Greek communication thread

Maybe also something about if their warrior that is roaming about has noticed anything about Iroq troop movements. (or did we just ask that? Forgive me if I did).

Latest from the Greeks:

Dear TNT Brothers,

The news of your great victories have swept through the streets of every MIA city and have echoed through the halls of power in Athens. All of MIA rejoices with you in your victories. May Meleet :worship: grant you many more years of triumph.

Now to the business, We hope you appreciate the work gone into this :)

Knowlege of the Dark KISS lands
Our Mapmakers and Historians have combined their records to produce this list of KISS towns that would be of interest. If you can tell us what you can already see, and what your Generals are interested in knowing, then we will be happy to try to fill in any gaps in terrain and town location.
Spoiler KISS towns & History :

East coast - North coming down
Notthefullshilling ... early city therefore well established.
Idiote ... early city therefore well established.
>> Polecat ... slightly inland, early city therefore well established.
Crackhead ... founded turn 100.
>> DuMass ... swamp, slightly inland founded turn 109.
Nincompoopicity ... founded turn 112 and a border settlement.

West coast - North coming down
Frozen Lake ... early city therefore well established, staging zone for the invasion crossing.
>> ??? ... the backlands are dark to us, but suspect a city.
> Paradise Hotel ... founded turn 110, slightly inland with coastal view directly behind wine.
Dionysus ... founded turn 116.
>> Dresden ... founded turn 111, inland behind above city ... love to give it the 'Bomber Harris 'treatment (WWII fire bombed)

North coast - following the sun (East to West)
Notthefullshilling ... early city therefore well established.
Simpleton ... capital.
Jesterton ... early city therefore well established.
Devil's Soul ... established turn 101.
However in the hinterland are a number of well established cities.

Military Strategy Talk
Spoiler :

We've assembled our top Military Generals and had them pouring over our maps and intelligence information regarding KISS. We asked them to generate some ideas to send you regarding taking the fight to KISS.

Unfortunately, the news we have to pass on from our Generals is not especially rosy.

They believe that the combination of KISS in their golden age, fighting on their home turf, having access to their own extensive road network with a high movement UU, and did we mention KISS in their golden age – makes them an extremely unappealing target for invasion.

Even if a successful crossing and landing can be achieved without detection, KISS will be able to instantly move units in to respond from up to 6 tiles away (2 move UU on roads) and within 2-3 turns can have virtually their whole army at the invasion site. This fact, combined with accelerated build ability and improved cash-rush reserves makes all but the largest invasions Dead on Arrival.
(We also believe your current power score is weak compared to KISS. If true, this means a second wave attack from KISS is a greater danger to you than any invasion you can launch on KISS would be to them)

We would dearly love to see you sail across the sea and give KISS lessons in humility – but our top military minds believe this is little more than a fiasco in the making.

Therefore, our Generals recommend that you focus on fortifying your own defences against a possible second-wave of attacks from KISS.

A secondary mission could be building a few boats to patrol your waters – and maybe even launch a feint to make KISS think an invasion is coming  and therefore unnecessarily waste KISS resources on defence.

Regular Reporting
We think that it would be in the best interest for both our teams if we begin a regular correspondence (or chat) where we exchange the relative Military Strengths data.
We would also like to extend this to a reporting on any developments between your neighbours.

When exactly does your Peace with Nuts end?
What avenues have you explored to extend this Peace?
Any correspondence with KISS?

Together, we believe we can glean more info about the strength and intentions of our mutual opponents.

This will only work if we are kept in the loop of your thinking ... Interested?

MIA Intelligence Report
Spoiler :

Military Strengths, MIA relative to -
> KISS ... AVERAGE
> Nutters ... STRONG
> TNT ... AVERAGE

Nothing of interest to declare from our scout in the Nutlands.
KISS and Nutters have entered into a technology swapping agreement and are also trading luxuries.

MIA spotters
We are in the process of sending another MIA unit to assist in spotting for KISS. We may also be able to assist in cleaning some barbarian nests from your territory if you desire. It will take some time though. :(
Our southern wanderer is also slowly making his way northwards.

The future of the Alliance of Science
We believe we still have a bright future ahead of both of our peoples. A future full of cooperation and strategic coordination to leave our enemies in the dust of history.

At this time, it's probably still too early to revive the Great Library gambit … and too early to declare it dead. The next several years will make the strategic picture much more clear. For the time being, the Great Library will just have to lurk in the background as we put other frameworks in place for our alliance.

If you'd be comfortable providing us with some numbers and estimates on your research ability, we can start drafting some plans and timelines for cooperative research.

Formal Peace Treaty.
Seems like a bit of a formality, but we're always eager to have a big state dinner (our tables are always ladened with fine food and drink) and signing ceremony! A written agreement will simply codify the good relationship we already enjoy and lay the groundwork for future building of trust. Perhaps you could draft something for us to read.
We also have to address possible contingencies if the tide turns against you. Rest assured that MIA is prepared to assist you in your endevours, but it may be prudent to begin discussing options to prevent KISS (and Nuts if they turn to the darkside) from gaining too much of an advantage.

MIA Goodwill
We are pleased to announce a second aid package for our brothers over the sea. As soon as the network is in place (in the next few turns) we will be honoured to gift you some luxurious Furs. These should help you keep your people happy until you can reconnect your own furs that were destroyed by the rampaging Galls.

