CiVUP - CiV Unofficial Patch

You seem to have gone from Civ V Unofficial Patch (Beta) (v 13) to build 18 :)

Are there any published changes of what has happened in those builds Thal, apart from...

Updated French and Simplified Chinese translations.

Updated French translations.

Thanks for your work.

I've only recently got myself civ5+g&k and I'm already following GEM's development with trepidation. imagine that :D

( well, civwillard 2.0 is also promising )

so are the civup versions beyond v13 beta intended for 1.0.1.674 or 1.0.1.705 or it doesn't matter which one you have?

keep up the great work :)

Hey all :)
I have one stupid question : I have an ongoing marathon game with CiVUP v13 on CiV G&K, can I upgrade to v15 (or anyway the latest version) without breaking this game ?
Thanks :)

i know that with VEM (and 99.9% sure with GEM) that you should not update mid-game as it will break your save.

however, I'm also curious, now that CIVUP is out of beta, if it would be OK to install mid-game?

G+K is great, but they didn't fix even half of the UI errors and additional awesome that comes with CIVUP...

Love the mod, but I can't be the only one who thinks that the Great General section on the menu bar is taking up way too much space. Would it be possible to have the words Great General replaced with the little swords icon and the other culture info (+ turn and next unlock) added back?

That's a good idea to replace the text with an icon. As an alternative, what if it just shows "General" or "Engineer"... dropping the Great part from the name? That would shorten it by half. :)
the other culture info (+ turn and next unlock) added back?
Could you explain this further? Also, what monitor resolution are you on?

Using just one word instead of an icon would make the interface a little less obtuse but still save space. I just meant fleshing out the culture aspect of the toolbar, it seems sparse compared to all the information you get for the other resources. Maybe have it show how much culture you're gaining each turn as well as the number of turns until your next unlock? I'm using 1280x800 for what its worth.

Also this might be the wrong thread, but doesn't Trade seem a little overpowered with all of the buffs you've given it in GEM? Have you considered moving embassies back to Writing or maybe roads back to the wheel if you think that writing is already too useful for the cost?

Keep in mind none of of the Vem yield or building changes are in Gem yet. I'm waiting for balance adjustments until the major parts of Vem are ported over to Gem. :)

Writing is one of the best techs in the ancient era with just libraries - it doesn't need anything else. The Wheel is more powerful with stables than roads since stables are a mainline production building in Vem. If we nerf trade I would move villages back to pottery, since I liked villages there in Vem. Another alternative is to move trade to the classical era and raise its cost... something I very strongly considered and experimented with in gem. That's a topic for the research thread, though.

After playing a handful of games with the latest GEM beta I've come to agree with you about Trade. Its pretty good with all of the buffs that you gave it, but writing and the wheel really are quite powerful as well so it seems relatively balanced.

However, I've recently stumbled across a couple of gamebreaking exploits. So far I've been able to resist, but if you sell a resource to another player and then allow a barbarian to pillage it you can repair the tile and resell the resources an unlimited number of times. Also, you can sell a bunch of stuff to another player, then declare war on them and get all of your stuff back and keep the gold as well.

okay, subscribed from Steam. All the files seem to be present in the MOD folder. I don't see any difference in the game when I start a new game. Is there a way to tell if the Mod is installed?

Okay, just realized that I have to click the little circle to the right to enable the MOD, which I did. Still no joy. Loaded a previously saved game and no joy.

Some of the DLC games say that they vitiate all other mods. But those mods are not enabled.

what i am doing wrong?

These "features" have existed in the base game since release and I suspect can't be fixed by a mod. Since declaring war has negative diplomatic consequences I'm not actually worried about that one, and barbs in the area keep your workers idle so it's not as horrible as it initially looks.

I assume that its not possible to fix the barbarian pillaging exploit, but I wonder if you could multiply the negative modifier you get for being a warmonger based on whether or not you're declaring it on people that you have large trade agreements with?

Fist, you can go through teh Common Check List to locate the problem.

Having said that, you shouldn't load a save game when you have changed mods, but start a new one. That might simply be the problem.

Other than that, GEM needs CivUP to be activated, but GEM isn't available yet. So you might have tried to start the Vanilla version of the mod with G&K. That might be the problem.

As for the "DLC games", what do you mean exactly with them? Did you try to play a scenario with the mod enabled? I'm not sure that works...

Great mod
I just have one issue I cant seem to help myself when that choose science button comes up and I click it opening the tech tree. I forget to right click it every time. Is there a way to switch that around? I looked through the code and I think I found it but decided against messing with it because of other dependencies. thank you
