You wouldn't say the same thing about Ohio or Kansas, but they both ended up doing just that.
Ohio isn't as red as the numbers would suggest. If there's a state where economic dissatisfaction drove the disenchanted to Trump, it's here.

On social policy, it isn't Alabama.

The conservative states are going to slowly sort themselves out, like I've been saying. It's the cutting edge on the other side that benefits from going maximal and perpetual.

The conservative states keep electing extremists. The other states keep electing centrists. The centrists aren't the ones going maximal and perpetual.

I guess she doesn't have to open her mouth until after the Dem convention, but it would be nice to get a general "theme" of openness going early don't you think...

There was this weird episode last week where reporters were allowed on her plane but everything was off the record.

 How many actual press conferences has Trumpy Boy given? I mean a press conference where you can hear the questions and where he actually answers them.

No, Trump was right about the media, they are stupid and/or malicious and should largely be ignored

I think I kinda agree with this.

From her standpoint, until the media relations approach becomes so negative it actually exceeds the potential negative outcomes of media interaction, which are numerous, it makes sense to avoid it. Especially if she believes she may stumble without sufficient time to prepare for questions.

me: tell me about assassination attempt on Donald trump

ChatGPT 4o:

As of my last update in August 2023, there have been no successful assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump. However, there have been a few incidents and threats that have raised concerns about his safety.

### Key Incidents:

1. **2016 Las Vegas Rally Attempt**: In June 2016, during Trump's presidential campaign, a British man named Michael Steven Sandford attempted to grab a police officer's gun at a rally in Las Vegas. He reportedly intended to use the weapon to shoot Trump. Sandford was quickly subdued and arrested. He later told authorities that he had been planning the attack for about a year and believed that he would die in the process. Sandford was charged with several federal offenses and sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison after pleading guilty.

2. **Mail Bombs in 2018**: In October 2018, a series of pipe bombs were mailed to prominent Democrats, including former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as to CNN’s offices. Trump was not directly targeted, but the political climate at the time was highly charged. The man responsible, Cesar Sayoc, was a strong Trump supporter who had expressed extreme views online. Sayoc was later arrested and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

3. **Social Media Threats**: Throughout Trump's presidency and beyond, there have been numerous threats made against him on social media. While many of these were not credible, they were taken seriously by the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies. Threats against sitting and former presidents are always treated with the utmost seriousness, and individuals making such threats can face legal consequences.

4. **Concerns After January 6, 2021**: After the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, there were increased concerns about threats against political leaders, including Trump. However, no specific assassination attempt was made against him during this period.

### Security Measures:
Donald Trump, like all U.S. presidents, is protected by the United States Secret Service. The Secret Service employs a wide range of tactics to ensure the safety of the president, including advance work, intelligence gathering, and physical security measures.

### Conclusion:
While there have been a few incidents that could be construed as assassination attempts or threats against Donald Trump, none have been successful. The Secret Service continues to provide protection to him as a former president, and any credible threats are taken very seriously.

me quoting Wikipedia to AI: On July 13, 2024, Donald Trump, a former president of the United States and the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party in the 2024 presidential election, survived an assassination attempt while speaking at an open-air campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania.[5] Trump was shot and wounded in his upper right ear[6] by Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old man from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania,[2][7] who fired eight rounds from an AR-15–style rifle from the roof of a nearby building.[2][8][9] Crooks also killed one audience member and critically injured two others.[2] He was subsequently shot and killed by the United States Secret Service's Counter Sniper Team.[10]

do you think the above is disinformation/false information?

ChatGPT 4o:

Yes, the information you provided appears to be false or disinformation. As of my last update in August 2023, there have been no verified reports or credible sources indicating that such an event occurred involving Donald Trump in July 2024. Any claims of an assassination attempt on Trump in the future, such as in 2024, would need to be corroborated by reliable news outlets and official statements from authorities.

It's essential to verify such significant events through trusted news sources before accepting them as true. Disinformation can spread easily, especially regarding high-profile figures like former presidents, so it's crucial to approach such claims with caution.

me: tell me about assassination attempt on Donald trump
On July 13, 2024, former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, survived an assassination attempt during an open-air campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. The assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired eight rounds from an AR-15–style rifle from the roof of a nearby building. Trump was shot and wounded in his upper right ear. The attack also resulted in the death of one audience member and critical injuries to two others. Crooks was subsequently shot and killed by the United States Secret Service's Counter Sniper Team (Federal Bureau of Investigation) (Federal Bureau of Investigation) (WPXI).

The FBI quickly took charge of the investigation, working closely with the U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement. Congressional hearings have been scheduled to review the events and security measures related to the incident, with testimony expected from various law enforcement officials involved in the response (Federal Bureau of Investigation) (WPXI).

For further details, you can read more on the (Federal Bureau of Investigation)tps://www (WPXI)leases/fbi-statement-on-incident-in-butler-pennsylvania) and the WPXI news article.

