Greek communication thread

Im not sure if the Galls do have it because when i bought it up in terms of peace they were fairly interested.

Here's my proposed reply to the Greeks. Please provide feedback!

Dear MIA,

I'm very sorry to hear that my esteemed colleague, fe3333au, is temporarily unable to correspond with myself. I wish him a quick and speedy recovery from his medical ailment.

Now, it is time to get down to business. After much discussion following the chat between our two teams, we have the following to offer. We propose a trade deal with us providing you fine Ironic Silks, while in exchange, you will inform us of the knowledge of Theology. This deal will further increase the happiness of your people, while you further enhance your allies' knowledge of science. We hope you find this trade fair.

Also, we have to talk about research strategy. Our team has concluded that it is a neccessity of both our civs, for one of our nations to research the technology of Invention. We are unsure as to who should research this tech, as we can't resume research for another 10 turns or so, and we also need to coordinate our research, so we don't "double research" a tech. Please tell us what tech tree branch you plan on researching, and we can go from there as to who should research the pivotal tech of Invention.

Additionally, I have been instructed by my team to inform you of the current KISS war situation. As of this turn, the Galls have built two cities on our continent, Spite and Malice. Spite was founded first on an Iron Hill, while Malice was built the following turn, nestled next to the coast and a river. We have a stack of pikemen and workers near the city of Spite, the city closest to our Empire's borders. We also have a stack of Immortals deeper in our territory, which we are quickly building up. We are also building trebuchets to go along with our growing army. The army we are amassing will destroy the two enemy cities and secure our continent for the people of Iron. Now, to further increase our chances of a successful battle, we are hoping you can aid us a few different ways. We are wondering if you have an Embassy established with KISS. If you do, is there anyway you can do a diplomatic spying operation in the cities of Spite and/or MIA? Also, we noticed you have a knight wandering our continent. We would like to offer you a Right of Passage agreement, to help your knight glide through our Empire. This would help you grasp the shape of our continent better, and hopefully catch sight of the enemy cities. So, would a RoP be possible for you?

Please respond soon.

Bye for now.

That's a classic Freudian slip there greekguy. Should be Malice instead of MIA.

Other than that it's a great message. Actually, I think it's great the way it is. I wonder what the Greeks would make of this portion?

sent the message to the Greeks via Gmail.

btw, i changed the slipup from "MIA" to "Malice". sorry, donsig, but i rather not risk putting it in the message and seeing what they think. it might damage their "honor" somehow. ;)

No problem greekguy - probably best that you changed it. I still think it would have been fun to see their reaction. :)

Let's hope they get back to us quick about spying on Malice. I'd really like to see what's in there soon. (If we can afford it.)

oh, i just realized, that i drafted up an official peace treaty for the chat that was supposed to happen between me and fe3333au last week, and never got to use it. so, i'll attach it to our next message to MIA, if that's ok with you guys.

Rhis was in our team's g-mail inbox:

This is not an official MIA letter- just a note from a private MIA citizen.

TNT friends,

The latest edition of the MIA Tribune, published by me, pokes some fun
at your glorious empire.

Please take this in the spirit of fun that it was intended.
In fact, it is my hope that this comic may actually help you. It
(hopefully) helps to hide the relationship our two peoples have, and
maybe even will help lull KISS into a false sense of security.

Anyway - hope it makes you laugh!

All the best,
General_W

Latest from the Greeks:

To greekguy, Donsig and all at TNT

Responding to your recent correspondence ... and this is going to sound very preachy ... sorry. :(

As of Turn 129 ... Military Strengths
> MIA is STRONG compared to Nuts
> MIA is AVERAGE compared to TNT
> MIA is WEAK compared to KISS

Regarding KISS expansion, it is our belief that they have possibly 2 settlers that are unaccounted for and therefore headed your way. With this in mind, we strongly urge you to discontinue the building of peace time infrastructure and concentrate solely on military. I sincerely hope that this doesn't come across as arrogant, but you need to take steps to plug the passage of KISS settlers and reinforcements!

