Oh, I don't know what is going on.

I officially declare war on the NEA, Japan and the Soviet Union.

I am gone.. for... 12 hours and the world goes to hell..

Well In response for their declarations;

I declare war on NEA, Japan and USSR.

@West India: I claimed Tonga two days ago you can have it if you like.

@e359tb: Just in case you missed, the former principality of France ceded you Maryland

OOC: Screw it. I can't wait anymore. I'm using up my one post - I assume my battle orders do not count towards the limit - until the next update.

Furthermore, from what I've heard from Thorvald, it's going to be a while until the next update...

I just might dust off IOT II now. Any in favor? (Please PM me if you are, or leave a message on my page. This is to keep Thor from marking everything as spam. :p)

Electoral results:

Spoiler :
The Federalist promise of tax cuts has paid off. They have swept Congress.

[RL: June 19, 2010] - Senatorial(Governor-appointed) election results:

(Last two elections - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=9293079&postcount=3402 on June 17; June 15 is missing so I'll have to fudge the numbers and say several legislators have been recalled for various corruption charges)

32 seats - 23 Federalists, 5 Progressives, 3 Libertarians, 1 Nationalist

Total Senate composition: 59 Federalists, 29 Progressives, 6 Libertarians, 1 Independent(anti-Communist) 1 Nationalist

Federalists now possess 64% of the Senate, enough to stop any filibuster, and enough to practically rule like a one-party state; they need only two or so votes to do whatever they want. Only the Progressive Presidency can stop the Feds.

[RL: June 20, 2010] - Tribunatorial election results:

Federalists - 294
Progressives - 148
Libertarians - 29
Christians - 18
Neo Incans - 5
Independents - 3
Social Democrats - 2
Socialists - 1

Federalists now control 58.8% of the Tribunate, and with allied Independents, Libertarians, and Christians, and a handful of Progressives, they have 69.6% of it.

Overall results:

There is one more midterm, that of the state legislature-appointed Senators, before the Presidential election. Until then, the Federalists now run a de facto one-party state.

==== Additional news! ===

Spoiler :
Post midterms, Operarius and de Zorrito proudly unveiled the new Praetorian at a ceremony recently, demonstrating how ferocious its arsenal can be.

At a hefty 4 million dollars a unit, however, it has been said they will be in limited production, being on par with tanks in cost.

50% of these will be committed to war, after being outfitted with self-destruct mechanisms. The remaining half will stay behind to protect Federation officials.

At the ceremony, many were surprised to see Operarius had a prosthetic limb. He stated that he loved getting his hands dirty, and thus personally oversaw the Praetorian project... a malfunction caused him to lose part of his left arm. He says that the project's effectiveness was demonstrated, even if it needs a few more bugs ironed out... most of which, he says, have been dealt with, hence why the new Praetorians are entering production.

"We need not fear these new machines. They are a testament to our great nation, and allow us to take our soldiers out of harm's way. We win on all fronts.

My injury by an automated Praetorian, rather than a drone one, merely says we cannot trust those that are artificially-operated. This does not discredit the Praetorians as whole, however. Drones allow us to send our soldiers into combat without technically doing so, saving our families much grief. And when fighting great powers like the training-heavy NEA, technology-heavy Empire of the Rising Sun, and population-heavy Indians, saving families from grief is ever more important."

Appeaser Apprehended

The Chancellor catches the Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the act

The German Republic has discovered who's been secretly been negotiating a peace settlement between the NEA and the Japanese Empire. The German Republic has there own Neville Chamberlain working behind the scenes making attempts to appese the NEA and the Japanese Empire out of fear of losing there own territories as well as potential communist upwelling.

The Chancellor became furious after learning what has occurred behind closed doors. The Senate and the House of Representatives within the Bundestag were behind the Chancellor in condemning the Secretary of Foreign Affairs as well as removing him from office and to be replaced with someone who is not willing to be an appeaser.

The Chancellor sent the vetoed peace treaty. The Bundestag also defeated the peace treaty bill. The Chancellor was leaving the Reichstag building stating "Some how, my own Secretary of Foreign Affairs was starting to act like the Congress of Civilization II in a Democratic and/or Republican government".

EDIT: for some reason Germany withdrew the news. i can safely assume Germany si at peace with the NEA and japan.

IC: Edit: Never mind

OOC: With the anger directed towards me recently, I'm about to call it quits. Though I am not at that point yet since I still have a little strength to keep going.

Wait, we're not at peace?

Goddammit CivG, why are you making things so much more complicated than they need to be?

You're probably giving Thorvald an aneurysm or something, because I can't even keep up, managing one country. I couldn't imagine managing the entire game.

(plus I can't make new battle orders, which means I can't attack Singapore, goddammit CivG, goddammit)

I don't know why you are so keen on striking Singapore. Are you that eager to expand your imperialist agenda across the land and onto other nations? Quite eager you are to strike directly at European oversees territories.

OOC: This more than likely the last attempt of a Xanatos Gambit I'll pull on this caliber. It's taken too much energy from me TBH. Even if it costed me my sanity.

Sorry to break the 1 post rule, but I need to respond.

OOC: To be honest, It's the lack of confidence I have with making good rolls. Judging by my history in Roll to Dodge on getting mostly fudged rolls (no offense Thorvald).

What do you mean? Because you get bad rolls you want to stay at war?

OOC: Jesus Christ, will you lay off me for once. Bad enough I completely lost all motivation to participate in the DYOS because the GM (I precived) lashed out against me for making one small complaint. Know I know why I started to hold grievances against this game when people started putting on there masks and started role playing evil parts and had the willingness to wage regional favoritism and all that junk not previously seen in other IOTs.

Also, I'm not flipping Mathalamus or Dom3k for crying out loud!

I'm sorry, I flipped out. This game is becoming more and more like a job, and now even the smallest grievances, like you doing some roleplaying at my expense, cause me to go off the handle. This game is becoming waaaaay to complex, and I think we need to start a new one (no offense to Thorvald, the game was gong great with the new rules until the spam showed up and ruined the entire thing).

I want Singapore because it's the only European base in Asia, besides Australia and New Guinea. And if I capture that, it makes it that much harder for the imperialists to invade the home islands.

EDIT:

OOC: Actually, I just came up with a pretty good idea. Since this game has gotten pretty much out of control (even with Thorvalds measures, the world war is just becoming ridiculous), and I don't think the next one will be any better, how about I start an IOT Developmental thread. In the thread we can discuss ways to cut down on the problems seen with this game and prior ones, and think up of new rules/ways to combat them in order to refine the experience and make it more fun for the player.

Is it okay guys if I start this thread?

wrong. in this game, island hopping is not necessary, while the war between us was still on, i invaded kanto province, the capital. no one objected. not even thor.

i asked him to remove that battle though.

And that's a problem that (see my edit) I would like to address in the IOT Developmental thread. We need to make bases for launching operations more important, so that stuff like Guiana attacking Tokyo doesn't happen, since it's totally unrealistic.

OOC: Yes please. It would certainly help to move it out of the thread. Especially with Thorvald about to pop another blood vessel :scared:. I have a couple of suggestions to throw into the hat as well (a similar concept as Joe's as well as making one's own nation a temporary NPC in the event the player decides to take a break from IOT.
