DocT5- The RaR Deity Trial

Given we managed to catch up in techs, and the other continents are not that ahead of ours as I feared, I prefer Smith's way over The Encyclopedia.

Something else: I would not build the FP right now. Better build the Summer Palace directly (Ashur); this will be enough for the OCN. And the FP is much cheaper, thus it can be built easily in a half-corrupt city with high potential later.

If it is more important let's switch. I am not that firm in RaR to allow myself to judge this. The time of war came in handy for me :)

EDIT: only advice I can give...while building wonders and the Sumer Palace, do not forget to get more of those Cuirassers. We want to use the momentum to get as much of Babylon as possible before others do. We have the cance to get 2/3 of our continent with only Persia keeping the rest for now. And please continue starving taken cities.

Played about half of my turns and will finish them today. As discussed, I traded as Tinkez has suggested and tried immediately to go for Smiths, but I was beaten in the IBT before my second turn by India

However, we will get the Enceclopedie now almost sure and war against Babylon progresses as planned.

Completed my turns, here is the log:

- Trade with India: got Economics for Sugar, 1552 Gold
- Bison River: switched to Smiths (6 turns)

- NOTE: Thought about trading Humanism to China and India (since Persia has it anyway and we focus mainly on Smiths), but decided against to have perhaps the chance to get the Enceclopedie after Smiths...

MR:
- conquered Nürnberg after killing 2 Pikemen inside with our army (2:0), captured 48 Gold and a catapult; city has 3 resistors, rest to engineers, new project: monument (20t)

MR:
- killed one Babylonian Pikeman outside Leipzig and 2 more inside (11:1), conquered Leipzig and captured 44 Gold and a trebuchet.Since it is a big city with no wonders (and suboptimal placed, too IMO), I decide to burn it to avoid culture flipping.Razing gives us 6 Babylonian workers.

IBT:
- ROP and MA against Babylon with Persia expire. Not prolonged.

- Nineveh: Forge --> Pikeman (9t)
- Hunkpapa: Pikeman --> Pikeman (9t)

- Bison River: finishes the ENCECLOPEDIE ---> Guild Hall (3t)

- killed 3 Pikemen and 1 Man-at-Arms (17:2) inside Königsberg and conquered city;captured the Pyramids, 53 Gold, 3 workers, 3 res. pop, new project: Courthouse (60t)
- killed Horse Archer outside Nürnberg (18.2)

- our supply with gold, wine and spices ends

ENDNOTE: The two armies outside Berlin, some units in the fortress near Frankfurt and some in the mountains between Nürnberg und München have partial movement left.I did not use it up for tactical reasons and fortified them instead; to leave the final decision to the next player and save the fortify bonus if they aren't moved any more.

Doc Tsiolkovski said:
Tata :D there is no upper limit in c3c any more; 100 Luxes = 100 Happy Faces.

Got it; will comment later.

 Never heard of this change...and of course the Civilopedia has fooled me on this subject too by saying the limit is 8 :D

Good turns Pfeffersack :goodjob:

I haven't also seen an official report of the max lux change, but I've noticed it making difference in RaR. So therefore it's better to have as many luxes as possible.

Sioux, 950AD

Now that looks a lot better :)

Researching Social Contract…interesting choice; let’s see if that pays out.
Sell Perspective to Russia for 2 Luxes and small change.
Start selling our WM; get WM + another Lux and WM from India, one more from Lincoln, one more from China, Gold from Xerxes (throw in Incense); Spain, Japan and France don’t have to offer anything.
Research to max (5 turns), we have no need for cash anyway.
Switch many builds towards economy.

IBT:
Babs send an Elephant.
Couple of WltKs.
We’re the happiest nation on Earth.

Turn 1: 960AD
Capture Berlin (Great Wall, 4 Slave, only one single resistor), no losses.
Capture Munich, loose Cuir.
IBT:
Couple of Civs start Wonders we don’t need.

Turn 2: 970AD
Capture Samarra, no losses.
Found a city in the middle of the former German core.
IBT:
Nothing (our Bank in Bison River completes)

Turn 3: 980AD
Capture Frankfurt, no losses.

Turn 4: 990AD
Zzz…
IBT:
Social Contract->Medicine
We learn Federalism from the Encyclopede (No, we’re happy with Republic for now).

Turn 5: 1000AD
Sell Social Contract to China for Silver and a nice chunk of gold. To Persia for Olive Oil and another 1083gp. Gift Russia into the IA, they get Naval Tactics. Get it for Federalism. Sell NT around for about 2500gp.
Capture Akkad.

Turn 6: 1010AD
Zzz…

Turn 7: 1020AD
Zzzz…
IBT:
Bison River University->District Courthouse
China gets Medicine – that’s not good, they’re running away.

Turn 8: 1030AD
Approaching…

Turn 9: 1040AD
Capture Hannover from Babylon. Since we’re ahead of Babylon in culture now (!), I decide to make peace. (Oddly enough, Babylon is still score leader – and France culture king  ).
Get 3 cities and 353 gold from Hammu. Gift him in the IA, and he gets Medicine. Get that for Federalism. Research to ToE.
Gift the pathetic Germans into the IA, but they get Naval Tactics.
Declare war on Germany, I want my own Gold, and Teton steals a FP tile from Ashur.
Capture Teton.
IBT:
We learn Constitutionalism.
And the Summer Palace finishes!

Turn 10: 1050AD
Need to heal before attacking Köln; approach only with the Army.

NOTES:
*We need 5 District Courthouses, any city that can build this should do so.
*Dakota may try to grab the East India Company.
*Make peace with Germany ASAP, and then revolt to Constitutional Monarchy.
*We’re far ahead in land and population.

Power.jpg

*Everyone except for China, India and Persia is pathetic.
*Protect our Elite ship, we may want to build the Naval Academy.
*We control the entire Northern half of our landmass, and some island cities in the S. The Settler is on goto where he should found.

...and the save.

Over to mad-bax

We have gathered impressive in strength in this game...no wonder, we have took out the biggest AI civ.We have a lot of troops around...we surely could conquer Persia, too(after moving our troops in position and making sure everything conquered from babylon is defended well). They will not have enough cities to keep up in terms of industry and the front we have to defend against their first wave of attackers would be rather small. However, I remember it was said, we don't want Persias land...is it because of the Corruption or is there any other reason which stands against an attack?

I see no problems with fighting and conquering Persia. They are not exactly weak, and since they're fighting Babylon and Germany, they have quite some units running around. But another reason to take those two German cities is of course the short border; we may think about going against Persia once our deals expire.

We do better by taking Russia's money. We can use the cash to buy techs we don't have.

Otherwise, they will spend the money buying a tech we could sell them from another civ or they will research techs we already have at least 1/2 the time if not more. Hoping they will research something useful seems very inefficient to me.

I tend to agree that we would do better to get as much money out of the AI as possible. Cash rushing, and buying techs will be important for a while yet. In fact we may never be able to stretch into a significant tech lead.
