And by democracy i meant republic

that's ok, i didn't add anything saying we were switching government...i was sick when i sent the message to MIA.

should we write up a new message to MIA? they haven't responded in a good deal of time, and i think we should try to keep our friendly relations with them going. also, if we do decide another message to them, what should we say?

Keep in mind that (as far as I can tell) virtually everyone from MIA is in the Civ4 MTDG, so I doubt that they want to ditch us.

As for the message we might want to say something about how their warrior in our contant is doing, what glimpses of the enemy he might have seen.

I think we should ask them about how (bad) their relations with the galls is at the moment. And perhaps tell them about how we founded a city on the edge of the jungle and claimed the incense before the iroqi could.

We could ask them if their warrior has been near the silks in the western jungle. We should also tell them we're about to be engulfed in anarchy which will slow our advance towards engineering. No need to mention that we've had research off for a few turns. :mischief:

Here's my proposed message. Please give feedback!

Dear MIA,

It has been a long time since we have heard from your people. As such, my people have decided to send you a message with news of our current state and some questions we hope you can answer.

To begin with, bands of settlers have been organized and have founded 3 new cities to be added to our growing empire. The cities of Carpetbomb and Fort Carponperdixes have been rebuilt and are working at making those settlements productive. We have also founded another city at the edge of the Sacred Jungle, just before we ended D'Nut War. This city also has incense in its borders, which will greatly help us and hurt D'Nuts. :) Also, we are going to be entering anarchy soon, which will allow us to switch to a Republican government. This will obviously slow down our research rate in regards to discovering Engineering.

Now, we have a few questions we hope you could answer for us. We were wondering how your relations with the Galls are. Will you be entering war with them soon? Is there anything we could do to help if war breaks out? You should know that we will be ready to help you if diplomacy fails between you and the Galls. We will stand by our allies and work with you to fight the Galls if war breaks out. Also, we were curious as to the location of your warrior on our continent. Is there any news of D'Nuts you could relay to us? Has your warrior been near the silks in the western part of the Sacred Jungle? We plan to settle a city there, so any news of Nutter prescense in the area would be greatly appreciated.

Goodbye for now.

:wow: I didn't think they were so close to our continent. I think we should go exploring their lands now instead of D'Nuts. It would be useful to know the capabilities of our alllies for the future. This could help us know how much they could help us, in future wars and stuff. :)

also, i'm sending the message right now.

New Reply from the Greeks!

To greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

Thank you for your message, we are indeed relieved that your civilization is well on the way to recovering from the scars of war and that you are in fact beginning to expand.

Regarding the switch to Republic and it's effect on researching Engineering, when will you be expecting to complete your studies?

The relationship with KISS is glacial to the degree that climates are effected. We still hold out for peace, but feel that the tendrils of war will entangle us soon ... I guess that old Father Chronos will answer all in due course ... we have crossed every limb and bendable extremity, even if it meant snapping the odd bone to achieve ;)

As to your offer of assistance, maybe there is something :mischief: ... it depends on how things develop diplomatically, we will contact you in due course.

Our Warrior is near the Nutter borders, we see activity all around reminding us of ants in a nest, building and digging and founding new cities ... all the time protected by the various fighter castes. We recently saw the Mounted Warrior resplendent in plumage running down the savage barbarian tribes. We plan to bring our wanderer up to your lands soon, where we will of course respect your boundaries. We have seen silk in our wanderings, they were deep in the jungle surrounding a high snow capped peak jutting up at the sky. However this was some time ago but at that stage empty of any presence, we can only confirm that as we speak, this area is city free.

Welcome to the Benefits of a Peaceful Neighbourhood.

Foreign Minister MIA

I say we offer them as a "gesture of friendship," free-rein of our terrority. Afterall, what the hell is a single warrior going to do at this stage?

If they want to explore in our terrority, let them.

so, should we ask them to sign a Right of Passage to make it an official agreement, or just give them unofficial access to wander our lands?

Propose a Right of Passage Agreement, but give them 'unofficial' access to our lands anyway.

Maybe even invite their warrior to a party outside of our capital? :p

We can make it a special event of sometype.

ok, i'll write up a reply tomorrow. :)

Can we sign a right of passage without an embassy? I've been playing Civ III for over four years now so you'd think I'd know the answer to that question! Anyway, we can offer them access to our borders through a gentleman's agreement if they don't want a formal right of passage.

Oh, and we don't know how long it'll take for us to finish engineering. We'll have to get back to them on that after our anarchy is over.

no you cant sign it without an embassy, out of interest when is anarchy over?

also are we allowed to send maps of each others territory via e-mail because we could propose that idea.

Let's invite the warrior to a "re-establishment" party, in honor of our new government!

Here's my proposed reply. Please provide feedback!

Dear MIA,

First, I will answer your question of our research rate concerning Engineering. Honestly, we are unsure of how long until we discover Engineering, due to our continued Anarchy. We will give you an answer after we switch to a Republican government. Right now it is impossible to calculate how many years will pass before our wise men discover how to build bridges, clear forests properly, and construct more advanced catapults.

Also, it is my pleasure to officialy ask you to a sign a "Gentlemens Agreement" with us. This agreement would give your roaming warrior on our continent full access to our lands. Since we can't sign an official Right of Passage in-game, we are offering you this unofficial treaty instead. This deal would be a gesture of friendship on our behalf, we ask of nothing in return. If you decide to agree to this arangement, we will gladly invite you to our Government Re-Establishment Party, to be held in Dancing Banana a few decades from now. It truly wouldn't be a celebration unless a band of Greek warriors showed up brandishing axes.

[party]

Bye for now.

We have three turns or anarchy left I think.

I don't think we're allowed to send maps via e-mail (or any other way) until we can actually trade maps in the game. Not sure when that happens in Conquests. Do we need navigation?

@greekguy: Good reply. :goodjob:

Printing Press is when you can trade maps in Conquests.

Printing press is communication trading, navigation is map trading. Both cannot be done out of game until you can do them in game. The former really doesn't matter here, but the latter still is prohibited.
