LK164 - CCM, AWM, Korea

Yes, I am about to finish up my next to last turn and will post by tomorrow (Sunday, 5/16/21) at the latest.

Good news / Bad news. We now possess all but 1 Viking city. Unfortunately, it is on an island off the coast. Which leads into my question about where to build the Military Academy.

At the end of the turn I am currently playing, we learn Military Tradition. I just got a Great Leader. I am considering rushing the Military Academy in Visby. Visby is not to far from the current front and is not very likely to flip (1 Viking and 7 Koreans for population).

Any thoughts about were to put the Academy?

How close is the big Greek stack to Visby? I would hate to rush it, just to lose it to Greece. I have no clue what shape the stack is in.

It took several turns, but the Greek Stack does not exist. It did stall my advance having to allocate a good portion of our cavalry to it. Any threats now are beyond out borders. Also the roads leading over the mountains have been pillaged.

That was my only possible issue. I have no objection to Visby.

Victory Screen: 13% world area 21% world population

Notes:
  • Currently, if we do not rush any buildings or pay to upgrade troops it is going to take 6 turns to accumulate enough gold (4210) to attempt to steal Democracy from Persia. A steal from Greece currently costs 4666, Greece is building the Eiffel Tower so they know at least all the techs up to Steel and the same is true for Spain.
    • Spain’s border touches ours so we might be able to fuel our stealing with Spanish conquest gold.
  • There is a combat roading crew enjoying the oasis between Stockholm and Orebro.
  • There is a settler just southeast of Black Dot. I figure he is close to future Blue Dot and not a far walk from future Red dot.
  • Some Screen shots in my next post

Here is the location of the Viking Capital.I found it by planting a spy then investigating the city.

Next up is the Southern front.

Here are our new cities Black Dot and Yellow Dot. We might want to reposition Blue Dot and maybe Red Dot.

Nice progress! I'm amazed to see us catch up this much in tech so quickly.

I'm inclined to put Blue Dot where the worker stack is -- next to the Gems mountain. Red dot can stay where LK proposed.

I've got it, but I'll pause for discussion before getting started.

The reason I mentioned Red dot is that is where all the Persian and Germany troops seem to enter our territory from. Persia's capital is due east of Seoul, a portion of the capital showed up in the fog when I planted a spy in Persia.
Persia has the capital city closest to us. Therefore, it is the cheapest place to steal from (if they have the tech we want).

I forgot to mention, there is a Lawyer fortified in Yellow Dot. He does not see much action, I though about moving him to the southern front.

Spain’s border touches ours so we might be able to fuel our stealing with Spanish conquest gold.
Sadly it won’t. Spain is now broke with just $135. I have no clue where the cash is now. The most cash we see is the Aztecs with $3931.

Currently, if we do not rush any buildings or pay to upgrade troops it is going to take 6 turns to accumulate enough gold (4210) to attempt to steal Democracy from Persia.
The second we steal democracy, please build Constitution for the free happy face.
In addition, please build Capitol. Last game I proved it works as the FP. There was a big gain in productivity after it was built.

We can’t get a break with civs. I knew about Greece already from the teaser. I also see Mongolia on the list. At least Mongolia is a tech lightweight. Spain built Neuschwanstein in Karakorum. That is probably why Mongolia is a dud.

Olympic Games being built is bad news. That means some civs are about to enter the industrial age.
I see great luck with steals with us also getting Naval Power.
With how things are going I will be working on the railroad during my next set.

China is probably the tech leader now. I caught they build Crystal Palace. I suspect that is where all the cash went.

Who is the world is the red civ? We need to pillage that mountain tile and retreat before we make contact. This stack won't last through my turn.
Another civ to fight will slow us down. Could this be Turkey?

Our cities badly need to be reviewed. There are way to many merchants. Scientist give 4 beakers vs 3 dollars from merchants. I would rather get more income from dropping the science slider.

The capture of Chittagong was nice to see. India is starting to get chewed on.

I really hate that adventurers are in action. They were a royal pain last game.

The question if we will have rubber is already answered. I see it in the southern front picture.

ROSTER:
Multiple civs are probably south of Seoul. Please don’t explore much that direction.
I planned out 4 cities in the area. For now I don’t want to explore further until those 4 cities are built.

Spy targets = Germany (theocracy), Spain (theocracy), Aztec (democracy), Greece (theocracy), and Arabia (democracy). They are the 5 tech leaders. Remember, we can’t steal from republics. Spies in the other civs are a waste.

We just need to get ahead enough to build any wonder for our GA.

Elephantium (up, and got it)
Greebley (on deck)

IIRC balloons don't make contact with units they see. Can we build some to get a better idea of the edges of our territory?

Why is Tangier building a Hospital? It's size 22!

Also, I want to ask about the Stock Exchange in West Coast. I'm thinking about switching it to Dockyards for more shields.

Yes, I believe it is Turkey, it is the same color as the horse colony was.

No good reason for Tangier to need a Hospital. I cannot think of a reason why I might have started building it.
Stock Exchange was started before we got Naval Power. The extra shields from Dockyards are definitely worth it.

I'm about halfway through my set. I've started researching Democracy while saving up for steal attempts.

In the meantime, I've captured Spanish Treasure Fleet, giving Dockyards in all cities. It goes obsolete with Industrialization, so I'm inclined to run a few more turns to attempt to steal both Industrialization and RR in one go, meanwhile benefiting from the extra shields.

Thoughts? Democracy is due in 2-4 turns, and we'll have enough gold to attempt two steals by the end of my turnset (~1500 gpt, 4500-4700 cost for Immediate steals).
