ITNES I - An Epoch of Change

hmm btw, how is the cost of increasing training determined? Is it by the size stat or does the amount of military units affect that?

From Bulghar Onoghur Empire

You were once part of a great Empire, vast a powerful, which once had the potential to rule the world. The Huns. Yet this Empire has fallen and your people have reverted to poverty and squalor. Left to your own devices you have little hope of prosperity or greatness. We offer you the chance to join our mighty Empire and restore your wealth and honor.

You reside in the harsh lands of the north, where the cold persists, and little wealth or warmth ever flows. Yet there is hope for we offer you the oppurtunity to join our Empire and resuce your people from the chill.

Let us open trade between our people and reside in prosperity as our merchants let wealth flow between our lands.

Time to claim whats rightfully mine...

Tarunia
Capital: Palmenia
Ruler: ?/Reno
Government (Efficiency): Theocratic Monarchy (the monarch is a puppet) (Competent)
Culture: Tarunist Finno-Ugric; increasingly stagnant; mostly united (but heresies are beginning to appear); very independent, with only slight old Copenhagener influence.
Tech. Level: Early Medieval Age
Army (Quality): 20 thousands (Better)
Navy (Quality): 50 ships (Great)
Economy (Points): Stagnant (2)
Trade: 2
Size (Points Required): Above Medium (3)
Infrastructure: Good
Education: Well Educated
Prestige: Popular
Confidence: Tolerating
Projects:
Nation Background: Tarunia, which arose in northeastern Europe, is unique amongst the nations (much less great empires). One of the many ways in which it was unique was that since Palmenia's foundation in the late 1st Century, the Tarunian power was based on the book and the gold, as opposed to blood and iron; missionaries, merchants and diplomats were behind Tarunia's greatness, even though wars - with neighbouring tribes, with Nortuguese atheists or with Svears - still did occur. Yet it would seem that blood and iron would still become needed soon to defend Tarunia and its colonial empire from the enemies and threats now amassing; Tarunia's Baltic predominance, alliance network and perhaps even survival are at stake, as Interesting Times come to the Baltic Sea.

Huancac Empire please!

Hah! Made it!

Cimberland for me!

ofcourse I stick with Nortugal :p

btw shouldn't Nortugal coasts be filled with fortifactions?

Norge
Capital: Vikborg
Ruler: ?
Government (Efficiency): Feudal Monarchy (Tolerable)
Culture: Tarunist Scandinavian; primitive, but developing; fairly united, but ofcourse under a certain degree of Tarunian religious influence; less expectedly, there is also some Brigantean influence; minor regionalism, especially in the east (Svearish minorities, though mostly also Tarunist).
Tech. Level: Late Empire Age
Army (Quality): 20 thousands (Better)
Navy (Quality): 10 ships (Good)
Economy (Points): Stagnating (2)
Trade: 2
Size (Points Required): Medium (2)
Infrastructure: Tolerable
Education: Literate
Prestige: Tolerable
Confidence: Respecting
Projects:
Nation Background: For most of its history, the Norge remained - and still remains, though not as much - on the sidelines. Awakened by the 1st Century AD Copenhagener invasions, the Norge took part in both of the Northern Wars; in the first, they helped the Nortuguese conquer Copenhagen, in the second, they helped the Tarunians destroy the Nortuguese colonial empire in the east. Although capable of coordinated action, the Norge had failed to form any trully united states until the late 3rd Century, under Beregnar I. From the start of Norge statehood, the kingdom's natural, real and best ally was Tarunia; it was from Tarunia that the Norge got Tarunism, after all, and the alliance in the Second Northern War was remembered; also, the Tarunians, unlike the Nortuguese, took no Norge lands, so there were no clashes of interest, while both sides were interested in containing Svearland - after all, the Norge were united under the pretext of defeating the mad Svear king Berger. Though the Svear threat had been reduced, Norge and Tarunia remained close allies; yet Norge still does increasingly drift towards isolation... The country is still half-asleep; but if fully awakened, Norge might become a trully great power in North Sea politics.

