Population Whipping.

yeah, but it needs more than avaiable pop!
I built the wonder in 1220....

Other question: it seems to me quite impossible the 1st polish goal.... Have you some advice?
thx

Hi everybody...
I'm playing with Khmer civ, but I'm unable to complete the 1st goal:
I build the 4 Hindu and Buddhist monasteries, but I fail build the Wat Preah before 1200 AD.
I need too much time to discover Philosophy... I tried many times, set my cities in different places (but they are not so much, cause for the Jungle), or conquering cities in different time...
Did any of you win this goal??
I used a great engineer to build it.

Yes, I was talking about the monasteries, wonders are pretty much impossible to whip except by GE.

Could you perhaps town down Poland's color? Maybe to more of a lighter burgundy or a dark red? They seem really out of place in Europe, as if all the homosexuals migrated to east Europe.

About Khmer... i've finished the 1st goal, by using an engenier to build the wonder... the problem is hte culture.... it needs too much time to research drama and then build theatre.... any suggestion?? i've tried different research option (sailing-phil-aest-dram / s-a-p-d ....) but i notice that philo must be the 1st in order to bulti the wonder needed.... :-(

About Polish.... any suggestion to obtain the 2nd/3rd goals??? I've finished the 1st, but all europe is in war with me!!!

Well, I (half Polish, half German) like the colour, and I'm quite certainly not gay (or at least my GF tells me so :D ).

I have always linked Pink and Poland, I don't know why though. It isn't like the dutch and orange.

Pink is fine. I guess then we should change all the colors to shades of darker Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. yes?

Also, if you come this far west, no problems with pink, just rainbows from the rights activists.

I don't remember anyone complaining about the Polish colour in RFCE, and IIRC it's even pink-er than this one. Even this map shows Poland in pink, so I suppose it does come from somewhere...

Well, the national colours of Poland are white and a crimson/magenta-like red (quite similar to the red in the US-flag). It's not like e.g. the red of the French or German flag (which is really a bright, shiny one). It's actually very similar to the colour Leo used.

I think you can see the difference quite nicely between the Polish red and the German red.

Red and White of the flag blend into that pink.

@Leo: crash with Ethiopia, SVN version last update.
I had done the first 2 goals... :(:(:(
I link the file.

I wonder why pink is often associated with homosexual over there in the west... ;)
Pink is mainly associated with femininity, and I guess you can figure out the rest.

This, basically. If Poland wasn't a direct neighbour of Russia I would've used a darker red, but I guess more pinkish is better for contrast.

Pink actually has a much different connotation in the "West" now,
thanks to a number of miniature equines.

Leoreth, the link for Blue Marble for Dawn of Civilization appears to be broken.

I've a question and a suggestion;

the question is, how many time do you have to reload ethiopian scenario to satisfy the catholicism goal?!?! :):)
[I've restarted the game a lot of time (maybe 30...) but some civ discover theologhy very soon... Only 1 time a Great Proph allowed me to found
Cath, but then the game crashes, as linked above]

the suggestion is about resource: it's possible to add salt as water resource? (it could give a +1/+2 in health)....

Researching a part on my own and bulbing the rest immediately worked for me. There's a reason why I've added a priest slot to their UB ;)

And salt as a water resource? Isn't all water equally salty (barring freshwater lakes)?

not quite :)
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salinität

open ocean are pretty much the same but in smaller 'parts' like the Red Sea, Mediterranean etc. the salt content differs a bit
if anything like that.. a building would be more appropriate imo (requiring a harbor? that way it would only be built in cities next to saltwater)
Fitting german name would be a 'Saline'
in english 'saltern' / 'saltworks..'
