DocT5- The RaR Deity Trial

I wouldn't mind trying Modern warfare. Why don't we wait until we are into the modern age and then declare war on China (no alliance). It would give us somethingt to do while we wait for space.

Or if anyone declares we go after them until we get WW or they are dead.

Or if someone just feels like having a war filled turn they can declare on turn 1 to 3. That way if the next player wants to makes peace, the probably can.

I don't think we should. Just use the 8 turns to prepare a good invasion. :)

I was going to take quick turns and prepare us into war as I'm leaving on holiday very early next morning.

However - Things did not go as planned. After 4 turns China first signs a MPP with Spain. War will begin next turn so I'm giving this over to next player as I don't have time to play war-filled turns right now. Would have had that yesterday :(

The turnlog:

Pre-Turn:

Nothing much to do. Will prepare an invasion for the next player.

1560AD:
Bison River completes National monument, start Wall street.
IBT: Aviation -> Total war.
1565AD:
Trade Total war+WM+802gp from chinese to Flight. Could have taken 2 lux also, but possible war ahead, no thanks.
1570AD:
Nada
IBT:
Spain and China sign MPP.
China lands troops on our soil!!
India completes Wonderland.

Good luck and apologies not finishing my turns. I will be back Jan 15th.

NP, enjoy your holiday. I prefer a half-finished turnset by far to a rushed one.
Got it.

Edit:
grs - there is one stupid problem: If China manages to capture a city (I'm not afraid of any landed troops, but a amphibiuos naval attack could succeed), and we have any troops next to a city that was legally ours at end of turn, this will trigger the MPP with Spain.
Of course, this won't matter at all - Spain? Who is Spain? I can't even recall where they are, or if they already entered the IA.

Sioux, 1575AD

Played to 1650AD, mostly long-term worker and wonder projects. And a phoney war.

Ouch, manage to catch our probably only chance to loose this – we did not build the League of Nations, but are about to learn Totalitarism (in C3C, obsolete wonders may not be started). Switch Sarkee to it (due in 2).

Spain is not an OCC; in fact, Isabella has 8 cities, and I’d call her the #4 in power (of course, ridiculously behind the top 3 ;) ).

Any city with a Park and Factory should also get a Coal Plant; no further pollution.
Why do we have an Artist Guild in Ur? Do we care for culture?
Why are we building an Aquaduct in a coastal city (Frankfurt)?
We need to focus our cities more. The coastal ones need to focus on research and ComDocks, the inland ones on units.
Will research three optional techs first, useful Small Wonders (Marxism/Museum, Communism/Steel Foundry)

Inherited:
Build some Airfields. Upgrade all of our Cannons.
I am not really interested in a war against China, but even more I’m not interested in loosing our best trading partners Russia and India.
So, I sell China ToR for everything they have; demand them to leave – DoW, of course. Since I had ship enough units to our island, I clear out the 2 Cavs easily.
A MA with India is impossible. Sell them ToR nevertheless. Gift Russia to Tech parity; get MA against China.
Fail to plant a Spy in China.
Burn cash for CommDocks.

IBT:
China lands a couple more Cavs on the island.
Totalitarism->Marxism
Lots of WltKDs.
Bison River Brokerage Firm-> Spirit of St. Louis, Dakote University-> National Library(will use the leader to rush it)

Turn 1: 1580AD
Clear out the China stack. Rush the National Library before, but no Leader.
IBT:
We complete the LoN, but hold no elections.

Turn 2: 1585AD
Sell Totalitarism to Russia and India.
IBT:
Spain declares war on us. Who cares?
4 more Chinese Cavs land, allowing us to fish for leaders 4 more times.
Marxism->Unionization
India start Empire State Building.

