Communism Is The Only Way Forward

Communists really shouldn't be in the business of defending the Soviet Union.

Crypto-reactionary. Prepare to be exterminated.

Capitalism only started every major war in the past 200 years.

Yeah, Hitler was attempting to take over Europe to spread his indoctrination of freer markets and deregulation.

You think his corporate buddies didn't love that?

You guys are all missing the point anyways. You can't assign death counts to an ideology. It's nonsensical.

This thread is getting remarkably stupid alarmingly fast. Mind sticking to the topic of, say, economic systems, and perhaps defending or refuting the failure of planned economies instead of juvenile who-started-what-war? I wouldn't stick the failure to just communist states, anyway (defined as a state with a single communist party) - India wasn't one, but it squandered under a planned economy until it switched over in the early 90s.

I'm sure they benefited from forced labor and government-mandated low prices on raw materials, but that's not really capitalist, is it?

Agreed.

Okay:
The USSR failed under a planned economy due to overspending on military.
India failed under a planned economy due to the immense poverty and 3rd world nation status of large parts of it.

Planned economies don't really work long term. They can work very well for rapid industrialization (ie: China who went from being an economic backwater to a major economic power in around 50/40 years.) but have a hard time sustaining it.

Capitalism has had its shot and failed. People say that the Soviet Union failed, but that's just a load of poppycock. The Soviet Union ended because they spent way too much money on the military, which was ultimately the American's fault.
Capitalism is cruel and unjust. People say that capitalism works because they are bourgeois Americans with health insurance. But in the real world, the world of starving millions, famine, drought, war and murder, people cannot live their lives like they ought to able to, with a home, a real job, a good wage and a place to live.
Capitalism cannot grant people these things, because it's all about making money, and you need money to make money. Thus the people in the poorest parts of the world with little or no infrastructure cannot get the help that they need from capitalism, and the scarcity of resources leads inevitably to war, as it has done for centuries.
People say that Communism had its chance and failed. This is not true.
It has only just begun!

Another dated communist troll? Come on man! We've already got one of those! I suggest you get yourself a new shtick man, or you'll very quickly fade into oblivion roundabout these parts.

Today, we see capitalism crumbling under the weight of the masses. The days of proletariat glory are returning, as the bourgeois classes lose power as their money is wasted away by their own mistakes; depression stands in their wake. The proletariat masses are but one step away from overthrowing their bourgeois overlords. The days of the peoples' exploitation are coming to an end.

Communism, in the real world, was the USSR and other like States. Couldn't care less what ivory tower egghead theories say it should be. The real world calls it what it is.
Why are Americans so convinced that anti-intellectualism is virtuous, rather than merely being tiresome?

Yeah, Hitler was attempting to take over Europe to spread his indoctrination of freer markets and deregulation.
Capitalism =/= Free market. Hence Fascism and Market Socialism.

Coincidentally capitalism is the only way to have good enough pay to afford the things you enjoy.
Demonstrate.

Basically, lets throw everything good sounding in a pot and hopefully it'll suck less than being ruled by the Dutch!

That wasn't really all that hard to achieve.

Refresh my memory about the first Liberal revolution in Europe. What was it called? Oh yeah, the English Civil War and the Protectorate. A perfect liberal state filled with such established liberal traditions as banning fun and persecuting Irish.

Wait, the freaking Protectorate was a Liberal Regime? What.

Eh, the North was breaking the Geneva Accords before the ink was even dry. Whether or not that was as a result of an ideology or more visceral things is quite another matter.

It wasn't, which is the point.
In many ways the ECW was a trial run for Liberalism. It gave us the Protectorate. Did the failure of Liberalism in the ECW invalidate the philosophy of Liberalism?
