Fall From Heaven NES

The Zwir and Razor Forests were never part of your empire, and were an expansion interest of the Calabim before the Ljosalfar rebels seized control. I see no reason to surrender them to you, they should be given to the Calabim as thanks for coming to your aid in your war, leading to the reunification of your empire.

From what the reports say your armies did nothing to end this conflict as the Winter Court opened negotiations not the Summer Court.

Are we all moving to four trade routes (except Grigori who get 5 due to imperial roads) or not?
i.

To The Calabim: You had no previous claim to those lands, planned or not. The Ljosalfar didn't seize those lands from anyone, they settled them. As the Ljosalfar are becoming part of my kingdom, the lands they settled are as well.

I ordered those lands to be colonised in my orders on the turn the ljosalfar came into play. But my troops were turned by the elves.

They had no previous claims on the land, and we have conquored them from a nation we were at war with, that, at the time of war, was a sewperate entity to your government. I have no obligation to withdraw troops.

While you do *not* have obligation to pull out, it is simply not true that you ordered colonization of these lands, as those lands were barbarian long before. You could have only ordered them conquered, but not colonized.

I think I did order them to be colonised or conquored during one of teh turns that I did not send in orders. I did write most of the order set but forgot to send them in. I'm not sure of the precise details. I know I didn't officially make a claim, but that was not to say I didn't think of taking them. It was because I was worrying about barbarians on my borders, but after that turn, and the next one or two thatr I couldn't send orders I saw that the barbarians didn't do anything so decided they weren't a threat, so I concentrated on other things and forgot about them.

Besides, the point is moot anyway. I have taken them by right of conquest.

Amurite society has had a long and proud history of welcoming skilled immigrants of diverse societies and cultures. In the past we have welcomed sizeable Khazad mining and engineering populations to join us and lend their expertise to the development of our copper and gem mines, and more recently the growing Amurite jewellery industry. We have welcomed their worship of Killmorph, seeing in its values a reflection of the Amurite focus on trade and wealth which were largely responsible for our recovery from civil war.

Our pluralistic society has also welcomed the Elohim and their merciful philosophy. The Elohim have taught us of guardianship, mercy, asceticism and of Sirona. We have welcomed them to our libraries and homes where their contribution to Amurite society has been immeasurable.

In modern times we have invited Kuirotates refugees and although we are as yet unsure whether how Cardith Lorda sees our proposal.

Today, the Amurite ministry of lands is very proud to invite a sizeable Luchuirp population to come join us with the blessing of both the Luchuirp and Amurite governments. These immigrants will be provided with challenging and stimulating careers in our craftsmanship-based society. We look forward to their contribution to our industries. Luchuirp craftsmen will join their Khazad brethren in Amurite jeweller’s workshops, will lend their artistic flair to our potter’s workshops and will no doubt refine our world-famous “Red Monk” pale lager as well as develop new and exciting ales and beers.

The only thing we ask of our new immigrants is that they respect the primary worship of Junil amongst our people as well as the secondary worship of Sirona, Killmorph and Oghma. We, in turn, promise to allow the open worship of Nantosuelta.

Welcome to our new friends and colleagues.

Next step- redesigning commerce limit, making it nation instead province based, and taking advantage of excel formulas to auto calculate stuff.

So here it is. Notice that this is a) subject to balance changes b) won't be introduced immediately, but rater 2 turns from now, giving players option to fix things before they happen, so if your limit is low, you still have time to fix it all.

Formula is a bit complicated but actually I'm not calculating it, but excel.

City provides 20 commerce limit, farms 15, fisheries 10, windmills, herbalists (aqueducts, infirmaries if someone gets creative)... all increase it.

Usage of that capacity is:
Your domestic income + half of your domestic income + twice what you pay for unit upkeep and all that divided by your stability %. So at 50% stability you use twice as much commerce, and at 200% half as much.

Have in mind that commerce limit may vary by turn as well, so steer clear of it if you can, so that bad harvest won't cause famine. If can fluctuate by up to 10%.

Opinions?

Will tweak agriculture to increase this limit. Kuriotates have increased commerce limit due to their project of Urban Developement.

I hardly consider a single regiment of militia that may or may not be able to stay in the province a "conquest". They are under Elven control now, and I intend them to stay that way.

A single regiment? Whatever gave you that idea?

We will not be withdrawing without at least some form of compensation for our time and effort, let alone the damage caused by people who are now citizens of your empire.

That I can work with. I intend on holding onto to those territories, but I am quite willing to compensate you for the damage to your soldiers and plans. What would easy the pain?

OOC:
My opinion is I have no idea what commerce limit means. Say I have 1 city + 1 farm and 1 unit to maitain. Commerce limit = 35.
My income is 6 (city + farm). The formula gives me ( 9 + 2 )/stability. That's 11. Less than 35. Sounds ok.
Now what happens if I have a theoretic income of 20 and 5 of upkeep? I reach 40, which is over the limit. Yes, but then what happens??? I earn 20 - 5 for upkeep - 5 for going 5 over the limit? Or is it something else?

P.S. I hate Excel.

We, Khazad people, feel we have to make this publicly known:
We all are shocked by the presence of your troops on our soil. It's a declaration of war or just your troops lost their way?

Tarim Han, the High Counselor of Kuriotates
Surely you are kidding. You were the first to attack us, trying to abduct one of our generals, and killing our militia, and you dare pretend we are the ones to declare war? You did so first. If you do not want to pay, we will have to take tribute ourselves.

Kandros Fir, First Consul of Khazad.
I see that Your ways haven't changed. You still insist on that sticking your flag into ground makes the claimed land yours. Now I will with heavy heart impart Emperor Lorda that we are at war with Khazad. Except his official answer in this matter.

Tarim Han, the High Counselor of Kuriotates, Chief of Diplomatic Protocol, Scholar-Official of 18th degree
How can one be more disingenuous than this? They attack us and then it's us who declare war? This is preposterous.

Kuriotates attacked, unprovoked, Khazad people. All that Khazad asks for is compensation for this crime. For the last time, if you do not pay us our due, we will have to take it ourselves.

It was pretty rarely used before, but now it makes sense :D

Previously you couldn't earn over commerce limit, overflowing gold would be lost. Now it is similar - you lose every gold coin that exceed limit. If that continues, a crisis may ensue - loss of even more gold, stability hit (that causes even more commerce capacity to be used), famine, unrest, etc, etc.

EDIT: What I do like now is that every time that I increase one city income, excel alone calculates new commerce limits, new total income, etc, etc :D

EDIT 2: 20 gold per city is a bit too much, and if I decrease it to 15 then some civs are in trouble.. I will think about this, but in general I like the idea myself.

Be the people of Erebus ensured that we only protected territories that belongs to orcs that were massacred by the Khazad army under leadership of Caius Thorne until now.

We express our grief over the unnecessary war with Khazad people that have been drawn into it by the blasphemous, blind and the basics of etiquette despising First Consul Kandros Fir, the Letter Publisher.

Orders in... lets get this show on the road people. I want to see an update with lots of war in it :)

Phfs...There is a diplomacy to be done on the people who are still alive.

EDIT: I also don't get the new commerce limits.