Turn 3: 1590AD
No luck with leaders (but at least a Slave).
I think we’re growing the wrong cites; none of the high commerce or FP cities has a Sewer System yet. Fiddle with better tile arrangements. Dakota e.g has spcialists and oodles of SCI/COM improvements. Little Bighorn needs to shrink in favour of Dakota and the capital.
Clear lots of Jungles and Marshes. Nadessioux for example drowns in Food, better replace the Jungles with Forrests (give more shields when mined).

Note our best research cities are BR - Dakota - Persepolis - Babylon – Ashur - Niniveh; Persepolis doesn’t even have a University, but lots of Tourism to Stonehenge. Same applies to Ninive.

We can build Police Stations now, and we should do that – Echelon Wonder!

Turn 4: 1595AD
I simply don’t want a war with India. Since we cannot get a MA by any means, and China will move 2 Cavs into our territory IBT, I sign a MPP with Ghandi, for almost nothing.
IBT:
Unionization-> Guerilla Warfare (Communism can wait until we get another MGL).
India is now at war with Spain and China.
Minks completes the Statue of Liberty.

Turn 5: 1600AD
Lots of Worker action and MM. Do not attack Xinjian, I want to keep leaderfishing there.

Turn 5: 1605AD
Zzz…
IBT:
China wants to talk, no.
Autogenerated Army, Pentagon notification.

Turn 6: 1610AD
Zzz..
IBT:
America wishes to die, and signs a MA with Japan against China.
We learn Guerilla Warfare, and enter Modern Ages. Start on Radar, though this will obsolete the Arc. But we want Electronics and Space Flight.
Bison River completes Spirit of St.Louis (Colossus effect). Set on prebuild for National Museum.

Turn 8: 1620AD
IBT: 3rd Museum and 3rd Police Station done.

Turn 9: 1625AD
Sell Guerilla to Russia; they get Fission…Carefully steal that.
IBT:
Radar->Electronics
China completes Einstein’s. Russia starts UN.

Turn 11: 1635AD
IBT:
Bison River National History Museum->UN, Ashur Park-> Hoover (prebuild)

Turn 12: 1640AD
Capture the Chinese city near us. Btw, this is the only city at all captured during this World War so far.
Russia knows Communism.
IBT:
Electronics->Miniaturisation

Resume:
Focused on improving our research capacity, and our most important cities.
Mostly ignored the war, we’re only receiving war happiness from it.

We have 10 cities making more than 100 beakers at 80% Science. We’re down to 3 turns/tech, should be able to get that to 2/tech soon.

The Save

Who's up?
Technically, mad-bax; one of those skipped back?

Not sure if anyone is interested, but in the RaR game CZ4, we are down to 3 players, myself, LKendter, and Macdandee.

We could really use another player if anyone is interested. Its essentially a NOW (non-oscillating war) game so a good bit of fighting.

I can take the game tomorrow, but it will take two evening for me to play.

I would like to play the CZ4 game, but my eyes are too big for my belly and I know I would not be able to play my turns in time. Things are changing however. Slowly I am beginning to get more Civ playing time. :) <touch wood>

I need a good slap

I downloaded the wrong save and don't have internet access from the hotel. This evening I travel to France. I will attempt to play some turns tonight from the correct save unless anyone else wants to take it.

I will check this thread in about 6 hours time. If no-one has taken the game then I will play as far as I can tonight (9 - midnight).

>>THE SAVE<<

Since I didn't have much time my turnlog is a little sparse I'm afraid. In summary, I built a lot of labs and unis.

Here is the turnlog FWIW anyway.

1650AD: Pre-turn
OK - I'll pretty much much ignore the Chinese war and concentrate on science improvements.

1660AD:
Spent some gold short rushing. Will try to get some labs together for cure for cancer.

Learn Miniaturaisation and research computersFor several turns just built science. A few pathetic Chinese incursions but nothing to speak of.

got a scientific leader when I researched computers.
Swapped bison river to Hoover and The city building hoover to UN and rushed UN. I know I could have used him more efficiently, but it was a concious decision. We got hoovers 7 turns early thats all.

