Fall From Heaven NES

Ha! I like how you don't mention ME immac! I guess you think I won't be making it to tier 4

*sigh* me, sorry guys. I've been a little distracted by RL lately. Not withdrawing, but slowing a bit, sorry.

Edit: OOC:I hate double posting
IC: The Twins Courts have convened and decided that the nature of Amurite aggression has nullified the embargo agreements, and therefore will return the trade route (formerly to, and with no ill intentions released from, the Lanun) to the Calabim.

Shame on you fickle Senate, even I followed through once peace talks were in order.

The Lanun concur with the elves. The Amurite action in this matter have been drastic enough to absolve our prior agreement, and thus we feel that we are free once again to trade with the Calabim.

Thus, we wish to give one of our Sidha trade routes to the Calabim, as a token of our displeasure.

[OOC: It's fine that you moved the trade route, Tyrs, no hard feelings. I promise.]

EDIT: as long as I'm at it, I'll steal Immac's thunder and repost the trade routes here - note that the Calabim are unchanged; they may decide to move theirs around a bit after this:

Kuriotates: Grigori, Grigori, Amurite, Balseraphs

Grigori: Khazad, Khazad, Kuriotates, Calabim

Khazad: Grigori, Grigori, Amurites, Hippus

Balseraph: Luchuirp, Luchuirp, Luchuirp, Kuriotates

Amurite: Kuriotate, Lanun, Luchuirp, Khazad, Sidha

Luchuirp: Balseraphs, Balseraphs, Balseraphs, Amurites

Sidha: Lanun, Calabim, Amurites, Luchuirp

Lanun: Sidha, Calabim, Amurites, Hippus

Calabim: Grigori, Lanun, Empty, Empty

Hippus: Amurites, Lanun

Hey all. I'm back home and now I see war here :) I'll start updating either afternoon, or when I get back to capital in Sunday.
I actually didn't expect war :) Good luck to both sides ;)

Masada, do you have MSN?

i can't get my orders in that fast jopa.

EDIT: Orange: You'll have to update the traderoutes you posted. Khazad might have something to say about them.

i.

My orders will be in tomorrow. Obviously I have a lot to consider during this turn so I will be sending orders in last minute I would think.

New routes of the Calabim: Lanun, Svartalfar, Balseraph

Unfortunately, I can no longer offer the two for one deal to the bals as the embargo has ended. If you give me a route then I will give you one in return.

Grigori, I know you will understand. I don't think our trade will be able to continue properly an anyway with what you have planned. Still, thanks for helping me out during the Embargo, that was appreciated.

IC post coming soonish.

Strictly Out-Of-Character:

I know that no one likes being dog-piled and maybe some people think that i am trying to set one up on the Calabim.
I know that i wasted people's time and Kol's energy with negotiations to lift an embargo then turned around and just ignored those negotiations.

And i feel bad for that. Thats part of why i declared war openly on the forum before i attacked his forces. He has an opportunity to properly defend himself and spend money on units instead of being caught in the middle of some longterm project with all his units on the elven border.
In addition, i have a feeling that the international community will quickly be coming to the rescue of their new friends in the face of amurite agression, at least the trade routes are back in place.
Anyway, i don't want anyone thinking that this 'wasn't fair' or anything and if there's anything i can do OOC to alleviate those sorts of fears, please PM me.
Okay, so also, in game, i would be angry that the payments i made (and one-sided deals i signed) to enforce the embargo that i made are being thrown away after only one turn, for the sake of fairness, this won't be an issue (in most cases- there is one exception).

Anyway, i hope no one is OOC upset or thinks this is an underhanded thing to do AND if you do think that, then please send me a PM and tell me so.

My orders are in.

Also Strictly Out of Character

While it was quite annoying to be victimised by everyone and betrayed by all my allies, the Embargo probably didn't hurt me as much as Immaculate would have liked it to, and I'm almost certain he would have paid out more in bribes then I lost from the embargo.

The Embargo promted me to find other ways to get cash, so I switched to slavery to increase development, and then invented the Crown Control civic, which had a nice synergy with my increased amount of improvements. While I accept that I lost some income, it probably wasn't too crushing.