Shahdom of Parhae
Capital: Persepolis
Ruler: ?/Lord_Iggy
Government (Efficiency): Bureaucratic Monarchy (Competent)
Culture: Zoroastrian Parhaen, with strong (but mostly past) Bactrashan, Lucan, Mesopatamian and Hindu influences; now largely independent; sizeable Mithraist and Hinduist religious minorities; ethnic Assyrian, Urrian, Arabic, Hayq, Aranian and Charatian minorities (but assimilated to a large extent, except for the latter one); vibrant; core culture unified.
Tech. Level: Early Medieval Age
Army (Quality): 100 thousands (Great)
Navy (Quality): 20 ships (Good)
Economy (Points): Growing (3)
Trade: 2
Size (Points Required): Above Medium (3)
Infrastructure: Efficient
Education: Well Educated
Prestige: Acceptable
Confidence: Tolerating
Projects:
Nation Background: Reborn from the ashes of the Bactrashan Empire, the second Parhaen Empire - a rightful successor to the ancient one - had quickly become more powerful than anyone had expected, and by the reign of Xerxes III had expanded from its heartland into all possible directions. Under Xerxes III, Parhae conquered eastern Luca and Central Arabia, and allied with Carthage, pushing back the Kalingans and their allies. However, some of the gains had to be given up in the eventual peace treaty, and after the death of Xerxes' son, Darius II, in mid-3rd Century, the overstretched Parhae fell into civil war and lost ground to separatists and foreign invaders. Still, more recently, Taraxes II had reunited Parhae and succesfully defended its heartlands, plus some of its conquests. Parhae still retains a great potential, and is an important regional power.

Parhae is mine once again.

I TAKE IT

Frankreich
Capital: Rhinsburg
Ruler: ?
Government (Efficiency): Decentralized (especially in the east) Feudal Monarchy (Blundering)
Culture: Solist Germannic; developing, but on the crossroads; that is complicated by heightened regionalism, and different prevailing cultural tendencies in different parts of the country; (probably) small Germannic polytheist and Tarunist minorities.
Tech. Level: Early Medieval Age
Army (Quality): 30 thousands (Better)
Navy (Quality): 10 ships (Normal)
Economy (Points): Growing (2)
Trade: 2
Size (Points Required): Medium (2)
Infrastructure: Improving
Education: Literate
Prestige: Unpopular
Confidence: Tolerating
Projects:
Nation Background: The Franks were for long Gaelic allies; and always, they were the lesser partners in such an arrangement. Frankland - or, as it is now, Frankreich - had gained much from that cooperation; the Franks worked together with the Gauls to destroy the Rhenish Germannics, and later the Nortuguese Empire., and it was with Gaelic assistance that Frankreich had expanded as much as it did under Bruno I. In return, the Franks assisted Gaul diplomatically and militarily, and adapted the Gaelic religion, Solism. All that has made many view Frankreich as a Gaelic puppet; that opinion isn't completely wrong. However, slowly, but surely, anti-Gaelic, anti-Solist dissent in the Frankreich is rising, and calls for true independence are heard... However, it is dubious that Frankreich is ready to face the world - and its own internal troubles - on its own. Or that Gaul would let it stray away...

It just occurred to me, why is it Pervashid Empire of Luca? Is pervashid new dynasty or something like that?

Thanks das for your quick reply to my pm earlier. I have just one more question to help me get my bearings.

Nation Background: Freed by the chaos of the Cymru Empire, the Iceni tribe had, with Gaelic assistance (largely due to the Iceni embracement of Sol), come to lead a tribal confederation that dominated most of the post-Cymru space. Eventually, that confederation was transformed into a Gaelic-inspired empire, but with greater ties of state and church; yet the ideals of the Iceni rulers are somewhat distant both from reality and from the ideals of their people... If this obstacle is somehow overcome, the Iceni have a great potential.

Can you expand with as much detail as you like, the exact nature of the ties between church and state? Does this mean 1) the emperor is the official head of the Iceni Solist church, 2) he has significant powers such as appointment of religious leaders but doesn't officially lead the religion, 3) he rules under a divine-kingship type religious mandate, or 4) Other.

And the trade? Also 3?

2. But it keeps changing, you know. ;)

Would soemone be kind as to make a map with nation names?

Some had tried... ;)

Is it just me or were there three 'active' Empires; Olmecs, Kalinga, Nortugal?

If you mean during the BT, then Han/Tieh China also counts. Possibly DIE as well.

hmm btw, how is the cost of increasing training determined?

Frankly, that's the one thing I forgot to flesh out properly in the rules... But basically, I reverted to the old, simple system. Might change it later if people protest too much, but probably won't.

Our lands are great, fertile and wealthy, much better than your steppes. Why should we move away from our cities?

Is pervashid new dynasty or something like that?

Pretty much, yes.

Strategos, 2) and 3) (a real convenient system, that). But 1) is a possible direction for development. ;)

So for the total amount we can spend, we add trade points to economy points?

Mandatory 48 Hour Reclamation of Khmer Empire. Diplomacy and other things to come later today.

So for the total amount we can spend, we add trade points to economy points?

That doesn't even require confirmation... oops, too late.

Glad to see the NES filling up. ;)

das, is there some kind of "Cimbri" vaguely nationalist-type feeling, or are the various ethnic groups at each others' throats?
