If you took over the US how would you divide it?

inspirerd by the take-over-the world thread, divide my states, provinces, cities, political thinking, etc. whatever, heres a map for your convience (doesn't matter whether you keep or erase state lines :

First, I would take the 50 states (and DC) and create a country called the "United States of America". Then...I'd be done.

Oh and US is easier to divide because there are no big cultular or other diferences, how about "If you took over europe, how would you divide it?"

I'd turn all that is still pristine (or as prisitine as the National Park Service as left it) land into National Parks, and a lot of land would become 'restricted usage' land - only low-intensity farming and ranching allowed.

i'd erase the state lines.
make it all one country instead of a bunch of "states" forcefully brought together under an oppressively expensive military.

then i'd divide it into maybe 10 geographical areas. each would be about equal in population, not geography. with 10 of em, i think that most of the "cultural" differences (ie south vs north) can be in their own areas.
50 states is way too many.
and when some states are like 100 times bigger then others (california vs Rhode island's gotta come close to 100:1), that's just ridiculous.

Blue: Michigan region, capital: Chicago

I was thinking about this. I'd advise dividing into a series of weak, agricultural states. After exporting all industry to Africa, all military equipment to the UN, and all the best women to my harem -

USA will have divided, with the Northern half either going to Canada, or joining the newly formed United State of Dakota. Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Columbia and South Carolina will become the overseas territory of Cuba, as will Puerto Rico.

The rest will go to Mexico.

Then I don't see anyone invadeing the US, anytime soon. Ya know, we do happen to ahve the most accdurate weapon systems on the earth, backe dup with the most advanced boomer subs. Oh no! how dare they secure there intrests! bad usa!
