It's randomized around certain dates. And you're right, vassals should not get them.

Edit: done.

Help, I'm having a problem trying to download this on a new Windows 8 Vaio Sony Laptop (I had just been in the shops to get a high performance computer just so I could run this mod and maybe a few other games) but whenever I use Winrar to unpack the files and put them in the mods folder, I get all of these errors that just say it could not locate said file and that the path could not be specified (a.k.a. doesn't tell me ANYTHING) so can someone help me out here?

The downloaded folder needs to be renamed RFC Dawn of Civilization.

Also, unrelated but, gaming laptops aren't that great, especially pre-built ones.
Spending a bit of time learning how to get your own rig built from the ground up is cheaper and better-performing in the long run.

For medieval civilizations with population goals (Poland and Khmer immediately come to mind, there might be others as well), does one simply have to hope that the plague doesn't arrive, and reload if it does?

I don't know about Khmer and Poland (or Aztec, Moor or Indonesia for that matter), but as Thai it was just about impossible to get enough health to offset the plague effect. If a plague hits Ayutthaya a couple of turns before the UHV checks, you basically lose, and have to reload. And a plague hitting London can win it.

I'll put bounds on the randomization of the plague events to make sure that these cases don't happen anymore.

Thanks for a wonderful modmod, Leoreth. I have spent countless hours playing DoC, and I expect many more to come. The progress made recently with post-colonial America has been really amazing to see.
Keep up the good work :goodjob:

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the praise! It's always nice to hear that.

I loved the Brazilian civ, mainly because I live here

Ps:I can put a Brazilian spawn in 1500

@Leoreth Guy

Was it intended that Barb Hittite chariots could spawn within culture borders? Or is it unintended?
Personally, I think this should be rectified.
I don't recall Sumerian Vultures doing so...
Early in the game, there is no way to protect a city against a stack of 3 super chariots in a easy manner.

And the 2 free wins with barbs are not necessarily spared by the time they spawn.

Another Question: Can an independant nation build wonders? I see in the XML they can't build explicitly the Great Wall, but is it the only building blocked.
Do they research in the same manner as barbs...by trickle down research from civilizations.

Certain barbarians can spawn inside cultural borders. This is so that you cannot prevent historical invasions by covering their spawn region with your culture.

To be fair, imagine the disgust a player of regular Civ can feel when he sees that!

In fact, playing Babylon other then UHV or OCC would bring even the most accepting roleplayer to tears.

I still sees Assyrian Vulture roaming in southern Arabian desert.. perhaps could there be specific area where the Barbarian can go to?

That's more a consequence of the numbers involved I'd say.

^ Yeah. Barbs are a bit over the top in terms of their numbers. You'd always seen the entire Arab peninsula and western Siberia covered with Vultures (and later, Horse Archers). It can certainly using some toning down. A lot of it.

I also don't see why "Parthian" barbs spawn while Persia is still alive. You don't have "Han" or "Tang" barbs spawn while China is still alive as the Qin Empire.

I'll take a look at it. If you have other barb spawns that seem excessive, please report them here too.

Re Parthians: as far as I'm aware, the Parthians were a distinct Persianate people that happened to conquer Persia, giving rise to the Parthian dynasty. So they're more alike to the Kushite dynasty of Egypt or the Machu dynasty of China (as opposed to the Qing term).

@Leoreth

I understand your point of view, but in the early game, couldn't those barbs spawning inside borders just be automatically bumped outside. They can reenter once the barb invasions start (that is per definition enough cities per player), but sometimes, that is annoying to reload because they had to spawn next to my city.

The barbarian invasions start when the units begin to appear. Spawning directly adjacent to a city is a bit unfair though, I thought I had already ruled this out.