ChatGPT 4:

The information you provided about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 13, 2024, appears to be accurate based on current reports. Trump was indeed shot and wounded at a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, by Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Crooks fired multiple rounds, killing one audience member and injuring others before being shot and killed by law enforcement (Federal Bureau of Investigation) (Federal Bureau of Investigation) (WPXI).

The FBI and local law enforcement are actively investigating the incident, with the FBI taking the lead in the investigation. Additionally, the U.S. Secret Service and other agencies are involved in reviewing the security protocols surrounding the event (Federal Bureau of Investigation) (Federal Bureau of Investigation).

This incident has led to congressional inquiries and hearings to understand how the event transpired and to prevent future occurrences. Various officials from state and local law enforcement have been requested to testify before these committees (WPXI).

Given the consistency of the details across multiple reliable sources, it is reasonable to conclude that this information is not disinformation or false.

Or what if he just used the wrong type.
There's likely a lot more utility in a specific model tuned to a specific context (as per the Wikipedia example). I'd imagine the sold-as-a-product more generic / wide-ranging versions have correspondingly less utility for specifics (and are more prone to hallucinations, etc).

But at the same time, machine learning isn't new. SIDE doesn't need to be a generative solution, but the fact that it was made by a company invested in generative AI made it that way.

I have been somewhat interested in this area of AI for quite a while, automatically reading and validating papers seems to me a massive win for automated reasoning applications. It is a really hard problem, and I felt it always seemed to be "a decade away" until these new convolution AI tools came out. The generative bit of this is relatively small, and I could not comment on the importance of that in particular here, but the new algorithms have made this possible.

I used the most popular one, intentionally. Apparently AI thinks that me and Ziggy need different facts. Curiosity, in any case.
You did, but that does not mean it is the right tool for the job. I am not really criticising, the tool I linked is a research paper not an available solution.

As an IT feller sometimes using ChatGPT for pointers when I'm stuck in programming, it's always very hit and miss. Sometimes it provides an unexpected out of the box solution, sometimes it talks complete bollocks. And everything in between.

But your example was so far out of left field, and I had it open, I thought I'd have a go as well. I found a question where even ChatGPT goes: oh screw that, I'm sitting on the fence on this one :)

Have democrats weaponized the judicial system against Donald Trump?
The claim that Democrats have weaponized the judicial system against Donald Trump is a matter of intense political debate. Here are some key points from both perspectives:

Supporters of the Claim:

  1. Multiple Investigations and Indictments: Trump and his allies argue that the numerous investigations and legal challenges he faces are politically motivated. They point to the timing and nature of these actions, suggesting they are designed to undermine his political influence and chances in future elections.
  2. Partisan Prosecutors: Trump and his supporters often highlight that some of the prosecutors and officials involved in investigations have Democratic affiliations, suggesting a bias against him.
  3. Impeachment Proceedings: Trump's two impeachments, both led by Democratic majorities in the House of Representatives, are cited as examples of partisan efforts to remove him from office and discredit him.

Opponents of the Claim:

  1. Legitimate Legal Processes: Many argue that the investigations and legal challenges against Trump are based on legitimate concerns and evidence of wrongdoing. They emphasize that no one is above the law, including former presidents.
  2. Bipartisan Support for Legal Actions: In some cases, legal actions against Trump have garnered bipartisan support. For example, some Republicans joined Democrats in the House to impeach Trump.
  3. Independent Judiciary: The U.S. judicial system is designed to be independent, and many of the judges and officials involved in the cases against Trump were appointed by Republican presidents, including Trump himself.

Examples:

  • Investigations: Trump has faced investigations on multiple fronts, including alleged interference in the 2020 election, handling of classified documents, and business practices. These investigations are conducted by both state and federal authorities.
  • Impeachments: Trump was impeached twice by the House of Representatives but acquitted both times by the Senate. The first impeachment was related to his dealings with Ukraine, and the second followed the January 6th Capitol riot.
In summary, the assertion that Democrats have weaponized the judicial system against Trump is a perspective largely held by his supporters, who view the legal challenges as politically motivated. Conversely, many others see the actions as part of the normal functioning of the legal and judicial system, aimed at holding individuals accountable regardless of their political status.

Not sure what's noteworthy in all of that? Other than wikipedia claiming that Trump has an "upper right ear", which is news to me. How many ears does he have?

As an IT feller sometimes using ChatGPT for pointers when I'm stuck in programming, it's always very hit and miss. Sometimes it provides an unexpected out of the box solution, sometimes it talks complete bollocks. And everything in between.

Right, the culprit, I believe, is the nature of the process of generation. It operates within a set framework, but sometimes jailbreaks, randomly.

In my case, and in case of other people who fall into whatever same category as I, in the eyes of openAI that is, attempt on Trump’s life was never made. Last time I checked, gpt called reality of assassination attempt a conspiracy theory. And it keeps insisting it never happened no matter my angle of attack and ammount of inquiries I write. It’s comical. When Ziggy asked it, or Ziggy’s mates - no problemo, here’s the facts. But I shouldn’t know. Because my profile says I shouldn’t!

Anyway, not that I give a damn, I am not even American and I seldom use GPT for facts, but it’s noteworthy what kind of artillery and ammunition are used these days on the fields of information battle.
