said it was updating. How long should it take? Am I doing something wrong?
I had the same problem. I'm not THAT patient, though, and I gave up after waiting about one hour.
I downloaded the .exe patch instead, and it was finished after 10 minutes. :)

Did you accept the first request? If not, I wonder if the second request would have been canceled by the game engine (i.e., not displayed at all) if you had accepted the first.

They can't have made the requests in the same turn, how would they do that? AI A makes its request during its turn, if he agrees to it, B won't make its request during its turn since he's at war with B by then. They didn't make them during his turn.

^^It can happen, since it is you that declares the war, and because of that the DoW have to come after the DoW requests ( in your turn ,while the AI requests are done in their turns ). When the 2nd civ requested it, technically you weren't in war with her.

I've noticed the same thing. In the game I'm in, Asoka, usually a peaceful player goes to war so much more frequently. Out of the 12 civilizations in the game all of them besides Carthage (my vassal) and I were at war with Mali. Also, Suliemen declared war on me, even though he didn't have anything against me. From the game I first played, the AI seems more willing to go to war, and has nio problem getting other civs to join.
