Yeah, a lot of things.

Again though, that's way too many cities in India; not really clean play too.
I would advise changing some tactics to compensate, because:
By holding onto that many cities in a civ's core, you not only decrease your own stability,
but you increase the chance of their respawn as well. Reducing the amount of cities you own in a core by 1 for a small civ (Egypt), and 2 or so for a big civ (India) will help.

EDIT: For instance, take a look at your India screenshot.
Madras, Bombay & Calcutta would have sufficed, but you kept a lot of useless cities that take away other cities' tiles.

Most of the England players here do not expand early.
Because every city past 10 increases your tech cost.
I would advise, settling some NA colonies and settling South Africa instead of gunning for Egypt (unless you think you have a good shot at Muslim wonders).
Stay that way until you hit Modern Era, then conquer the needed Indian cities and get Brazil + Australia.

Ignore Egypt. It's completely worthless for England in this game. Go for South Africa instead - many useful resources.

You settled 3 cities in the American flip zone. That will not end well. Instead you should settle Canada & the Caribbean (for Trading Company resources).

Your India looks OK. You should keep all 4 coastal cities in India since you get Trading Company in them. Problem is you took India too early - ideally you should tech to Military Tradition (for Occupation) before you invade India. That way you can keep 2 additional cities (Delhi and Pataliputra) for the Wonders in them.

The most important thing to remember is that England's Stability comes from Resettlement.

Playing as Greece, I built Corinth on the marble, and way later, that city flipped Egyptian Xou, 4 tiles south, 1 south of the dye, even though that was across an ocean - I didn't know that was possible, has something changed with regards to that? They were my vassals at that time, if that should make any difference.

Nothing has changed for city flipping. I wish I knew where I could do that.

interesting postscript, btw, following a bloody civil war; King Alfred IV was able to reassert control over North America, parts of India, and the British isles. Since then, his heirs have expanded British military might into Australia and parts of South America; concluding with a global war between Russian allies and the Ottoman parnter nations. :-)

Oh I"m riding the hell out of Resettlement now, since the 17th century approaching the 18th, life is good for England. Egypt was a bad move, I know. I got caught up "Crusading" fever. ;-)

My computer says I haven't played Civ IV since March 5th. Considering I got all three Mass Effect games the next day, I guess it makes sense. Well, time to check out what's changed.

You can't rush from the corner/amphibiously to kill a newborn baby civ anymore.
They have a 10 turn protection where you can't declare war, unless they DOW you.

Non state-religion imposes a -1 Happiness. This includes having religion in your city when you're running Pantheon.

Civs are increasingly building horrible cities and making all of their cities 2 tiles away from one another despite usually abundant space.

That's the current state of the union.

Has anyone got the Ethiopian 1st UHV? I just tried about 4 different new starts and it's impossible! On 2 of them someone got Catholicism in my 2nd or 3rd turn; on the other 2 starts they got it around 15 turns later or so...

And in any case, shouldn't the UHV be to found Orthodoxy? That's Ethiopia's most important religion =).

There goes my spawn-rush strategy of stopping the Turks... As for everything else, seems to be the usual. It's good to be back.

Use a Great Prophet bulb it. Building a Stele first and then a library would work.

It makes sense, but currently Orthodoxy's Holy City spawn is randomised.

I think it's your capital? Playing as China I'm forced to convert to Orthodoxy when AP is completed (Hagia Sophia is built in my capital Luoyang automatically). And Protestantism has no holy city even if I choose to embrace the reformation.

Have you updated to the latest commit? The orthodox thing should have been fixed, according to the notes.

I updated just a few days ago, after the introduction of persecution. In the previous version building the Apostolic Palace as China results in Orthodoxy being founded in Constantinople instead of my own capital.

I just ran a test myself also, seems you're right. Sorry Leoreth but your fix for the orthodox event didn't help, choosing "no" still results in converting and getting the holy city.

Okay. And building the Apostolic Palace doesn't make you the founder of Orthodoxy.

Orthodoxy? Did I miss something here? I didn't know we had the Eastern Rite in DoC yet?
