Watson won. I have to admit that I chuckled at Ken Jennings' note in his Final Jeopardy response, "I, for one, welcome our new computer overlords."

I always liked Ken Jennings, I used to watch jeapardy quite a bit when he was on. I don't have tv now, so I can't watch the show. It's good he has sufficient Simpsons knowledge. That's far more important than works of Shakespeare.

This was a truly impressive feat. I just wonder to what nefarious purposes the algorithms will now be used by the DoD and others.

Well that makes it much less impressive. I don't think it comprehends language either, it could do something like this:

Trebek: "This city was founded by dutch colonists and referred to as the big apple."

Or if it was an easy question like "Unit of medication jokingly suggested to help you calm down" It would produce "Xanax"

You can't get your ass sued off for using an arcane naming method to refference an existing name for a character in your book. If it was, DC comics would get sued by the estate of H.P. Lovecraft on a weekly basis.