Next City Naming Rights
We appreciate your goodwill gesture of letting us name a city of yours!
We think the name April's Fools would be good name and takes a swing at the KISS idiots at the same time. We would also like for you to not announce to the world that we suggested the name, it is better for both of us to keep as much information about the nature of our relationship as secret as possible.

Closing
This letter is already quite long, so we'll stop there.
We look forward to hearing back from you on Military info sharing, Science info sharing and the Peace deal.

All the best, and may your steel always be wet with the blood of invading Galls!

Your Friends and Allies,

Feaurius III
MIA Foreign Minister

looks like we got a lot to talk about before we respond to them. so, let's go, my fellow No-Namers. :)

to do list
-write up formal peace treaty
-find way to chat with them on military info sharing and science info sharing
-figure out what to ask them regarding KISS strengths, weaknesses, terrain, etc.
-should we ask for chivalry or not?
-any other stuff that needs responding or we think about (i.e. ask them about Colossus)

apparantly there building the pyramids as well, check with them about that.

though i do begin to wonder why they want our alliance so secret when KISS and the nutters know perfectly well we know about their alliance thing.

Here's my proposed reply to the Greeks. Please provide feedback!

Dear MIA,

Firstly, my people would like to congratulate you on your completion of the extraordinary Colossus. It is truly a site to behold! :goodjob: Also, concerning other World Wonder business, my people have noticed you are constructing the Pyramids. Is that what you plan on building or is it a pre-build/cover up to prevent D'Nuts and KISS from knowing what you really intend to construct?

Now, we have some questions regarding the strengths and weaknesses of KISS's forces. From across the borders, what units can you see of the Galls? Also, could you guess at the overall number of Gall troops they might have in their homeland. This info will be very useful in deciding if our nation will bring the war to KISS's shores. We also would like to thank you for the valuable information you shared with us concerning KISS. It will help us make better decisions during this war. :)

We also are happy you provided us with a name to honor a city with you. Since you don't want us to announce you provided the name April Fools, is it ok if we at least announce we are honoring the city for our friends the Greeks?

Lastly, I would like to chat with you via AIM to give you precise information concerning civ military strengths, foreign relations, and scientific research. I will also draft up an official peace treaty in time for a diplomatic chat. So, when would you be able to chat concerning these matters?

Bye for now. :)

greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

Could also maybe ask them what their concentrating their building on while KISS are busy elsewhere (us) other than that it seems good.

ok, sent the message to MIA. added in a bit asking them what they are gonna build while they are at peace.

I think we're supposed to be sending the Greeks a formal peace treaty. Who is drafting it? Also, MIA wants to know when (what day and time) you can chat greekguy.

Dear greekguy

Thank you for the shiny rocks ... I love the way they sparkle and glitter in the flame of a candle.

We are still awaiting your proposal ... we have much to talk about.

If it makes things easier, please send something in point form, it will be good to have a list of discussion topics for the grand chat.

We would like to raise the following points.
> Research strategy
> International Relations with the other teams
> Combined strategy
> Allowable Peace options with the rivals
> Open sharing of Intel

Also please note down in +GMT times the dates and times you will be available, this will make it easier for perhaps more than one MIA present at the discussions.

Sincerely yours

Feaurius III
MIA Foreign Minister

Was there checking to see if KISS had attacked and noticed this :)

Here's my proposed reply:

Dear MIA,

I am also looking foward to the upcoming chat, and hope it will extend our nations' relationship even further. It is my hope that this chat will result in trading of massive amounts of information and the formation of long term strategies. I agree with your points of discussion and also offer my suggestions to be added to the list (my additions in bold):

We would like to raise the following points.
> Research strategy
> International Relations with the other teams
> Combined strategy
> Allowable Peace options with the rivals
> Open sharing of Intel
> Detailed exchange of military intel of Greek and Ironic military
> The future of the Great Library Gambit

I will be available for chat on Wednesday, April 26th at 11:30 PM GMT (6:30 PM GMT -5, which is my timezone). If that time doesn't work for you, please tell me when you would be able to chat. Also, I will have an official peace treaty drafted and ready to sign for you in time for the chat.

Bye for now.

greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

According to the F7 screen they are no longer building the Pyramids or any other wonder.

Maybe we should add a little meat into the message to give them something to chew on. How about this:

Proposed research strategy: They work on invention and gunpowder. They sell us theology for silks (in a few turns when we have one to sell). Then we work on printing press (pre-req for democracy). We trade printing press for invention (or education if they have it). We need some deal where we can get gunpowder from them in an emergency.

Allowable peace options with rivals? Can we rule out that blasted 50 turn treatry they have? (Well, maybe we shouldn't say that.)

International relations? Let's try to isolate KISS.

Great Library Gambit? I think it's dead.

Open sharing of intel. Sure why not.

message sent to MIA, added in some stuff donsig said to add.

I think we should send out a quick emergency message to the Greeks informing them that the Galls have a settler over here. Let's play it up in the hopes the Greeks will be even more disposed to give us a good deal on theology. :)

Well, the chat will be happening sometime either today or in the next few days, so I'll make sure it is the first thing we talk about in the chat. If waiting for the chat isn't soon enough, just post, and i'll write up a message to the Greeks. :)

Maybe we should start thinking about how close MIA are as a rival, we've just been invaded by someone and allthough theyve given us some money and a luxury perhaps a better rival would have jumped in militarily.
