Plans
Upgrade 5 Horses to Knights. These Knights will fill our empty Armies. The Pentagon is in Mr. Peppermint, so we can have four Knight Armies. Two empty armies are outside of Pasedena, the third is at Altin Tepe. We have one Knight Army in Pee-wee's Playhouse already and all our current Knights are in it. I would like to have two Knight armies on each front (briefly) and then send them out to destroy cities.

Build a city 2W of West Greebley. Settler is in Wineton; could reach that tile in 2 turns and build in 3.

We should be able to capture Tolosa (3-Celtic) which is 2SW of Wineton.

Capture Boston.

Claim some Dyes from SE of Boston, somehow. If we build in the forest 2SE of Boston one Dye will be ours, already roaded.

I think we need an army in the far south to deal with the plague of AI-Tundranitis that we keep getting.

While I'm almost tempted to start settling the south tundra, I think a far better use is to send our settlers towards our front lines. We do have some gaps in our interior, but have new cities on the front lines seems more important.

we'll need four more cities to get another Army. We have no Small Wonders to build.

West Greebley-Pee-wee's Playhouse-Mr. Peppermint area will continue to see a lot of action.

We have two libraries.

you know the spot where the one army stands now near Akkad is a perfect spot for another city. It gives us a canal city and a nice choke

Build a city 2W of West Greebley. Settler is in Wineton; could reach that tile in 2 turns and build in 3.

The enemy troops may need clearing out and the roads built first - I am not sure. If it takes longer to set up, I think that is good too - its just something to work towards. We are going to want a unit(pike) on the mountain between West Greebley and the new town as well - enemies on that square will be a pain.

Ya, that seems a good idea to me as well. I believe we do have a settler along the Northern front that could be used. It will take several turns to destroy Akkad. The army attacked once and then retreated to heal. My hope is that the Pike, Spear, Immortal if fortified on that square will cause the AI to go around. Not sure it will work or not, but you could try it. If units go to the pillaged square, then it isn't working.

Enemy troops are a pain, but we only need to build one road to connect this city, on the tile 1NE of Wineton. But this city will need defenders and we don't really have any to spare in this area at this time. Looks like a mid-turnset build at this point.

Those general plans sound fine. It'll be good to get the dyes SE of Boston hooked up eventually, but when we're only running 10% lux it's not a burning need, so you don't have to take chances to get that done during your round.

Getting some armies out on the attack again is a high priority, and as always, they should operate in pairs if possible. What Greebley reports about having to retreat to heal at Akkad is typical of single-army offensives. There's nothing special about Immortal armies now that they're facing pikemen.

Some details:

We're due to complete five pikemen this IT, and you should look over all those builds to see if pikes are what you really want. In particular, we're likely to be in some short-term trouble around Pee-wee's Playhouse next turn, so work out whether you want PWP and Tyre to produce pikes to absorb attacks or Immortals to make attacks. I'd take the Immortals.

Persepolis should return to producing four-turn settlers once it completes its marketplace.

Since Kandahar is on a river, I'd change that settler build.

When it completes its present knight Pasadena should be re-adjusted to 18 spt for efficient four-turn production of knights. (Was it set up for 16 spt, as though knights cost 80 shields? That's one of the commonest little errors in the game. ;))

We could use a few warriors as cheap MP units. So Ghulaman should switch to a warrior build, and we shouldn't hook that town up to our road network yet. With properly timed forest chops, we could get several warriors out of Ghulaman quickly.

This is outright quibbling now :D, but Sardis should be set for more population growth (taking an irrigated tile from Newer York), since it's only producing one shield anyway.

I'll be playing this weekend.

Send some slaves to road the mountains, seeking to connect Saltpeter when it appears.

Forgot that we needed to meet and greet the Mongols, just NW of PWP. Our new neighbors are broke and stupid, lacking knowledge of Philosophy, Literature, POlytheism and Construction.

Eighth Army (9/17) is probably strong enough to take out the rMace in Babylon's newest city of Karana. Four Bab Maces 1SW of Karana make surviving the destruction of Karana a bit too risky, not to mention the Japanese and German Maces adjacent to the city, so we opt to heal instead.
First Immortal (10/18) heals 1N of Kandahar.
Fourth Immortal (13/18) heals inside Babylonian territory.
Seventh Immortal (15/17) moves out of Tolosa towards Taegwon of Korea in the west. Horses are visible inside the city limits.

12th Army (13/13) scalps two Indian Archers 1S-1SE of Altin Tepe (83 of 96).
10th Army (11/13) mauls two Bab Mace at Nile (85 of 98) and moves towards South Akkad.
eImmortal from Nile, eImmortal* from Altin Tepe and 3/5 Immortal* undo 3 little Indians between Nile and Altin Tepe (88 of 101).
New vKnight in Shariz get rid of the Yankee Archer at Bunyan and becomes Elite (89 of 102).
6th Immortal gets rid of one Byzantine Pike and one Korean Pike around Kandahar (91 of 104).

