Fall From Heaven NES

@Immaculate: All the ammendments you asked for have been put into the treaty. Are you going to sign it or not? (we will have one Haloi there, or none at all if you have no magic users present)

the Grigori are still at war with everybody, and the Kuriotates are going to sign a peace, then be given over to Masada in some fashion. At the moment, it doesn't appear that any of these stances will change by the end of the turn.

I think that I can say, that Grigori as nation will cease all their wars before/when this turn ends.

When is deadline for orders?

I'll take my time to read the stories :)
I was asked if I could update earlier, I could, but since we seem busy with diplo, let's make it Sunday. I might be heading home for the weekend, in that case I'll probably write most of the update in bus and upload it in Monday.

Kol, if I won't be on msn later, you can send me map in email. I think I will be though.

@KOL:
ammed 2a.

@JOPA:
so orders are due sunday?

OOC:
I could, but since we seem busy with diplo, let's make it Sunday
To me, Friday afternoon = Sunday evening. So any diplo with Khazad should be conducted today or tomorrow morning at the latest.

IC:
The Khazad offers the service of one of our censors and several magistrates to help with whatever poll the Calabim nation decides to set up.

@ LDI: we might take you up on that.
i would be good with that if the calabim are also.
Could you put a conditional clause that if you are required you'll show up in your orders please?

i.

@JOPA: Fixed. thanks.

Excellent. If any other nations wish to do so please say. There will be no risk to your agents as long as they comply with the no magic, no illegal goods etc rules.

We particularly call upon the Balseraph and Grigori nations to send represenatives.

The reps will be required if the poll goes ahead, which it most probably will.

Oh, just noticed one thing Kol.
Ammend 1a to not include vampires. We don't care what those souless buggers think about the council of MAN.

trying to pull a fast one said:
c) The Council of Man

- Humans above the age of 25 may vote, if they wish to do so, to elect a human representative for their Nome. (There are 21 Nomes in the Empire)
- The Aristocratic Famillies of the Nome will each nominate one nominee, these are the Humans that may be voted for. In Nomes controlled by only one Noble familly, the familly will nominate two nominees. The Nominees will create their parties as they see fit.
- The Aristocrats may withdraw their sponsorship from their nominee at any time, removing him and his party from the election.
- The Clergy may elect a leader for their party, so they may be represented in the Council.
- We will allow any formal (recognised) guild or organisation consisting of 1000 people or more to elect a representative party.
- Nome Elections will be held every 5 years, Clergy Elections will be held every 7 years, but may be held at any time after 1 year if the Matriarch calls for it. Guildsmen and other organisations may elect new leaders at any time between 1 and 3 years after their leader is elected.
- The Council of Man may elect people to fill the positions of Representative of Religion, Economy, Welfare, and Culture, and will vote acccording to their social class. These representatives will sit on the Council of Nobles and will bring the matters of the people to the Aristocracy.

I almost didn't notice this.
Can you clarify...? Does this mean that vampire aristrocrats will get to choose who can be a representative? If this is so, this just won't fly.

The Poll will take a sample of the whole population, or the deserving population. We will not exclude 10 vampiric votes if we must include 50(!!!) Kraltavoi and slave votes. Please be reasonable in this matter, as Vampires will not vote in the elections of the Council of Man if it goes ahead, but desereve a (small) say at least on the direction our nation is to take. We stress that we have given 5 times as many votes to the undeserving people as we have to Vampires, and have given Vampires only 0.5% of the vote while they would usually have 100%.

The Aristocratic Famillies pick nominees, who are then voted on by the common folk. This complies with this comment from Ammurite senate:

Should the entire human population vote to have representatives, then you are free to weigh those representatives (within reason) according to your system of meritocracy, but the poll itself must examine the opinions of all.

The Vampires pick the people who they think are most capable and likely to succeed, these people then form their parties and compete for the votes of the commoners.

Also, although I've never mentioned this before, our nation is probably less corrupt then you think. Every year, the people of the Calabim vote for who they ''pledge their allegiance to'', their options are the people who sit on the Nobleman's Council and have a political pressence in their local area. The votes are counted, and the results are published in the Annual Alligence Register, whoever gets the most votes in each village controls it, but the taxes are split between the politicians in the ratio of the votes, after the government dues are deducted of course. This is how the influence of the Noble famillies grows or shrinks. Although the CoM elections will be disassociated with this, teh Human Ministers on the CoN will be able to increase their poower in the AAR.

OKay, we accept this- but
1) no grigori scum
2) explain what you mean in what i quoted in post 1272.

The Grigori are one of the few nations that are not under your influence, therefore if they are good enough to want to help they may. I explained what you quoted in my last two posts.

Not acceptable- we know a puppet and his master when we smell one.

They are one of the few who are under your influence. This nation wasn't trading wiht you until after the embargo. Choose nations that never did and currently aren't trading with you. That way we know the embargo never affected them. Balseraph are fine. So are Khazad.

We will need more representatives then these if we are to exclude the Grigori, however we would rather not do so as the Grigori are the only nation that have shown to be unresponsive to Amurite bribery.

We put the clause in question into the treaty at your own suggestion, to retain our culture of mertocracy. How else would you suggest the nominees are selected? Afterall, in many nomes, people may actually need to be forced into campaigning as only a very small percentage of Calabim humans have any interest in politics, and most of these live in the Nome of Prespur and already work in one of the government's numerous agencies, and sit on the Council of Nobles.

Also, some of our Nomes have very sparse populations.

To make things clear and allow for people to respond if they want to, here are the new trade routes from Khazad (provided Kuriotates agree to our terms):
Khazad Trade routes: Kuriotates x 2, Amurite, Hippus.
