How is your EU3 Game going?

@Quint

Mantua update--England is in a personal union with me, and I have Pisa, Parma, and Siena all vassalized.

I decided to pick up my France game again. I went to war, blah, blah, blah. Then I inherited both Great Britain and Portugal. Get ready to see some ugly borders.

Well, Iceland presumably had its own kings prior to independence, if they were ruling from Copenhagen.

Presumably they're including Norwegian monarchs? (Which did, according to Wiki, did indeed have seven kings called "Magnus" by this point in history.)

Even if it wasn't, it wouldn't necessarily be that unusual. Erik XIV of Sweden is not the 14th king named Erik; estimates range at there actually only being 8 or so other kings of Sweden named Erik. When Sweden adopted that numerical system, it was according to a fictitious history.

Spot on, I think this is what they did. Magnus VII of Norway died in 1374, right before the start of the game.

Isn't Sweden somewhat unique in that regard? The Papal numbering, besides the antipopes and a few miscountings with Johns, Stephens, and Martins, is well-established from the early days of the church. England simply didn't count pre-Norman kings with numerals (hence Edward I is the fourth Edward on the English throne), and it was my understanding that several kingdoms took this route.
