IDEA- Civfanatics Leaderhead making competition?

Ah! That Afonso is actually Mindaugas of Lithuania!

Well whatever it is, It works for me. Like I said, maybe a few small adjustments (Mediterranean skin tone, take off some of the clothing) and he will work just fine for Afonso.

Heck, upon second look, even the beard is about right!

If you really want an Alfonso and Canute, I'd actually suggest using the WIP Alfonso by Capo and company (Arthur in black armor and some modifications). For Canute, I'd use the Beowulf as a base, but then add features from the Mingaduas, such as the beard (recolored blond of course) and possibly a cloak in place of the sash. In fact, I would try using the body design from Capo's Cersobleptes. Recolor the tunic into mail like Beowulf, make the pauldron iron, and recolor the cloak to something more Norse. That, combined with the new beard, could make an awesome Canute who looks fairy unique. Of course, that could be way more work that you're thinking of.

Espiecialyl since I would have to learn how to make leaderheads in the process. ;)

I think the Afonso you're using is also a good idea. The thing is this is Capo's Mindaugas. Now, I don't have Lithuania in my game, so it is fine with me, but The Capo can't use it as Afonso. So, Capo, I hope we will see soon this Afonso Henriques LH. I believe this is the first one you should do since it is pretty much a quick reskin, unless you're planning something more elaborate...

wow. I run the Database and yet, I can't remember some leaderheads! Excuse me Capo, I had no clue it was Mindaugas.

Yeah, it is weird I remember all the LHs made by Ekmek, Pencilgod, cfkane, The Capo, veBear, NikNaks and myself, but you, as the creator of the LH database don't.

Your post count is 666! :eek2:

I've noticed others like Madman also remember every leaderhead. Tell me what is your secret? Do you test yourself every now and then? Before going to sleep, instead of counting sheep, do you count leaderheads?

I have a weird mind- it remembers different stuff, that are usually unnecessary to remember. I call myself the expert on unnecessary information. I can right now tell you stuff like all the Civ leaders and civs from every game or even the entire FIFA World Cup tournament table from 1998, 2002 and 2006, for example!

Yeah, that Afonso Henriques should be finished relatively quickly. But I don't want to start working on LHs before the mod is ready for them because I have a bad habit of loading myself up with work I have to do and not getting around to it. So eventually it will be finished.

As far as using Mindaugas as Afonso; its fine with me. You can use him as Barack Obama for all I care, once I put an LH out its out and I don't care what is done with it. I am going to polish Mindaugas up though once I get to that point in my mod, the crown needs a better texture.

And this is the Afonso Henriques WIP that Vrenir is talking about. Its nearly finished really, I suppose I could finish it up and put it out if IgorS sends me the files he has. It shouldn't disrupt the rest of my mod too much, its only really a reskin.

Hmm, I have a request if anyone wants to take it.

There is a particular leaderhead that is quite popular:

Dido

Now people seem to love this model, and it's found in a lot of mods. It's pretty good, but my issue is it looks too much like an Isabella reskin, it needs a little more uniqueness. Also Dido was Pheonecian, she should look more Semitic, this leaderhead looks decidedly Western European. Anyway I think with a few minor touch ups this leaderhead could go from a B to an A+, and it would definatly get used, alot.

EDIT: sry, wrong thread...

Was that a pun? :p

Pheonicans would have looked something like the Maltese do. So I'm fine with them being European in look.

But I agree with you in terms of making it more unique.

I guess this thread has became a Leaderhead Development thread. Maybe I should edit the OP and PM a mod to change the title?

That's a good argument, but the Pheoncians were definatly a semitic peoples. They would look more like modern day Arabs than Western Europeans. They'd have to, it fits the genetic clock based on human migration patterns. It doesn't look or seem right to make Dido look like a Spanish girl (especially a woman that looks remarkably like Spanish Royalty), she should look more like a modern day Palestinian.

IIRC Pheonicans were closer to Jew's than Arabs, so maybe more arabic looking with a lighter skin tone?

Actually I remember on BBC they were having a documantery on tracking the Pheonican gene. Wish I watched it, maybe I'll take a look at it in Youtube.

Jews and Arabs are about as close as you can get and put a diliniation in human apearances. (Ie they look pretty much the same, but don't tell a jew or arab that :mischief:)

That's not entirely true. I certainly don't look like an Arab, so do most Ashkenazi Jews. Sephardic Jews are the ones who look more like Arabs since they lived in Arab countries. Ashkenazi Jews have a European skin colour because of all those years living in Europe. And lets not forget about all those "strange" Jews like those from India, China and Ethiopia. Jews come in all colours (and nationalities).:)
