You mean when police fire, it should be aimed ?... or the police should not shoot at all ?
There are cases where it is appropriate for police to use firearms if they have them. These should be where there is imminent threat of potentially fatal harm coming to themselves or someone around them. In these situations they should probably shoot to kill. If they are not in such a situation they should not discharge a firearm.

I am struggling to think of the logic where it would be good. Do the protestors not know they have guns? Are the protestors willing to use lethal force in the presence of armed police, but are going to be frightened enough by a police officer shooting into the air? I just do not get it.

India continues to have very interesting stats. Keep in mind, that because they have rolled out first doses after their initial Delta wave, their first shot is acting like a booster for a reasonable number of people

Edit: also, they're effectively boosting their Delta resistance, unlike the rest of us who would be boosting our resistance to the original strain

Shooting to kill with a pistol is not like in movies.
It is extremely difficult to shoot to kill succesfully with for example two shots in live situations.
Most (untrained on getting a hit) people who are hit by a single bullet will however stop what they were doing.

Standard instruction in NL is to shoot at the legs in critical imminent threat situations and shooting at the torso when no room left for anything else.

Consider: many people in violence situations are in a kind of adrenaline frenzie and just shaking them out can be enough to bring them back to their senses and avoid such aimed shots.

That's the interesting part of our discussion here:
try to define before we know what happened when and how you give a warning shot, or as aimed shot, or do only talking.
.... IN A DEVELOPED DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY, WITH A MATURE CONSTITUTION AND FULL WITH INSTITUTIONS AND LAWYERS FOR EVERYBODY.

We talk here not about the US where guns are everywhere.
We talk here not about all the news we see from all over the world in feeble democracies up to indeed police states.
