I don't think being banned from OT would affect me much, since I mostly browse and you can still do that while banned. I'd probably be more unhappy if I couldn't post in Sports Talk though. Or at least my RL friends would be more unhappy, as I would more frequently bore them with extended sports related diatribes . . .

But you still can browse the forums and read the threads (I guess, since I have never been banned ). The only thing you can't do is to post. So, what is the point? if you have an exam being banned won't cut your time you waste spend at OT too much, You'll be reading the witty posters instead of studing.

Time spent is halfed by not posting though. Because your posts get criticism, and then you have to reply and before you know it a few hours have passed instead of a half hour reading the witticisms.

I once asked for a week-long ban. You see, I had two papers, each 20-page research papers for which I had done no research, that each made up 40% of the grade of their respective classes, due in the next week. I knew I didn't have the strength to stay away on my own, so one of the moderators (can I say this, or is this commenting on mod actions? I won't say which) cut me off for a week. I don't know what I would do without CFC OT. Find another forum and start from scratch, maybe.

There are so many other forums that it wouldn't matter much if one of them would go down. Of course it's sad (especially if it's a high quality forum like CFC) but it wouldn't change my life much.

Why Kill Yourself?

I remember seeing once some discussion about folks who voluntarily requested they be banned by the authorities in order to shore up their real life social and health situations. That to me sounds like using radiation therapy to treat a problem that much gentler herbs and natural healing could have done.

Okay, maybe suicide is the only way for you to escape the pain. But I reckon, hey! if your gonna go out do it with a bang. Like I mean, the terrorists do it in style. Get your name in the papers. Cause some havoc. Knock off some people you think are evil. There are lots of ways to do that on a forum too like by posting over-the-top porno showing off you humping your girlfriend (or boyfriend) or pictures of hideous, graphic wounds from rotten.com. I'm not recommending this of course. I'm only questioning the logic behind the selection of suicide method.

Anyways, please vote and feel free to comment on this madness.
