How will the world look in 2050?

Interesting thoughts inthis thread.
I think that the world will belong to the most prolific.
Europe will become more increasingly Islamic and fundamentalist as the demographic continues ot shift.
America will become more socially liberal and will decline economically.
Japan will be a shell of itself--the birth rate isn't even at replacement.
India and China will be large players on the world stage, more economically liberal but not socially liberal.
The climate will become cooler, as the sun's cycle of solar radiation ebbs as it does will its normal several hundred year track. The natural global cooling will be greater than the unnatural global warming

It will only be a few more years before the entire world invades north korea, when the war is over that land will be owned by south korea.
Due to overpopulation all countries will agree to geneticly engeneer male babies to grow up with a uslees sperm count, then all the babies will be made in a lab and each couple will only be allowed to raise one girl and one boy.
The babies will be geneticly engeeneered to be immune to deppresion, cancer, and HIV and they will all be bisexual with pee, bondage, S&M, and foot fetishes, and we will all be more sesitive to pleasure, just to spice things up.
Everyone will be a slut or a manslut but hookers will be all but gone.
America will illeaglize abortion, keep the death penelty and constantly disobay the U.N. Eventually they will piss the world off so much that a giant nuclear war will break out between America and the rest of the world. It will last seven days. Twelve nukes will be fired on america. Eight on the rest of the world.
In summery other than nuclear war the future doesn't look too bad, I suggest people move out of america though.

I think what can be said for sure is that every European nation will be in the EU, with the exception of Switzerland of course....

That argument was totally raging over nothing. Fifty was joking around, in a huge way, and someone tried to bite out of him - never realizing he was joking. You should all notice that Fifty was arguing with Perfection, which can easily degrade into nonsense.
I cannot easily predict the next 50 years. I believe that human augmentation will be a lot more prevalent and successful. With all the new MRI data coming out, I'm pretty sure that augmenting or repairing the brain will become much easier.
I also expect that we will suffer some massive inflation in key materials like foodstuffs, because our current water consumption is unsustainable. We will still be able to generate clean water, but not at the dirt-cheap levels that we have today. There will be a larger wealth gradient between meat eaters and near-vegetarians.
Oil ... I don't know what will happen with oil. Right now it looks like we cannot produce enough fuel to satisfy our current consumption. Earth can only grow biodiesel so quickly, and diesel-proper will become more expensive.
I somewhat suspect that some economies will be left in the dirt. As soon as an economy cannot provide anything of value, it will be forced to return to pastoral roots.
Fifty: I flipped through part of that book yesterday. Was it any good? I read a bit about implanting animal brains to augment the human brain ... I'd prefer to do that with stem cells than animal brains of course.
We only have so much 'cheap resources' available, and unless we invest them properly, we might not be able to replace them before we get widespread poverty.

And btw. we weren't the last country to join the UN, the Vatican state is as far as I know still not a member of the UN (and also can't become due to some passus, I'm not sure).

Look at the last 50 years, not as much happened as people thought would.
Is that a colonised Mars, a Soviet ruled Earth, or just showing that people will still know how to use photoshop?

All the people are made in labs and there is a limmeted number of children in familys to stop overpoulation.
Everyone is immune to: influenza, deppresion, cancer, HIV, all STDs, and the common cold.
Also everyone would be bisexual, (just to make it simpler) and has foot, pee, S&M and Bondage fetishes and everyone is more sensitive to sexual pleasure.
Also men would have a useless sperm count so they can't knock a girl up.
There is World peace.
Robots do housework.
Also when you turn 20 you get drafted into the "porn force" and you have to work in the adult industry for a year, you don't have to perform if you don't want to. When in the porn force you get a free loading, food and entertainment in a special building where all members of the porn force live. The porn force makes all the diffrent types of porn you can think of, you name it. All porn made by this is free and pornography not made by it is illegal. This is owned by the goverment.

Another way of 'destroying all unenhanced humans' would be to make the augmentation readily available, such that it's easy to join those with the augmentation ... kind of like post-secondary education in Western countries. It gives a good advantage, and everyone tries to do it.