Also, I have completed a tech tree of the the techs I will be including in the sequal if I run it. If not then someone else may be able to make use of it. It has 45 techs, which may be too many, but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Actually, this NES has around 40 so maybe not so.

They would have to be quite a bit cheaper than in this game for that to work out well. And only take about a turn to research.

IMO the research in this game was too quick and cheap. It really hindered the "alone in wilderness" part.

Orders in.

I hope they're ok Jopa, because I wanted to check them with you but you haven't been available.

Looking forward to the update, hopefully my nation will still be at least partially around next turn.

Viva la Calabim!

You won't be dead. If the Kuriotates managed to survive as long as they did, you don't have to worry at all - and the Kuriotates could have kept going, if Algeroth hadn't pulled out.

I still can't believe that he managed it.

EDIT: as long as I'm at it, I'll steal Immac's thunder and repost the trade routes here - note that the Calabim are unchanged; they may decide to move theirs around a bit after this:

Kuriotates: Grigori, Grigori, Amurite, Balseraphs

Grigori: Khazad, Khazad, Kuriotates, Calabim

Khazad: Grigori, Grigori, Amurites, Hippus

Balseraph: Luchuirp, Luchuirp, Luchuirp, Kuriotates

Amurite: Kuriotate, Lanun, Luchuirp, Khazad, Sidha

Luchuirp: Balseraphs, Balseraphs, Balseraphs, Amurites

Sidha: Lanun, Calabim, Amurites, Luchuirp

Lanun: Sidha, Calabim, Amurites, Hippus

Calabim: Grigori, Lanun, Empty, Empty

Hippus: Amurites, Lanun
These are wrong, you didn't read my posts. Grigori aren't authorized to trade to Khazad, and I changed my own trade routes, so we have:
Kuriotates: unknown

Grigori: ?, ?, Kuriotates(?), Calabim

Khazad: Kuriotates, Kuriotates, Amurites, Hippus

I think I owe you few insights into Kuriotates to prevent future misunderstanding.

The Octopus Overlords

The Octopus Overlords (or just Overlords) became integral part of Kuriotate society and managed to coexist with other religion peacefully. While the first contacts, preaching and conversions stirred up a great opposition toward them and due to their criminal activities - like human drowning, slavery, forced usage of drugs and many other violent crimes - the were persecuted, after some time they managed to blend into normal life. No one knows why they did it, if the violent sects were wiped out, their erratic masters decided to be nice and helpful in this aeon or decided for more subtle approach or they were transformed by the peaceful nature of Kuriotates. But truth is that until the arrival of Elohim monks, it were priests of Overlords who run efforts to help the most unfortunate of Kuriotate people.

What started as a asylum in Kwythelhelar turned into orphanages and eating halls for the poor. Other religions run this social institutions too but it was only for the followers of their religion. The Overlord cultist couldn't care less. For them everyone was equal from starving leper on the streets of Avelron through Grigori merchant or drunken centaur veteran to Cardith Lorda himself. One deserved special attention only if the Overlords prepared special destiny for him. Many people doubt their intentions claiming that the priest are handling bread to the poor children without any feeling of pity or compassion but as long they provided these services they were welcomed in Kuriotate lands.

Pantheon of Octopus Overlords was important part of rural worship together with the Cult of the Snake but they lost much of their influence after the rise of the Order who shunned them due to their chaotic nature and blame them for being a magnet for violent lunatics. While it was true that Overlords attracted a broad spectrum of crazy maniac - As the Undertow testified- but no one could prove any direct connection between them and these cults outside pure inspiration. But this aura of inspiration brought them a broader public support they needed after the Order stripped them of their importance on countryside except fishing areas. The poor of Kuriotates cities were supporting them even if they were not following them and their dream tellers gained them supportersbetween artist, boheme and rising class of merchant aristocracy. And between immigrant Balseraph comunity. The Clowns while they were not followers of Overlords themselves found their presence emulate a familiar feeling of home, so little experienced between down-to-earth Kuriotates.