We will gladly give you Theology for your Silks. However, we would prefer not to reduce the price for our enemies so it would be best to wait until they have discovered it themselves. In addition, in order to help you out as much as possible, we have determined that it is probably best for MIA to research Invention while you concentrate solely on addressing the KISS invasion. Considering that the Idiots are mid Golden Age and are churning unit after unit to throw at you, maybe it would be best to sell your Silks for Invention instead of Theology? Let us know which you would prefer.

Our Knight will make his way into your territory soon and our galley is also very slowly covering the distance to act as a KISS spotter for you. We decline a formal ROP as this will alert our rivals to the closeness of our relationship and it has also been decided that the 77 gold required for an embassy could be better spent on allowing us to rush research.

Regarding your request for us to 'peek' into the cities of Malice and Spite, unfortunately due to the turn order the intel that we could give would be outdated by the time you receive it. The cost for us to 'peek' these outposts is 32 and 31 gold respectively, so if you still want us to spy for you, just send the gold on whatever turn you want the information.

Now to the issue of research, due to the current desperate situation that KISS have forced on you, we feel that in the interim it is prudent for you to concentrate on cash accumulation so you can rush naval and ground forces.

Only once the KISS threat has been properly addressed would it be beneficial for you to begin researching properly. MIA is confident that we are able to research technology faster than you can manage at this point. We therefore and I really must stress this as it addressed our concerns for your survival, ... We strongly urge you not to get distracted into conducting your own research until it is safe to do so. You must wait at least until KISS' Golden Age is exhausted.

We understand that this is probably not the response you wanted, but the KISS threat is a prime concern to us all and must be taken very seriously.

We also feel that one of the highest duties of friendship is to be able to tell a friend when you think they are making a mistake. Please understand that this letter is motivated by our sincere desire to see you rise and conquer! :salute:

We are open to discuss any alternative points of view you may have.

Wow, I didn't realize things were so bad. Maybe we should ask the Greeks to declare war on the Galls to help us out.

I honestly don't know what to say to them. How about you guys?

well, which deal do we want: Silks for Theology or Silks for Invention?

i suggest we take Invention instead of Theology in the trade deal. Invention will be more useful for us then Theology, IMO.

also, do we want to pay MIA to spy for us on Spite and/or Malice?

I say we pay them to spy on Spite the turn before we attack, and depending on the results of our attack on Spite, we could then ask them to repeat the process on Malice a few turns from now.

i'll write up a full reply tomorrow.

I don't think it's worth spending gold on spying just now. I kinda lean towards silks for invention - but we don't know how long it'll take them to get invention. We have an extra silk now. Maybe we should ask the Greeks if they want to buy silks for gold now.

silk for invention but that wont be for awhile, maybe silk for workers or gold.

i agree wih what they are saying in the letter as well, still annoyed they wouldnt help out and maybe start building up a bit of a military themselves so they could at least worry KISS and force them to leave some troops behind.

I don't think we can get workers from MIA - I guess we need a city on the same continent.

Reminder: aren't we supposed to be sending them a formal peace treaty?

yeah, i'll put it in the message i'm gonna write up.

What defeats are you referring to? We have not yet begun to fight! Man the torpedos Griddly. Full steam ahead!

Proposed reply to the Greeks. Please post feedback!

Dear MIA,

We appreciate you advice concerning the Gallic War. We will take your words into consideration and decide on which path to take very soon. However, the situation has changed quickly in the span of one turn. A great battle was fought outside the town of Spite, and losses were large on both sides. We will recover from the losses soon, but we are deeply worried about the number of Gallic Swordsmen on our continent. Perhaps you could build up your military a bit, as a deterent to KISS from sending more troops overseas.

Now, concerning the trading of Ironic Silk, my people have decided we prefer to trade for Invention, rather than Theology. However, we realize Invention will not be discovered for several turns. So, we thought you could trade us a hefty amount of gold for the time being. We could then renegotiate the sale of a second 20 turns of silk shipments when your people discover the secrets of Invention.

Also, my people have decided it is not worth the gold to spy on the KISS towns at this moment. We might go down this route in the future, but right now, we've concluded a diplomatic spying operation would be of little use.

Lastly, I have finished drafting a formal peace treaty between our two nations. I hope this treaty shall last for centuries to come, ensuring peaceful relations between the two supreme nations of the world, Iron and Greece!

Peace Treaty

Bye for now.