7th Army (7/17) moves back inside our borders.
9th Army (5/17) heals in PWP.
Acheamenus (9/18) heals in Altin Tepe.
1st Army (14/18) moves onto the mountain between the Greebleys.
ePike on that mountian mouves into Far West Greebley.

Korea and Japan both know Theology.
[IBT]

And the save is attached.

got it

the question now is, shall we start self research since theology is spread or hope we get chemistry ourselves?

Nice to expand our empire btw :goodjob:

I did not have as much time as I had hoped over the weekend. Five turns was enough.

High Points:

We know Gunpowder.

Saltpeter is connnected, via Atlanta, which is built on that resource.

We learn Theology this IBT.

We got two MGLs. One rushed a Market in Pasadena, the other rushed an Aqueduct in Horse Town.

We now have 52 cities and can support another Army.

Randomly Ordered Details
In the west, Far West Greebley was founded, 2W of West Greebley. It has three trebuchets, three Pikes and 1 eHorse for defense. It is connected in the south. Immortal Pipsqueaks is nearby to help. On this IBT, three 3/4 Korean Maces and two Incan units (UU and Horse) may attack.

Greece is sending its first surge towards us right now. Korea is always sendig units. Most of the action is still around Peewee's Playhouse.

We have an Army on the mountain between the two Greebley cities. Two slaves are there also, ready to road.

In the east, we built South Akkad 1S-1SW of Akkad, which is protected by a Pike. Babylon has Knights and South Akkad is reachable by at least one this IBT. Two Armies are at Akkad, both are fairly healthly, and it could fall this next turn. We pretty much blunted the main Japanese attack. The current worry are Babylonian Knights.

Altin Tepe has been the main Japanese focus; India is looking at empty cities. France is heade towards Bunyan at the moment. Babylon hits around Nile and now South Akkad.

Also in the east are 10th and 12th Armies, both full of Knights. Each has only three Knights, not four, so be careful with them. 12th Army is targeting Indian Archers at the moment, so 13 HP is okay. 10th Army is getting ready to tangle with Babylon and could really use that 4th Knight.

At Ghulaman, we finish a chop this IBT for an rWarrior (1W of the city) followed by another chop that completes in 3 turns (1SW of the city). Remember, we don't want to connect this city until all the forests are gone to make rWarriors, who will then serve as MPs in some of our cities. The two slaves 1N (?) of the city just moved there this turn for future chopping.

We have a lot of slaves and we seem to be running out of things for them to do. In the southwest, we have at least two stacks roading mountains in an attempt to hook up Saltpeter. We still have a few native workers but I think we should consider adding them to our cities.

We have one vHorse that we can upgrade to a Knight. In Far West Greebley is our lone eHorse.

Persepolis makes a settler this turn, but I didn't do anything special to it; figured we would tweak it when it got back to size 5.

We also built Hadji in our southwest and captured Tolosa from the Celts. We razed the Korean city of Taegwon for 18 gold and 0 slaves.

Immortals upgrade to Guerillas, so we can make them for a long time to come, if we want to.

Looks good. :goodjob:

Fine technique on the warrior-building forest chops at Ghulaman.

I wouldn't start real research during your round, but it would be good if you could get some of our cheap libraries built in our core cities.

lurker's comment: Nice Set CBob! Looks like the tide is in your favor. I'm glad to see progress in this great AWM epic. :)

I played one turn last night and needed a break after that. The game is very dicey with so many enemies.

It is hard to break out, that is for sure. With our south devoid of units, it is really tough to defend there.

Btw, our land is really lousy with all the plains. The game couldn't be any tougher.

Sure, take your time. You're entitled to the same week as anyone else, though I can't recall that you've ever used it.

Plus, everyone is sending settler pairs to settle that vast South Tundra. Easy pickings for us, but that means that only a few of the AI are fighting amongest themselves. And we more AI as they look to build their idiotic igloo complexes.

I hate to build on tundra, but maybe we should.

:hmm:

I still don't like it. The cities cannot grow very well, so using that area as a clustering of science farms is not an option. The only reason(s) to build down there is to deny the AI the chance to build there and to increase the overall city count. There are roughly 200 tiles we would have to fill, or about 10 cities to claim it all as our own, if we placed our cities in such a manner to insure that the AI would not want to build there. Ten cities would take about 30 turns to produce (7 or 8 from Persepolis and a few other settler builds) plus walking time; could take 40 turns to build everything.

Ten bad cities that don't gain us a whole lot. I still don't like it.

One advantage to filling it is that we will hit the city limit faster. We can then abandon towns in the tundra for more viable ones. Its like reserving these towns ahead of time.

The biggest drawback though is that it would increase corruption as some of those towns will be closer than ones that could be viable.