I have about 20 labs and still can't build Cure for cancer, then realise that research labs are not the same thing. :p sorry - we wanted labs anyway.

In 1695 we lose our supply of silks and cannot renew - they were traded elsewhere I assume. I keep the slider where it is as the loss of WLTKD does not cost as much as raising the slider.

I decided to send a few units to Spain in the end. Just as a diversion from building for so many turns. The next player can capture the other two towns and then spend a few turns hunting for a settler on a boat. I saw a carasel disappear into the fog and I assume it had a settler type unit on it. Unfortunately I couldn't kill it and I needed the transport that saw it, so I couldn't follow it. Last seen headed north past the Japanese City of Bescanson (Last turn).

We got a tile of pollution next to Little Big Horn last turn. I haven't cleared it yet - but it needs doing.

Rocketry next turn, and we should think about a pre-build for cure for cancer. It is why I haven't built any sewer systems. There are enough Research Labs being built. I would consider short rushing them in about 5 turns time. No point doing it until you can get all 10 though IMO

There is one city (Dakota) building an offshore platform. I put a Labour Union in its queue just so the next player didn't forget to cancel the pollution effect.

Have fun. There is so much to build it makes your head spin a bit. I have only built science. We are currently at 5500 beakers per turn at 100%, up from 4030 at 1600AD. If we can get another lux (Silk) from somewhere then 2 turn research is possible. 1 turn is probably another 15 turns on if we keep building science.

I played to 1700AD - I think that that was 15 turns, but since there was no fighting until the last turn - and even then only a couple of Spanish cities it didn't take long to play.

Good luck Greebley - Perhaps you may get to build some units.

Ok, I got it.

I don't understand the food cycle comment. Are we talking about a wonder that allows our city to go above size 15 or a wonder that allows towns to grow to 2 instead of 1.

If the former, then I think it very useful.

If the latter, then one can simply stabalize populations. If we go over by one then build a worker and add it to another town. Starvation cycles are very avoidable.

Preturn: Things look in order. Russia has 2 techs I would like to get, but they are too expensive at the moment (one gives us mass transit and the other gives us +100 shields small wonder.

Early: Learn Rocketry and start Mechanized Warfare (Leads to space flight)
Looks like Russia is going to attack so I trade Miniturization and 1470 gpt for her two techs and ask her to leave. She declares.
Switch Sarcee to the steel foundry (100% shields).

France declares war on us too.

I make peace with China and ally them against the French and Russian.

Very interesting. Russia has 3 filled armies. Does this mean that the RaR team figured out how to fix armies? Could regular C3C have fixed armies with a small change?

Mid: Capture Lyons.
Capture Paris.
America allies with Russia vs China (i.e commits suicide).

End:
Russian Army kills our army
Raze Tours.

Notes: The Jeep army is for Pillaging Russia - I wanted to see if we can pillage 15 squares per turn - rather than any real need for the pillaging.
We have Alliances vs France and Russia with China.
I razed Tours to give us some slave to get border expansions in French territory. Go ahead and sacrifice for 20 culture.

I made a small mistake and our Lux deal with China is dependent on our Alliance. If you destroy France, you will want to trade for China's Lux again so you don't get revolts.

24 more techs to go. We are currently researching techs in 2 turns.

Doc, what does genetic engineering do? It is a top tech, but has no encyc entry.

Does this mean that the RaR team figured out how to fix armies?
Looks like :).
The main reason is the units selection. In RaR, they can load an Attacker first, and always find a unit with one movement more to fill the Army (often Marine+Horse, or Tank+Armor, or Armor+Heli). And the AI still knows how to use filled Armies (they even pillage like mad with those).
GenEng is an empty tech. We're working on finding a use for it...
Oh, and the Jeep Army can pillage 10 times (since roads give only 2 move, 5xATAR is 10, not 15).
